    Chips, salsa and sangria
    Marti C.

Came here in a whim. Seated right away. Ambiance is typical mexican decor. It's a little dated but still good. We were prompty served with chips and salsa. Chips were hand fried and the salsa is homemade. It was good. I ordered green chicken enchiladas, and my husband got the green chilaquiles with a fried egg. Both the entrees were good. I didn't like the rice and beans much. The rice was bland, and the beans had an unusual flavor. We weren't sure if it was Chipotle or cumin? I ordered a sangria, which was good but not enough fruit flavor. It was heavy on the wine. Service was good, and efficient. Our server was delightful. Unimportant observation: the tables where we sat were VERY close together. If it is busy, you are gonna be cozy. Very little elbow room.

I gave them 5 stars because the food was amazing. (More on that coming). We came at lunch. There are 4 other tables and two couples at the bar, including us. Service was lacking. The bartender appears to also be a cook. He disappeared into the kitchen EVERY time we asked for anything The salsa was probably the best I've ever had! Chunks of tomato, onion, cilantro. The flavor was amazing! The photo doesn't do it justice. We agreed we would return for the salsa alone! It was Taco Tuesday so the traditional style tacos were $2 each with your choice of meat, tex mex style is $3. (About a .75 savings). I ordered one of each but ate the tex mex before I took the picture. Both with the marinated pork. The traditional, served on a corn tortilla, was topped with onion and cilantro. This was my favorite. Simple and classic- how can it go wrong? The pork was marinated and pulled. Very flavorful and tender. The tex mex taco was served on a flour tortilla topped with Sour Cream, lettuce, tomato. Also very good but there were so many toppings, I couldn't pick up the taco and fold it over. Don't,t worry- I still managed to inhale it. All is well. Hubs ordered the Gordita. 2 corn thick, handmade tortillas served as the top and bottom of his entree almost sandwich bun like. Inside the tortillas was cheese, sour cream, lettuce, refried beans, tomatoes, cheese and protein selection. He also ordered the marinated pork. Outstanding! He ordered two and said is was a good amount of food. A definite item to order again! When we visit a restaurant for the first time, we tend to go a little crazy. Today's crazy was fried ice cream. Golden vanilla ice cream rolled in corn flakes and shredded coconut (possibly) deep fried and topped with whipped cream, a cherry and Hershey's chocolate sauce. Hubs loved it and ate most of it. Restroom review: I'm a firm believer that a dirty public restroom indicates the condition of the kitchen. Both restrooms were clean with a professionally painted wall of graffiti. Men: check it out and follow directions.

One of my favorite spots to go to for their taco Tuesdays. Best $2 taco I've ever had.. I love to get them with extra lime. We also tried their pitcher margarita and queso. Their salsa and chips are also really good too!

    Burrito with queso

Stopped in for lunch and am surprised there aren't more reviews for this gem. We all enjoyed the chips and salsa before digging into tacos, vegetarian burrito and burrito with queso. The owner was very welcoming and proud of his food (family recipes) and restaurant. Definitely going back for Taco Tuesday.

Chicken fajita and refried beans (both bland and lack taste)

LOVE trying New Mexican restaurants, was in the area, saw the reviews, now here I am! Let me start by saying that while I wasn't a fan of the food, my server was very kind and welcoming I'm the only customer in the restaurant from start to end of my meal, so service is obviously quick. Server was very nice BUT she spent majority of the time on a FaceTime call. Unprofessional while on the clock especially since I spent the whole time trying to hear a podcast on my phone over the loud call and I was the only customer there. Food- there's no lunch menu so I got the smaller portion of fajitas from the "daily specials menu". Didn't get any tortillas and when requested, she advised that it would be $1 extra because "most people don't need/want them"??? For a FAJITA? In addition, fajitas only come with one side and no fixings. Beans or rice, and NO pico, lettuce, cheese, guacamole or sour cream. It would've been nice to know this prior to ordering bc I definitely asked if there was anything that it DIDNT come with aside from tortillas After eating, I wouldn't get fajitas or the refried beans again bc they were both bland Cheese dip was good, salsa giving store bought vibes Strawberry marg was fine- not much alcohol Price was fine, service was great aside from the constant personal phone calls, but I wouldn't recommend the food. There are too many awesome options in town for me to recommend!

    Chicken flauras

Visited on a Friday evening and was seated immediately. Chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. I ordered chicken flautas and a Tex Mex ground beef taco. All of it was delicious and affordable. I will definitely return to this little restaurant.

Great service, authentic Mexican dishes. $2 taco Tuesday at Zacatecas has quickly become our favorite place. During happy hour the margaritas are $6, yes please! If you haven't been here I highly recommend it. I love the free chips and salsa, yum! The tacos are very tasty. The kids meal is great. It comes with a side and a generous portion of food. The beans are wonderful.

Our new favorite Taco Tuesday happy hour! The peach margarita with sugar rim is so tasty! I love when they bring out free chips and salsa. The kid's quesadilla with shredded chicken is a good deal as my kid only eats half. $2 traditional tacos make for a great meal. I've tried all the meats and they are all well seasoned and delicious. The fajitas and enchiladas are so good. If you haven't tried this place yet, it's time to add it to your list!

The food was good and so was their service. They were out of the fried ice cream, but the waitress went out of her way to decorate these churros for us. I recommend this place, and they have great prices!

I came to this friendly establishment for a margarita and was greeted with a welcome and friendly conversation. I'm not just saying this because I was told how young I look. I found out soon enough that the tequila fruit cocktail was my drink of choice. Be careful,it's a creeper . I was also told about the daily happy hour and the weekly food specials. They have some of the best salsa I've had; it was very flavorful. I love this place!

Sorry I ate half of it...IT WAS SOOOO GOOD!!!!

Jamie is awesome he was our waiter tonight. He did a great job we chatted with him a little and he was so pleasant. I picked this restaurant because the food looked authentic compared to what I knew growing up visiting southern texas frequently and this did not disappoint at all! And Jamie made the experience so well rounded and enjoyable. The food was just amazing I can't say enough good things the gorditas were everything I expected and more. Home run guys. Thank you so much. My boyfriend was so happy too!!! This is what I've been telling him about my experiences as a kid! The carnitas, try the carnitas!! Jamie, thank you again!!!

Some of the worst Mexican food we've had since moving to Ohio from the West Coast. Seriously there is no excuse for for Mexican food to be this bad. I ordered the "stuffed enchiladas" with chicken and green sauce with refried beans and rice. The enchiladas were drowning in a green puréed sauce. That was not a good sign. The sauce was awful. Super salty and tangy. The chicken was diced bits of dark meat pollo asada, which I've never seen in enchiladas before. It tasted okay, but it was salty. The refried beans were grey and had no flavor and were really runny. Way too much water in them. The rice was bland and gummy, so gummy there were mushy clumps stuck together. This is what I imagine beans and rice would be like in prison! I barely ate any of my dinner. My poor husband ordered the "enchiladas con carne asada" which was described on the menu as "four cheese enchiladas topped with red non-spicy sauce or green non-spicy sauce topped with a grilled skirt steak". When his plate arrived at the table, it was just four enchiladas. So I said to the waitress, "where's the steak?". She said "it's inside the enchiladas ". I was all "But they're supposed to be cheese enchiladas TOPPED with a grilled skirt steak." She said "No, this is how we do things". The description was pretty clear on the menu. She did not offer to replace it with what he actually ordered or ask him if he wanted something else. And there was NO cheese in the enchiladas! No cheese! Just steak! (What he actually received was the "stuffed enchiladas" with steak and red enchilada sauce!) The red enchilada sauce tasted like salty tomato sauce with some chili powder in it. The steak was full of gristle. The bad food was one thing, but what really bothered us was how my hubby receiving the wrong thing was handled so poorly. Us being the polite people we are, did not want to make a big deal about it. And she clearly had no intention of making it right, so why beat a dead horse. We'll just make sure to never eat here again!

Usually you just get chips, a small bowl and a carafe of salsa, help yourself. This set the tone that this would be different than usual. I ordered steak fajita nachos and a Modelo Negra. I powered thru the chips and bean dip like it was my job. And it didn't disappoint. Really fresh and flavorful. Nachos are nachos, right? Wrong. How they are assembled has everything to do with their mouth feel as they cool down. I've had nachos that come out looking amazing but as they cool, turn into a disappointing chuck of chips held together by shredded cheese cement. These stayed loose with crunchy bites of peppers and onions, and the cheese sauce coated instead of becoming cement-like. I always order the same thing when trying a New Mexican spot. If the nachos are good, chances are everything is good! So I'll keep the almost 5 Star steak going. I agree, some of the best Mexican food in Columbus.

Ricardo, a waiter at Cazuela's Mexican Cantina in Reynoldsburg, had finished serving a table, expecting the usual--a tip, a simple acknowledgment of his hard work. Instead, he received a hateful message scrawled on the receipt, the kind that cuts deeper than words should. Ricardo works at Cazuela's only on Sundays, a second job to help make ends meet. So today, in between my OCIA responsibilities, I decided to stop by--to meet him, to shake his hand, and to remind him that there are far more good people in this world than the ones who spew hate. As we talked, I saw a man who carries himself with quiet dignity, someone who simply wants to work hard and provide for his family. I shared with him that I, too, know what it feels like to be told to "go back to your country," even though, like him, I am an American. I told him about my childhood, standing in front of my family's Crestview Market, hearing the ugly chants from passing cars--some driven by kids I went to school with. But today wasn't just about reliving painful memories; it was about something greater--the power of community, of kindness that drowns out cruelty. When I arrived at Cazuela's, I wasn't alone. Others had also come to show their support, to stand with Ricardo. He told me the outpouring of kindness had been overwhelming, and I was relieved to hear it. Before I left, I handed him my WARM card and told him if he ever needed help, he could call me. Because no one should feel alone in moments like these. And, by the way, if you ever stop by Cazuela's, their enchiladas and Mexican rice are fantastic. The chips and salsa? Fresh and addictive. And my server, Isabel--attentive, kind, and everything a great waitress should be. Some people choose to spread hate. But today, I saw so many more people choosing love. And thats what matters.
