Great Thai food! We've been waiting for a good Thai spot for years. This is easily the best in the Antioch,Pittsburg,Brentwood area. Tried the Khao Soi for the first time, amazing! This place is surprisingly very, very good! I grew up eating Thai food and it's been a struggle finding a place that isn't afraid of seasoning. It's definitely better than some places I've tried in Concord/WC. We ordered the Lao sausage, Lao style jerky, khao soi curry, I forgot the pronunciation but it's a ground pork, rice and fried egg dish, and pad see ew with chicken. I was super impressed that the chicken was moist and not super dry. The Khao Soi is probably the best I've ever had. The Lao style jerky was delicious but I wish it came with a little more meat. My husband devoured the Lao sausage and plans to get it every time. He liked the ground pork but was a bit sweeter compared to the Thai dishes he's used to back in Sac. The pad see ew was as expected, good for a dish that's simple. Next time, I'd like to try to roti app and dessert. I will definitely come back for the Khao soi and my husband will be back to order more Lao sausage. They did forget to pack our crispy pork belly, but thankfully I live close so it was prepared right away and they were very apologetic. This Thai/ Lao restaurant just opened not long ago and already received a lot of local praise! We had to give it a try and it did not disappoint! We ordered: Tom Kha Soup with Shrimps - super flavorful and rich, very generous portions with 6 shrimps. The only thing I would suggest is that they should provide a ladle with the soup. It was hard to use the individual sized spoon to divide the soup Pad Thai with Pork - absolutely amazing!!! Depth of flavor and very close to the authentic Pad Thai you'd actually get in Thailand. Definitely one of the best in the area that I've tried (and maybe even neighboring towns). Big portion and pork were tender and flavorful. Khai Soi - not many restaurants make this dish. The curry is on the sweet side which I love, noodles are just right and not overcooked. The fried noodles on top are perfectly crispy and not oily. They use chicken breast for the shredded chicken. Service was good, our server looked new to the team. He was very nice, and was teaching the owner how to use the POS and other technology. We dined in after lunch hour so it was quiet. AC isn't strong at all when we dine in so it's a little stuffy. But I do remember the previous restaurant at the same spot has the exact same issue. I can't wait to try other items on the menu! Ordered papaya salad and pad Thai today. Very delicious and authentic but .... too cheap. I'm afraid with these prices they will not stay long in business. It's great to have amazing and authentic Tai food! I've eaten at few Thai restaurants in the area and this ranks pretty high. I've traveled in Thailand and the food tastes authentic. I have had the Tom Kha, pumpkin curry, spicy eggplant, pineapple fried rice, sweet sticky rice with mango and the mango mouse. Everything was AMAZING. It was only two people working but they worked their tail ends off. They still got the food out to us promptly, while taking care of other guests. There's plenty of off street parking but the place is fairly small so space it limited. Get the word out...this place is great! Happen to try out the spot for lunch. Got a match smoothies, lao sausage and duck curry. It's a small restaurant with a couple of tables, pretty simple and not too done up. Service was quick and efficient. Food was quite delicious. I really enjoyed the laos sausage and it can be a meal by itself with sticky rice. Price was also reasonable. This is a newly opened Thai and Lao restaurant, which is a great addition to Pittsburg, which has been in long need of a local Thai takeout spot. We got the Pad Thai, Som Tum (Papaya Salad), and Pad Krapow (Thai holy basil stir fry). Everything tasted delicious, my only feedback is that the food was a little sweet overall, but they're probably catering to people who are used to sweet Thai takeout. The pad Krapow could have been seasoned more heavily with oyster sauce or fish sauce, spicier, and use less dark soy sauce. I'm happy that they opened and hope they can do well! Go and support this local business, because Pittsburg needs more local spots like these that add to the diversity of the dining there. Last thing I would add is that the people who run this place are Laotian, not Thai (though they both speak Thai). So I would encourage you to try the Lao dishes like: Laotian papaya salad, laab (Lao laab is different than Thai laab), Khao piak and Nam Khao. If you like Thai food, it's worth giving Lao food a try because it's very similar and just as good; if you're looking to try Lao food, Zaep Mekong is a tasty and authentic option. Delicious, tasty, and good size portions. I found Zaep Mekong while looking for a tasty curry and since the place is new, I decided to give it a try. I called ahead to place an order for dine in and they told me the food would be ready very quickly. I said okay, I'll be there. It took about 3 minutes for the food to arrive at my table. Amazing restaurant! So glad this came to town. Came here with my mom for dinner. They had plenty of vegetarian options. My mom and I shared spring rolls and the sauce was to die for. She had chicken wings and chicken pad Thai and she said it was excellent. I had tofu mango curry. The owner also brought out mango sticky rice which was the perfect end to the meal! A little bit disappointed. I was there the first week they opened. The egg roll and shrimp roll came out crispy, but this time it wasn't as crispy as the first time, little soggy. The pork belly wasn't as tasty as the first time also. Lastly the crab fried rice was really tasty and you see crab meat, this time it wasn't as tasty and just barely see the crab meat. So happy they opened a local Thai restaurant that also featured Lao cuisine and can seat people for lunch and dinner! The first time we had ordered to go, the second time we dined in. Not only was the food delicious, the service was excellent, the server was knowledgeable explaining the differences between Thai and Lao dishes, and she was so friendly and welcoming. Dishes we (tried combining the to go and dine in): Nam Khao (sticky rice salad), Lao Papaya Salad, green curry with shrimp (comes with rice), crispy vegetable rolls, Roti with yellow curry dipping sauce, Pad See Ew, Lao Sausage, and the Mango Sticky Rice. I place an order yesterday through DoorDash when I went to pick our order the restaurant was closed. DoorDash later sent me a message that the was ready at around 3:00 PM but restaurant was still closed, I imagine it was because of the temperature of 90 harder when cooking. They opened around 6:00 PM but I never received my food. My brother wanted to stop by and he said the food was great so I hope to try it next week. don't blame the restaurant for the misunderstanding but DoorDash because it showed the restaurant open and sent me messages saying the order was ready for pick up when it wasn't. That was my first using DoorDash but don't I will us it in the future and call the restaurant when I order. read more
