They are known for using modern technology and offering services for all ages ~ children, teens, and adults, such as Invisalign or your traditional braces. Dr. Lee, Dr. Nguyen and their whole staff are so pleasant to interact and work with. They truly care about each and every one of their patients, young to old. They are super friendly and very efficient. The ortho office has a modern, ultra cute & chic aesthetic. Very inviting & sterile clean. Both my kids get their orthodontic needs (braces) here. My teenage son choosing the traditional braces option and my teenage daughter opt'ing for the newer Invisalign technology. Such a vast difference from the days when I had braces. Lol Wish I had options like these and not having to gag every time I had to have an impression made of my teeth. IYKYK YUCK! Now they have cool camera wands to do all that..like what?!?! I had a jaw expander and braces as a kid and Invisalign once before as an adult and my teeth still didn't touch. She was confident she could close it and make it better and I'm so glad I trusted her! My husband actually had a different reason for seeing her. Dr.P did Invisalign to get his teeth prepped for a double jaw surgery to correct his underbite. He just had the surgery last week, so he'll still be working with Dr.P to get everything perfect once he's healed, but she definitely made the surgeons work a lot easier. Also, she genuinely cares about you as a person. She always asks about our son and I made an offhand comment about his snoring and she asked a couple of follow up questions and asked me to bring him in for a scan so she could check his airway. Sure enough, he had almost a completely restricted airway during to enlarged adenoids and tonsils. She suggested we see an ENT to get him evaluated since that's not her specialty and they confirmed her suspicions based on the scans. Moreover, she texted me the day before my husband's surgery to wish him luck and to offer a home cooked meal or door dash to make sure my son and I didn't forget to eat while taking care of my husband post surgery. I cannot thank her enough for caring for my entire family!

I simply couldn't believe the attitude and level of professionalism they displayed. Afterward, I checked the clinic's website and social media pages and noticed that most of the staff members who used to work there are no longer with the clinic. Perhaps that's one of the reasons for the decline in the overall patient experience. My experience during treatment was also extremely disappointing. 1. Constant overbooking. Appointments were frequently triple-booked, resulting in very long wait times. 2. Poor communication and coordination. The assistants, front desk staff, and doctor often gave completely inconsistent information. For example, one assistant told me to come back for attachments at my next appointment. When I arrived, the doctor said they weren't needed at all. That trip turned out to be a complete waste of time. 3. Rushed and sloppy care. Because the clinic sees such a high volume of patients, everything felt rushed. Some assistants lacked attention to detail, and the front desk staff provided poor customer service. After six months of treatment, I was told that my treatment was complete. However, I don't see that my primary concern has been addressed, and I have not received any explanation. As a patient, what I care about is: Whether the doctor genuinely listened to my concerns. Whether there was a clear and measurable treatment plan. Whether each stage of treatment was actually carried out according to that plan. Whether the treatment plan was adjusted appropriately based on my progress. Whether the final result achieved the agreed-upon goals; and, if not, why. I haven't seen those qualities demonstrated.

That level of attentiveness meant so much. Dr. Phillip (I think his name) was also wonderful. He didn't treat me like just another number in line. He actually listened, was personable, and made me feel heard during a time when I was already stressed and uncomfortable. Ramon, who took my X-rays, was just as kind and professional. He made the process feel comfortable, chatted to ease the tension, and even gave me helpful pointers about boot options and navigating insurance. That kind of care makes a big difference. What really stood out to me is that every single person I interacted with was personable and compassionate. Urgent cares can often feel overwhelming, crowded, or impersonal but this place felt organized, clean, and calm. People are quick to write bad reviews, but not always quick to acknowledge good service. The people here truly made my experience better during a hard and frustrating time. What a gorgeous facility, did not feel like an urgent care nor even doctor office waiting room, and even the rooms were a great size, extremely clean and pleasant to be in. The nursing staff was very friendly (Nick and Darling) and helpful and Dr Phil was super attentive to my needs and provided excellent care with little to no wait whatsoever. We had an incredible experience taking our 8-year-old to get an evaluation for braces. From the moment we walked in, the warm and engaging staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. There was no wait time, which made our visit even more enjoyable. A special touch that delighted my daughter was seeing her name written on a welcome board at the entrance -- it made her feel so special and excited. The office had a fantastic rewards system that added a fun twist to the appointment. My daughter got to spin a wheel and earn points for prizes, which made the whole experience even more memorable and something she is looking forward to next time. The dentist was incredibly friendly, informative, and sweet. She made sure my daughter felt at ease and explained everything in a way that was easy for both of us to understand. We were happy to hear that my daughter's teeth are looking good, and the recommendation was to check back in six months. This will be a pretty comprehensive review of Updike Orthodontics in Irvine CA. A friend recommended this orthodontist to me and I'm so glad she did. Like most reviews on Yelp, there are nothing but good things to say about Dr. Sophia Updike and her staff. Orthodontics: Dr. Updike and her staff provided such amazing orthodontic care. Anel was the assistant that worked with me and she was the best :). Everyone in that office knew their stuff and I always felt like I could talk to them about my questions or concerns and they always took care of me. I just got my braces off and I'm very happy with my results. Atmosphere: Video games in the lobby... Need I say more. I can, but it was kinda fun to play video games if you happen to be waiting. It's a very family friendly environment where everyone knows your name. It's very clean and sanitary, of course. I brought all three of my kids to Dr. Updike, and I couldn't be happier with the care they've received. My youngest daughter had a particularly challenging case, her teeth were growing in crisscrossed positions. From the very beginning, Dr. Updike carefully explained what to expect, answered all of our questions, and approached her case with incredible patience and expertise. AMAZING ORTHODONTIST! I am very particular about the doctor I choose for my kids. Before I went to Dr. Updike, I went to a few other orthodontist to get multiple opinions, right away, from the friendly staff greeting me and conversating with me I can tell it was a great office. I didn't wait long, and my first consultation was free! She spent a good amount of time with us, and took the time to explain things about my (two) kids teeth. She didn't recommend pulling teeth like the others did, she didn't push me into starting treatment right now just to make money, and she was very straight forward and gave genuine opinions. She is so compassionate and truly caring, its such a relief to have found her. It's rare to find a doctor that you feel so comfortable with, with a friendly staff, and an extremely knowledgeable doctor. Our kids have been patients with Dr. Update since soon after she set up her practice here and we've been thrilled with the experience. The office staff and overall experience is friendly and inviting, and we really appreciate the level of personal communication we receive from Dr. Updike. She takes the time to build a relationship with her patients and to explain everything clearly with us. Our kids have always felt comfortable coming to appointments. The quality of care has been wonderful. Both of our kids have completed their main orthodontic work and are now dealing with retainers. The results are fantastic. Both my daughters have gotten their braces with Updike Orthodontics. My oldest daughter has gone through Phase I and Phase II and her teeth look amazing. It simply floors me how Dr. Updike has changed the facial structure and smile of both my daughters. Dr. Updike always takes the time to show me their progress and doesn't make me feel hurried at all. The staff is always welcoming, professional and very efficient at what they do. We LOVE the new office and the Wii game that can be played while waiting in the waiting room. And my daughters enjoy all the contests the office offers. Even though this office is not close to where we live, I would never think of switching to another orthodontist. It was such a thoughtful touch and really set the tone for the rest of my treatment. She works with the latest technology and from the first review you can already see the smile you will have at the end of the process. Dr. Updike & her staff are the best! She's very reasonably priced, has amazing hours & is always very accommodating! All of which, makes it very easy for working parents to bring their children in for appointments! She even works Fridays & has Saturday appointments as well! Which trust me, is pretty rare! The staff is always friendly, up beat & professional. My youngest son just got his braces off & his teeth look absolutely beautiful! I selected her after I met with few Orthordotice in Irvine area. My first impression of her is that she is so sharp in her field yet she was so sweet, and her plan was very clear and she explained it to us well. I also checked her profession background, it was only stunning. And the last she charges moderate and reasonable. After 14 months(4 months shorter than projected) treatment my daughter smiles like a champion. Nothing can be better than this. We are so grateful that we had a right orthodontist. Dr. Updike and her staff are amazing. I have been a client for almost two years now, and my teeth look perfect. They are always open for emergencies, and are willing to help with anything you need. The staff are welcoming, and Dr. Updike is very attentive. I was pleasantly surprised to see her remember small details about me, and I always felt attended to. I am so happy I chose Updike Orthodontics for my son! This was our first experience with orthodontics and it was a great one. Dr. Updike and all her staff are wonderful. Appointments are quick, everyone is very nice. Fair practice with great results! My son's smile went from teeth turned in and all over the place to a beautiful smile I could not have imagined! Took less time than expected, about 23 months. We moved about 20 miles west and I will still be taking my daughter for a consultation in a few months to get because I was very pleased with everything. read more

Dr. Updike and her staff treated both of our children. We were extremely pleased with the service and attention to detail from Dr. Updike. From the start, Dr. Updike was very clear with the treatment plans. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and the appointments are efficient. The new offices are bright, clean and cheery. This place definitely deserves 5 stars!! I had braces for 2-3 years and each time i came up for a check out, I was in and out fast but efficient. All of the orthodontists let me know how my teeth were doing, what i should and should not do, and how i can better the process. Not only are their work is incredible but their service is great! Getting braces can feel like a big deal, but the team was absolutely wonderful with my daughter. Their gentle and kind approach truly turned the whole experience into a pleasant one. We still felt like her treatment was being closely monitored, and whenever we had a question between appointments, Dr. Junyi and her team responded quickly and were always helpful. Ms. Anna, who walked us through everything and helped with scheduling before we met the doctor, was wonderful. She made the whole process feel easy and organized. The front desk team is always friendly and truly lives up to the name - Kind Smiles (very onbrand :) ). Dr. Gary made my son's extractions surprisingly smooth and gentle. As a parent, that's the moment you're bracing yourself for... but he explained everything so clearly and kept ALL of us at ease the entire time. We didn't even need the laughing gas. :):) Dr. Junyi has such a friendly, positive energy and communicates proactively about what to expect and what needs to be done.
