My son just started phase I orthodontics with Dr. Zahrowski. Dr. Zahrowski and his staff are great! Dr Zahrowski explained my son's case to me in detail. Very patient and accommodating... my son has a very bad gag reflex but they were able to manage and able to take impressions on him, thank goodness!! My son started with the expander and the assistant took his time to explain and show me how to turn the appliance every other night. Overall I had a great experience with the office. Not to mention the front office Sally is awesome! Always so pleasant to talk to and make us feel welcome when we walk into the office. I was referred to Dr. Z from my regular dentist as I've wanted Invisalign forever. I found his office manager and assistant who took photos of my teeth to be very professional, caring and pleasant. I had other consults so when Dr. Z came in $500 higher, I balked a little. As this comes out of my pocket, I called a month later to see if there was anything they could do about the price. I was going to move forward with Dr. Z but I did need to see if there was any way he could take a little money off. The office manager put me on the line with the Doctor, which is not best practice as it puts the patient in a very awkward position. I explained that I just wanted to see if there was any wiggle room in the price and he really didn't answer me. He asked me who my other consults were with and when I told him they were with general dentists and not ortho's, he got a little nasty with me as if I was questioning his expertise (which I wasn't). He then said "Well I wish you luck." I told him that I hadn't decided who I was choosing, I was simply asking if there was any flexibility in the price and I'd be remiss not to ask. He was very rude and dismissive -- it's the closest to a hissy fit as I've ever seen a medical professional behave. Basically I was going to move forward with treatment with Dr. Z until he spoke to me this way. I'll never go to him or recommend him based on the way he spoke to me today. Very unprofessional. I've worked in medical marketing for 20 years and I happen to know that it's very common for people to ask for a lower price when it comes to elective procedures not paid for by insurance so I'm not sure why he was so put out by it. And if he felt that I was offending his expertise and experience, as a grown man well into his 50s, he should have been able to hide his anger. Just another reason why an office manager should never put a doctor on the line with the patient when it comes to fees read more

I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience my family and I have had with Dr. Z and his staff. I call them my ortho family as I have been with them now for three years. Dr. Z put on my braces and those of my daughter. In a couple of years, he will put braces on another of my daughters, too! Dr. Z and his staff have been wonderful throughout the entire process. From the beginning, my family and I have received caring, thoughtful, professional advice and instruction on how to best maintain our braces. Without getting into details, I will say that through good times and bad (I was laid-off from work a week after getting the braces installed), Dr. Z and his staff were simply amazing! Dr. Z is an artist who continues is continuously strives to ascend in his profession and in his patient care, although I cannot imagine anyone does what he does better. Our local dentist highly recommended Dr. Zahrowski. My son was 18 months into braces with another orthodontist and we were not seeing any progress and had no communication with the orthodontist as to his treatment progress. Feeling frustrated we went in for a consultation only to discover my son had older brackets (not used much any more) and he confirmed that his last year and a half had been wasted. We consulted another orthodontist (who also agreed that we had a bad orthodontist) but felt like Dr. Zahrowski's office was the place for us because the staff was very friendly, professional, and they explain what is done to my son's braces every visit. My son has been going now for about 6 months and there is such a huge difference in his teeth (they even replaced his brackets with the newer ones). We have seen more progress with Dr. Zahrowski in just a few months than our last year and a half with our other orthodontist! My youngest son is now going to him (he was also at the bad orthodontist who just had him on a retainer) and it turns out he has the worst case (one side of the jaw is growing faster than the other which is setting off his center teeth and bite). Dr. Zahrowski explained the plan for him and told us that everything he is doing is to correct his jaw and avoid jaw surgery in a few years (which my niece had to go through). In the 2 months he has been going, his jaw has already moved and lining back up. I just feel like other orthodontists wouldn't have noticed this slight detail and Dr. Zahrowski really looks into the teenage facial growth in addition to the movement of teeth. I went to him for myself and for my child. My dental assistant friend recommended as Dr. Z worked on patients with difficult teeth problems. He is friendly and very skilled, and Sally in the office is the most helpful and nicest. He was so honest that he wouldn't put more braces on my teeth after having to stop braces because of gum problems, while some others in the area wanted money so they wanted to put braces on me. He doesn't use those flashy "sales ladies" like other orthodontists but takes his time to do the consultation himself. I like that because this is an important health issue! He didn't want to put braces on my child until ready, while again other doctors didn't care and wanted to start right away. He did the same for my friend's child.
