Met friends at Zaffiro's for dinner, a place they consider one of their favorites. They have always raved about how incredible the pizza is, and I have to agree. This old school, family owned restaurant is very much a neighborhood classic that has stood the test of time. The thin crust is the perfect base for the amazingly tangy Italian sauce. The toppings are generously portioned, and the pizza (available in 12" & 14") is cut into squares, which make it all too easy to eat more! We started with the fried mushrooms and eggplant, which were very generously sized. Our table of four barely made a dent. The breading on both was great, trapping in the heat, flavors and firmness of the veggies. The eggplant especially, which in my experience can be mushy, was excellent. I loved how it was served with lemon wedges. The tartness of the lemon mixed with the zest of the marinara sauce made the eggplant something I could have eaten just by itself. The restaurant has a bar area first, then a dining room adjacent. The tables here are packed in pretty tight. We ended up at a corner table, and could bump elbows with the people sitting next to us. Still, everyone was respectful of each other's space and no issues were had. Our servers maneuvered through effortlessly and quickly.
Second time visiting since moving here and it did not disappoint. It would've been nice if it were cooler inside especially since the smoke/air quality was so bad outside. Service was solid, our waitress was kind and efficient. Had the 1/2 salad - it was very tasty, light and a large portion along with a large pizza (half pepperoni and half everything but fish) between two people and had plenty to take with us.
When I walked in, it was warm and a little humid inside despite some ceiling fans running to the point that I sweat, and the lighting was dim. The pizza with anchovies was too salty, so I don't recommend ordering anchovies on pizza. Also, the pizza itself wasn't even that special since it tasted similar to thin-crust pizza from Pizza Hut or Domino's. On the other hand, the server was friendly. Overall, it's a historic Milwaukee restaurant, but they need to step it up.
Tops for a thin crust pie in the the most real-deal, traditional Milwaukee bar setting. I was hustling to catch a flight and had the urge to detour for pizza. The Zaffiro team of Kyle at the bar, and host/server Sydney graciously served me a small pepperoni pie which was perfect for solo dining. Also, I had a brief chat w the pizza chef on a previous visit. Kudos to him for the quality of fare! I requested extra crispy and indeed it was. Perfectly done w char on edge and bottom. The cozy atmosphere adds character. I love the handwashing sink adjacent to the bar (then you know which patrons have good dining manners!) Def worth repeat visits when I'm in my hometown.
Bay View is outside the delivery zone we ordered a large, pepperoni pizza and cheese bread for pick up. It was still fairly early for a Friday so they said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Plenty of street parking when I got there. I liked the cracker thin crust but think this pizza is probably best eaten right away. The cheese bread didn't appear to have any cheese on it so I think we might have been given regular garlic bread by mistake. The hostesses were also taking the phone orders. One had an ear bud in so I didn't realize she was talking to someone. When I heard her say a total I told her I already paid the other hostess. That's when I she motioned she was on the phone. So just be cautious haha. I'd go back to try the pizza dining in.
Zaffiros is our go to special occasion pizza. We love that they offer green olives and that the crust is so cracker thin. Their large pizza is a bit smaller than most and I do wish they had a XL, as one pizza is barely enough for two adults without additional apps. However, the pizza is amazing and never really disappoints. We eat in and take out, both of which are green choices. Eating in can take a while though, they're usually swamped, but in the best way.
Awesome service, food and the vibe was fantastic. Definitely a local establishment that has been here for years.
When you walk into Zaffiro's you walk into a Time Machine! The pizza is cracker crust- we chose a pizza with too many toppings so the crust was a little soft so I suggest less toppings. The cheese bread is what dreams are made of- light big and fluffy. Full of cheese and comes with red sauce to dip. We sat at the bar because the wait time was too long for table service- so go before 5 pm to get a table or expect to wait! We had so much fun and enough to take home.

The pizza was exactly what you'd hope for from a tavern-style spot -- thin crust, cut into perfect pieces,and absolutely delicious. We're from New Jersey, so we've had our fair share of great pizza, and I can honestly say this was really, really good. A hidden gem worth finding!
After not having it for over 5 years I just thought why not get one of the best thin crust pizzas in town and it did not disappoint. From the cheese to the sauce to the thin crust, it doesn't get much better. One of the best pizza spots in town and for 12$ for 10 inch cheese onion pizza at lunch not bad for your buck either!

Yummy pizza! The crust is super thin, thinner than NY style pizza - that being said, I would heavily recommend dining in instead of taking out. If you take out, I'd imagine the crust gets soggy quickly. I split this pizza with my brother and it was more than enough for us, we ended up having a little bit of leftover. The service was friendly! Our server was attentive and warm. Interior has an old charm vibe - apparently they still use the same decorations from when it first opened. In the end there was a bit of a billing hiccup and it took about 3 calls over the span of 3 weeks to get it fixed. That was a little bit of a nuisance since I had to keep calling and asking them to fix it, and they ultimately did. Free street parking in the area. Ok my first mistake when moving to the Milwaukee area and knowing nothing about this place was getting a beef sandwich. Knowing more about this restaurant today I ordered a small sausage pizza. The place it self is dated and divy so it's not a good date place. It's small with a small bar as you walk in and a dinner room on the other side. I called in a small sausage pizza and I was told 30 minutes while I was parked in front of the place with no visible traffic which I thought was a long time. 25 minutes later I go and get it. I ate it one minute after walking out and you could tell it was sitting around for awhile because the cheese had no pull and it was solidifying. It did look good with that thin cracker crust and reminded me of when I lived in Chicago we would order this style of pizza to the bar. The pizza had a nice thin cracker crust. The sauce was on the sweet side. The Italian sausage was the star because it was the quintessential perfect pizza sausage and seasoned nicely like a good Italian sausage. The pizza was still good and delicious but fresh out of the oven would the way to go. Overall if the pizza was fresh out of the oven and you sat in the restaurant is the way to go in my opinion. read more

My friend and I arrived at the restaurant probably shortly after 130 on Sunday afternoon. It was extremely quiet with maybe only a couple people sitting at the bar. We opted to sit at a red checker cloth table. Super cute place with very classic Italian old-school restaurant feel. Our waitress was nice and accommodating, I don't remember her name. My friend had a red wine and I had Prosecco. We both ordered pizzas because of course you have to have the pizza!! it was delicious and I cannot wait to go back! The crust and sauce are the star of the show. The crust is cracker, thin style, and the sauce is acidic and has a kick, just as I like it. I ordered my pizza with extra sauce, but because of the cracker thin crust, it does not necessarily stand up to extra sauce, so I'm not sure I would do that the next time I went. They do not skimp on toppings at this place. We also had the deep fried mushrooms that are served with a red sauce and they were divine. I really can't wait to go to this establishment again.! read more
The most flavorful microwaveable crust flavored pizza. Old school vibe, celebrating 70 years. Very Italian. Small place. Tiniest stage and no sink in the bathroom (it's outside the bathroom.) Overall, it's worth trying Milwaukee style crust (I did like the burnt edges.) read more

Super wafer thin crust old school pizza to die for. So so good. Was a bit concerned seeing all the pies come out well done with maybe burnt edges but it didn't matter, the flavor was so good and the CRUNCH through every bite no exaggeration. The light toppings high oven heat and wafer thin crust was perfect, never had a crispier pizza and I've had a lot. Can't wait to return read more

We got seated right away which was a plus at 7:30 pm. Zaffiro's has a cozy feel and love the artwork on the walls. The waitress was fantastic and food came out in a timely manner. The EBF (Everything But Fish) pizza came out perfect. My husband raved that the crust was so crispy and thin even with all the toppings on it. The toppings go to the edge and the sauce was more savory than sweet. We loved it!! read more

First time at Zaffiro's trying to see what the hype is all about. Since it is know to have cracker thin crust. I went ez on the toppings. Sausage, onion, green peppers. But really wanted to get the EBF thinking it might fall apart. Sauce is different. Too little cheese on it. Mostly tasted the sausage which had a spicy hint to it. And crust lived up to its hype. Almost like a very thin version on Ned's. Would I come back maybe. But still have not found that ummpf flavor yet that causes cravings. read more
Zaffiro's is a classic! Went on Monday to get their $15 large two topping pizza deal, we got onion and green peppers. It was delicious as always, the inside is such a vibe, think old school pizza place. Our server was awesome, good banter and very quick! read more

Somehow I haven't been inside the original Zaffiro's in years. I love being able to get it at the movies, but I've been annoyed that I'm not in their delivery zone. Nothing has changed in the interior - possibly ever. This is a straight up old school Wisconsin tavern with a small dining room on the side. Service was very friendly. The place was packed with people waiting in line to be seated or to pick up to go orders. The pizza was predictably great - slightly charred cracker crust, plenty of toppings, good sauce proportion. We had three different types at the table and everyone was happy. Why four stars? Getting the food on our table took a really, really long time. Still a classic though. read more

Zaffiro's was recommended by a Milwaukee local who told me it was "the best pizza in the city." Naturally I had to see what all the fuss was about. If you aren't a fan of super thin crust pizza, this won't be your cup of tea. We started with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. We didn't realize it, but our server brought us the wrong bottle. She realized it before she brought us the bill. The one she brought us was a cheaper bottle and she gave us like $10 off for the mistake, so we didn't really care because the wine we drank was still tasty. We ordered a half salad which was still too big for two people. It didn't taste like any dressing was on the salad so our server brought us a little bowl of dressing and all was good. We ordered the pepperoni special pizza which is the exact setup of virtually every pizza we like ordering so it worked out well. Hubby and I were both impressed with the cracker-like crunch of the crust. The pie was topped with a generous amount of toppings. I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce. I felt like flavor was lacking. Overall, it was a tasty meal with a funny server that was having an off day, but it didn't bring down her mood at all. read more
