We've had such a great experience at Kind Smiles so far. My son saw Dr. Gary twice for extractions before starting his orthodontic treatment with Dr. Junyi, and both doctors have been amazing. Before starting, we did a lot of research, comparing recommendations from friends whose kids do the same close-contact sports, reading reviews, and basically going down a full orthodontist deep dive. That's how we found Dr. Junyi, and we're so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the place just felt right. Warm, welcoming, and no intimidating dental office energy. Ms. Anna, who walked us through everything and helped with scheduling before we met the doctor, was wonderful. She made the whole process feel easy and organized. The front desk team is always friendly and truly lives up to the name - Kind Smiles (very onbrand :) ). Dr. Gary made my son's extractions surprisingly smooth and gentle. As a parent, that's the moment you're bracing yourself for... but he explained everything so clearly and kept ALL of us at ease the entire time. We didn't even need the laughing gas. :):) Dr. Junyi has such a friendly, positive energy and communicates proactively about what to expect and what needs to be done. When my daughter was born, she had a significant tongue tie that impacted her ability to nurse successfully. We ended up scheduling a consultation with Kind Smiles and met with Dr. Gary to discuss treatment options and decided to proceed with the tongue tie release/frenectomy. He made sure to spend lots of time with us answering all of our questions and never made us feel rushed! When we came back for the procedure Dr. Gary was SO kind and made sure that our baby was as comfortable as she could be and that we understood all of the outpatient care to ensure that the procedure was as effective as possible. He even called us that evening (even though they were going on their holiday vacation and the office was closed) to check on our daughter and make sure she was doing okay! She healed beautifully from the procedure and we hope to return to Dr. Gary's care when she gets older for all of her dental care! You can tell he really loves his job and loves kids! I can't say enough about how amazing Dr. Gary and the staff were today. My 3.5-year-old was having a very off day -- so different from our visit 6 months ago when she did great. Today she came with full fear and tantrums, but everyone stayed incredibly patient and kind the entire time. They tried everything to help her feel comfortable, even letting her pick a show she likes. When that didn't work, they moved us to another room to make her more at ease. Dr. Gary even took time to do a little story time until she started to warm up. He was able to check her teeth and complete the cleaning and flossing even though she cried the whole time. We couldn't get X-rays since she refused and kept hiding behind me, but the staff stayed calm, gentle, and patient through it all. Even though my daughter didn't cooperate, the experience was still so positive because of how caring and patient the whole team was. Truly an amazing office. On the 3rd floor in suite 350. The vibe inside the office is so cute. Very modern and cute, aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It's not your old grimy office. It's very welcoming. My daughters enjoyed waiting in the iPad area where they could play games. Front reception office was as very nice and informative. The hygienists were very gentle and patient. Dr Gary Lui was gentle and kind. Very knowledgeable and put the girls at ease. We were referred to her by our primary dentist for othodontic care for my 12yr daughter. From booking the initial complimentary consulation to walking in the door we knew this office was special. The front office staff is warm and welcoming. Anna, the intake counselor was knowledgeable and professional and Dr. Junyi was so thorough and passionate about the quality of care given to each and every patient that she exceeded all of my expectations. This review is given earnestly, eventhough we couldn't go with her office (due to us not having insurance so the price was just a bit out of reach for me) but I would highly recommend this office to anyone. Walked into an immaculate reception area with bright colors, fun and inviting, especially for kids. Got checked in and our kids got a pep talk on oral hygiene and cavity prevention. Moved on to x-rays and dental cleaning for the 4 year old and dental exam with Dr. Gary for the 2 year old with tooth brushing, flossing, and fluoride varnish. I was told by my sister in law to get a dental visit for my 9 month old because he already has 6 teeth ! He is my first baby & making a dental appointment was never on my mind. I always thought the first appointment was later, maybe around 3 or 4 ? I learned the first appointment is made when they turn 1 or when the first tooth comes in - whatever comes first ! 5 Stars for the staff dealing with my silliness with the insurance & they are patient ! We did back & forth a bit because I gave them the wrong insurance the first time around. They could've gotten impatient for something easy to do but they were great to deal with ! The only thing that slightly was annoyed was on the day of the appointment, one of the staff kept calling my son a girl, kept referring to him as her. I had to correct her 2 or 3 times. The office atmosphere itself - 5 stars. It is so fun in there & who wouldn't want to be there ! I gotta admit that's why I picked this place ! The atmosphere is bright, cute, & very inviting for a child that's scared of the dentist. Upon arrival, your child's name is on the screen which I think is just darling ! I wish my dentist was like this when I was a kid ! We were brought to the cuddle room which is used for infants & when they are ready will be graduated to the big chair. I love this idea ! My 9 month old did pretty good for his first visit ! The only time he cried was with the dry brushing & the fluoride. Dr. Gary Liu is excellent with kids & has a great deal of patience. He doesn't rush you through which most dentists tend to do. I even asked for photos & he was happy to fulfill my request ! Had to document my son's first visit. Also bonus points for Dr. Gary Liu on pronouncing my son's name right ! At the end of the appointment your little one gets to choose a prize ! There are sooo many !! I love the variety. So I really really wanted a t shirt. However I was told they are $20. I understand the cost of living, overhead fees, etc in a business. But as a person that works in the apparel & marketing industry, giving a t shirt here & there also benefits business, aka free advertising ! What an amazing practice! I saw them on Instagram and decided to make an appointment. The office is near Irvine Spectrum on the third floor. Huge office space. It feels open, clean, modern, and great vibes. They never put your kid's name on the tv to welcome them. They have water, coffee, tea. The part I dread the most is dealing with the front desk people. Usually they are rude, not helpful, and wants your money. Not here! Everyone at the front desk was cheerful and helpful. Digging the vibe for sure. Dr. Gary was so gentle and understanding. We went to Dr. Gary for a second opinion for our four year old daughter. We appreciated that he was more conservative in his recommendations and was mindful of our daughter's age.
