I've been meaning to write this review for a while, and I'm finally getting around to it. When my 8 year old daughter needed orthodontic treatment, we visited several orthodontic offices in Orange County. This was all new to her and she was really nervous and scared. Out of all the places we visited, Salt and Light Orthodontics was the only one where she felt truly comfortable. She actually chose this office herself! Once she started treatment, she didn't just feel comfortable. She loved going soooo much that she would count down the days until her next appointment. Dr. Stephanie is a wonderful orthodontist, and she's so good with kids. My daughter and I were both completely new to the process and had so many questions. Dr. Stephanie took the time to explain everything clearly and made each step easy for us to understand. My daughter needed two phases of treatment and her first phase went smoothly and finished right on the timeline Dr. Stephanie had given us. She came out of it with such a beautiful smile! We're now waiting for her remaining baby teeth to fall out before starting Phase 2, and my daughter asks me every day "When can I start again? I want to go see Dr. Stephanie!" We had a great experience with Dr. P and the entire orthodontic team throughout my daughter's Invisalign treatment. My daughter genuinely enjoyed every visit. Appointments were always short and efficient, and we never waited more than about five minutes. The office is clean, bright, and welcoming, and the staff are wonderful with kids. Everyone speaks in such a calm and mellow way that my daughter never felt nervous or stressed. Dr. P was also very thoughtful about finding the best treatment approach specifically for my daughter. For example, she recommended an Invisalign expander instead of traditional braces and later suggested Vivera retainers during the day rather than a night retainer that would make talking more difficult. We really appreciated that the treatment plan was based on what would work best for her rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. With good discipline, my daughter completed her Invisalign treatment in less than a year and a half, and we are very happy with the results. The office is also very well run. The payment plan was explained clearly from the beginning, and the front desk staff often recognized us as soon as we walked in and had us checked in right away. Dr.P is literally the best orthodontist! My husband and I have both gotten Invisalign with her for different reasons. I had a jaw expander and braces as a kid and Invisalign once before as an adult and my teeth still didn't touch. She was confident she could close it and make it better and I'm so glad I trusted her! My husband actually had a different reason for seeing her. Dr.P did Invisalign to get his teeth prepped for a double jaw surgery to correct his underbite. He just had the surgery last week, so he'll still be working with Dr.P to get everything perfect once he's healed, but she definitely made the surgeons work a lot easier. Also, she genuinely cares about you as a person. She always asks about our son and I made an offhand comment about his snoring and she asked a couple of follow up questions and asked me to bring him in for a scan so she could check his airway. Sure enough, he had almost a completely restricted airway during to enlarged adenoids and tonsils. She suggested we see an ENT to get him evaluated since that's not her specialty and they confirmed her suspicions based on the scans. Moreover, she texted me the day before my husband's surgery to wish him luck and to offer a home cooked meal or door dash to make sure my son and I didn't forget to eat while taking care of my husband post surgery. Truly an answer to prayer! Our 14 yo son with Down syndrome whose mostly nonverbal has gone to many orthodontic consultations. We've said he must have palate expanders. But we were told by most of the offices that he probably won't be able to do it. The minute we met Dr. Stephanie's team she was a breath of fresh air. Can't speak highly enough about Dr. Purnomo and the entire salt and light team! I can't recommend Dr. Stephanie Purnomo enough! From the first consult with 3D imaging and thorough explanation of the treatment we were impressed! But more than anything I truly appreciate Dr. P's genuine concern and support for my daughter who is deathly afraid of pain and needles. My daughter had a case where one of her adult molar was growing sideways under her baby teeth, so we had to remove few baby teeth and wait for the tooth to hopefully straighten out and come up as it should. It took a lot of planning and waiting and it is finally coming up as it should! All thanks to Dr. P's careful planning and support, we can avoid going to an oral surgeon. When my daughter's bracket fell off on a weekend, Dr. P was the one reaching out early the next morning. This review is long overdue, but I had a great experience with Dr. Purnomo and the team at Salt & Light Orthodontics. I started Invisalign in October 2024 and finished my last tray a couple of months ago. My dentist had been telling me to do it for years, but since she didn't specialize in orthodontics, I decided to comb through the many orthodontists in OC with great reviews. I ended up going with Salt & Light because it was close to me and their website felt welcoming and made it very easy to book an appointment. More importantly, they helped set up an affordable monthly payment plan using my HSA, which made the financial burden of Invisalign treatment infinitely more manageable. Plus, I read on the website that Dr. Purnomo went to UCI, so of course I had to support a fellow Anteater! Dr. Purnomo is incredibly kind, and the whole team is welcoming, professional, and very detail oriented. It honestly felt like everyone there was more excited and cared more about my results than I did! Dr. Purnomo also shared my scans with my dentist to align on my treatment plan. Overall, the process was smooth and I couldn't be happier with my results. Plus, I'm glad I no longer have to hear my dentist tell me how badly I need braces! I started my Invisalign journey with Salt and Light Ortho in December 2024 after they were recommended by my dentist who also went there for Invisalign. Her teeth were perfect so I knew they would do a great job. From the consultation, they were very upfront and clear with the Invisalign process. I heard some other places don't even warn their patients that they might have attachments, IPR, or elastics. Dr. Purnomo told me immediately that I would require those things, and had models to show me what those things would look like so I could be prepared. As for the price, it varies depending on the case but to be honest the price is very reasonable for the amount of work my teeth needed. I would definitely pay it again if needed. Additionally, the time estimate she gave me for my Invisalign process was very accurate. Some places try to oversell how fast they can get you your perfect smile, but Dr. Purnomo prioritizes the health of your teeth so she will not rush your Invisalign timeline. As for the quality of care, I have nothing but good things to say. They always addressed my concerns and walked me through the process at every appointment. They have never been late for any of my appointments and I believe I had over 20 appointments with them. There were times where I thought my teeth were good enough but Dr. Purnomo only strives for perfection. Towards the end of my Invisalign journey, my teeth were becoming very stubborn but the team was always patient with me and never made me feel like a burden. I never felt rushed to end my treatment early or to accept anything less than perfect. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. If you are looking for a place that cares about you, your teeth, and your time then this is the place. I would go back here in a heartbeat if I ever need orthodontic work again and that is saying a lot because the drive to this office from my residence is anywhere from 50 mins to 2 hours with traffic. My daughter got her expander, braces and then retainer with Dr. P and crew and it has been the BEST experience of care. I was searching for an orthodontist in Orange County for a second opinion about getting Invisalign and decided to visit Salt and Light Orthodontics. The appointment process was very easy, and the receptionist was incredibly helpful. Even now, when I call, they always greet me by name.
