This Thai/ Lao restaurant just opened not long ago and already received a lot of local praise! We had to give it a try and it did not disappoint! We ordered: Tom Kha Soup with Shrimps - super flavorful and rich, very generous portions with 6 shrimps. The only thing I would suggest is that they should provide a ladle with the soup. It was hard to use the individual sized spoon to divide the soup Pad Thai with Pork - absolutely amazing!!! Depth of flavor and very close to the authentic Pad Thai you'd actually get in Thailand. Definitely one of the best in the area that I've tried (and maybe even neighboring towns). Big portion and pork were tender and flavorful. Khai Soi - not many restaurants make this dish. The curry is on the sweet side which I love, noodles are just right and not overcooked. The fried noodles on top are perfectly crispy and not oily. They use chicken breast for the shredded chicken. Service was good, our server looked new to the team. He was very nice, and was teaching the owner how to use the POS and other technology. We dined in after lunch hour so it was quiet. AC isn't strong at all when we dine in so it's a little stuffy. But I do remember the previous restaurant at the same spot has the exact same issue. I can't wait to try other items on the menu! This might be my new favorite to-go Thai food.

Came here a few days ago for lunch, food was great! Got their Pad Kee Mao lunch special, Lao sausage and ice coffee. Had to bring some curry home to try and it did not disappoint! Overall great good, lovely service, and quiet ambiance.

It breaks my heart when I see a restaurant close, especially a family owned business. There a story of struggle behind every closure. When a new place takes it place, we need to support them and welcome them to the neighborhood. Hello Zaep Mekong. I don't know Lao food too well but the ones I had were really good. The dishes I ordered were tasty. If you're reading this then you're a discerning foodie, let me save you some time. Just come here and order one of their noodle soup and a small dish. Let's keep these places open!

I order the Khao poon to go. Packaging-great and I love the bowl it comes in. Flavor is good but I wish I asked for some extra spice since it was a little on the sweet side for me. I didn't ask for anything extra this time but next time I plan on asking for some bamboo shoots to be added and what extras I can add into it. Excited to have a Thai/Laos spot in Pittsburg!

This is a newly opened Thai and Lao restaurant, which is a great addition to Pittsburg, which has been in long need of a local Thai takeout spot. We got the Pad Thai, Som Tum (Papaya Salad), and Pad Krapow (Thai holy basil stir fry). Everything tasted delicious, my only feedback is that the food was a little sweet overall, but they're probably catering to people who are used to sweet Thai takeout. The pad Krapow could have been seasoned more heavily with oyster sauce or fish sauce, spicier, and use less dark soy sauce. I'm happy that they opened and hope they can do well! Go and support this local business, because Pittsburg needs more local spots like these that add to the diversity of the dining there. Last thing I would add is that the people who run this place are Laotian, not Thai (though they both speak Thai). So I would encourage you to try the Lao dishes like: Laotian papaya salad, laab (Lao laab is different than Thai laab), Khao piak and Nam Khao. Those are the dishes I'm planning on trying on my next visit.

Zaep Mekong has wonderful food and welcoming service, with reasonable prices across the menu. The dining room feels warm and relaxed, soft lighting, wooden tables, and simple Southeast Asian decor create a cozy, unpretentious atmosphere that suits a casual meal or a low-key date night. Background music is quiet enough to talk over, and the staff's friendly presence adds to the comfortable, homey vibe. It can be difficult to find Lao restaurants, or Thai places that include Lao or Lao-style dishes, and Zaep Mekong blends the two cuisines very nicely. If you like Thai food, it's worth giving Lao food a try because it's very similar and just as good; if you're looking to try Lao food, Zaep Mekong is a tasty and authentic option. Khao piek was very flavorful, and my favorite savory dish was the Lao sausage with sticky rice and dipping sauce. For dessert, both the mango sticky rice and the mango mousse were delicious.

Delicious, tasty, and good size portions. I found Zaep Mekong while looking for a tasty curry and since the place is new, I decided to give it a try. I called ahead to place an order for dine in and they told me the food would be ready very quickly. I said okay, I'll be there. It took about 3 minutes for the food to arrive at my table. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion size, the presentation of the food, and ultimately the flavor. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for tasty Lao and Thai food. Last but not least, the price matches perfectly with the quality and amount of food you are getting.

Amazing restaurant! So glad this came to town. Came here with my mom for dinner. They had plenty of vegetarian options. My mom and I shared spring rolls and the sauce was to die for. She had chicken wings and chicken pad Thai and she said it was excellent. I had tofu mango curry. The owner also brought out mango sticky rice which was the perfect end to the meal! The service is excellent and efficient. We're never without something to eat. The he dining area was cute and clean. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

Their posted hours on the door as well as on Yelp say that they are open until 9 PM. When I walked in, there was no worker to be found. A young man emerged, and he looked confused. I asked what time they were open until. He said 9 PM. It seemed like he finally realized that I wanted to eat, and he tried to take my order to go, although he didn't give me a menu. I asked if I could be seated and get a menu. He awkwardly said OK. After I sat down, he came over and said that the cook might leave early, and that I might want to hurry up and order. I politely excused myself and said that I would come back another time. I then drove to another nearby restaurant that also is open till 9 PM. I didn't get there until 9:35 PM, but they served me and were very pleasant, and I had a great dinner. I don't understand why a business would post their hours and then not abide by them.

If you dined in on weekdays, you'd receive a complimentary Thai iced tea per guest and 10% off the total bill. That was nice! Had we known earlier, we definitely would've come more often--but unfortunately, we couldn't find any information about it online and only learned about it by visiting in person. And we only found out about it toward the end of the month. Hopefully, if they consider this type of promotion again, they'll advertise it more broadly. As for the food, we ordered some of our usual favorites, like their curry dishes. But this time, we also wanted to be adventurous and try something new/different, so we went with the following: Basil Duck Stir-Fry: This dish features "wok-fried crispy duck" with carrots, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, baby corn, and basil leaves. It was savory and delicious. However, I wouldn't describe the duck as "crispy," especially with the sauce softening it. That said, the flavor was still excellent, and we really enjoyed it. Pad See Ew: A classic Thai dish made with wide rice noodles stir-fried with egg, broccoli, and carrots, flavored with a dark sweet soy sauce. The wise noodles were nicely cooked and soaked up all that rich, sweet flavor. Definitely a favorite. One note of caution: when it comes to spice level, "medium" here means spicy! We ordered medium for all our dishes and were sweating by the end of the meal! Next time, we'll definitely go with mild. Service was excellent, and the restaurant was very nice and super well air-conditioned on the inside.

I gave Imm Thai another try, tried Thai Table, and even Glom Thai (which replaced Sistory), but none of them had the same quality or flavors I had been missing. Then I found out the owners of Sistory had opened Saneh Bangkok in Pleasant Hill, so we decided to celebrate my aunt's birthday there. Wow, it exceeded all of our expectations. Every single dish was outstanding, and honestly, even better than I remembered from Sistory. We ordered the Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Red Curry, Spring Rolls, and the fried chicken with roti and Massaman curry. Everything was perfectly seasoned, fresh, and packed with flavor. The noodles had that authentic wok flavor I'd been searching for, the curry was rich and delicious, and the roti with Massaman curry was absolutely incredible.
