I have lived in neighboring North Huntingdon for 6 years and this is the first time my husband and I have eaten at Zala's in all this time. Needless to say, we will absolutely be back!! We opted to dine in for dinner. The restaurant had ample social distancing between tables and practiced all safety and sanitization measures during Covid. My husband and I were the only dine-in customers for most of our meal. Lots of take out orders were processed while we were there. My husband and I opted for the special of the day which was a crab meat ravioli covered in Alfredo sauce with a cheese-filled breadstick and side salad for $14.99. We also ordered the deep fried cheese sticks as an appetizer. Holy moly is the food delicious here! The cheese sticks were served with two homemade side sauces: honey mustard and sweet Thai chili. The pasta for the raviolis was HOMEMADE! It was incredibly good. The staff was very friendly and one of the owners was in the kitchen himself helping to fill orders. This restaurant is a gem in Herminie. We are adding this to our rotation of locally owned restaurants to eat at and can't wait to try more items from the menu. This cafe is a great place to meet a friend for a drink and dinner or lunch. Their food is good and different. They serve unusual and tasty varieties of menu items. Their chef is exceptional! UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT Spent my birthday this year at Zala's because it was near the house and it had decent reviews. Currently the parking situation isn't ideal, but that shouldn't prevent you from going. Upon entering you can't help but feel as if you're in a home back in the late 70s and early 80s. Fan art and albums cover the walls and the lighting is very well balanced. A bar and grill sit to the right as you enter. Prior to receiving our meal I ordered a Sam Adams which was chilled and very good. Believe it or not other establishments fail to meet the temperature requirement. Our appetizer was the pizza egg roles which I know they get from GFS. They did a great job cooking them which is incredibly easy to mess up. I purchased the Hello Jamie which to date has been one of the greater burgers I have eaten in western Pennsylvania. A cheeseburger with egg on a brioche bun the owner certainly insures that all of his ingredients are fresh. If this is consistently made it rivals Burgatory but is closer to a Five Guys Burger genre of burger. Amongst the fries that were very good my wife purchased the Pittsburgh salad which would have been amazing had they not given us bottled ranch dressing which quite frankly destroyed the salad. There were other options, but ranch is a staple condiment in such a salad. Making home made ranch is cheaper to make than the bottles stuff which kind of confuses me. All in all I really wanted to give this place a 5 star rating. They now take card with their new ticketing system and the new owner stopped over to say hello. But, when someone orders a Pittsburgh Salad the expectation and experience must have home made ranch. We loved it here, and would love to come back but the Ranch and other condiment selections have to go. This is literally my only harsh criticism of the place but it really was bad. A shout out to the new owner who has really done a great job overhauling the place. We hope to be back when we don't have the kids. We had family from out of town who had to have Friday Fish Fry at Zala's. We had several Pittsburg Fish. The fish was fresh, breaded and fried just as we came in to eat. It was loaded with French fries, slaw, provolone and tomato slices. The fish portion was much bigger than the 10" hoagie roll. Great! The location is in Historic Hermine PA. The town name means, "sweet water." Perhaps is was before the iron. This restaurant is reversing that trend and restoring the area. This would be a nice road trip from the near by neighborhoods or for golfers of the Madison Club, or from anywhere because the food is dope. They do a good job here check them out. read more

Some of the best food I have had in a long time. Unique menu and excellent portions. It's in a small town in Herminie, you would never expect the flavors and creativity here. This place is amazing! Especially after the new ownership takeover. The food was on point. I do feel it's a little expensive for the area but perhaps that will change since they have just taken over. So good! First time there today. Exceptional service (shout out to Jessica - so knowledgeable and friendly) and food. Nice beer selection, great Sangria. We had the bacon wrapped dates sprinkled with blue cheese and a drizzle of honey...seriously tasty. I had the cast iron skillet steak with compound butter, green beans, parmesan potatoes, and an outrageous bread/cheese stick. Steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and the sides were very good. Topo had the Smokehouse burger - also cooked perfect with just the right amount of heat. This place is awesome and we will be back. What a gem! read more

Been to Zala's numerous times. We have had the sandwiches, salads, typically order dinner and now tried Saturday brunch. Saturday brunch with Bloody Mary bar is great. By far our favorite place for dinner. Love trying the dinner specials and they continually change them. The strip steak is always great. Seafood pasta, salmon, pork dinners are all favs. Drinks are good and very good beer selection. I always get a take home container as portions are large. You won't be disappointed! read more

I ordered a cheeseburger and when it came there was no cheese. I was shocked, I almost felt targeted in a way for asking specifically for cheese on my cheeseburger. In addition, my server who's name I will not mention was speaking vulgarly towards my boyfriend! I wasn't having it at this point. The food was subpar and service was 2/10 at best. Stopped in to find it is under new management. I was excited because it went downhill with old management. It looks like nothing changed as far as interior and menu. We each ordered a burger and it was good, but as noted with others, it's a bit pricey. I aked for a glass of wine and the only brand they have is Sutter Home. Gross. This place is absolutely incredible! The service is absolutely perfect. You feel welcome the second you walk in the door. The beer on draft is ice cold. The food is literally to die for. The bacon wrapped dates(the appetizer)are absolutely amazing. I had the 1LB NY Strip. I am not even a huge steak person, and only get it at places I hear have a killer steak. Let me tell you, this steak was absolutely to die for. Garlic butter basted, seared medium rare to absolute perfection. The sides I picked were the garlic butter baked potatoes and the corn medley. The potatoes were awesome! But good lord was the corn medley incredible! Bacon, jalapeños, cilantro, and grilled corn all mixed together I can't get over how good it was as a side. Wow! A gem in Herminie! Read the reviews and decided to give it a try. The menu looked great but got concerned when the dressing for my salad came in a plastic container but all concern faded after that. My 16 oz. steak was perfect. It was medium rare as ordered and had a wonderful char from the cast iron skillet. The seafood bisque was above average and loaded with seafood. The side that surprised me and I really enjoyed was the two-tone corn with jalapeño. It was spicy and delicious. My wife had the crab bucatini. She loved it. The sauce was light and refreshing. We had to bring both meals home for a late night snack as there was some much of it. I've had far more expensive steaks that weren't nearly as good. We made sure we told the very busy owner that we would be back. read more
