This was our go-to restaurant every time someone in the office wanted tacos. But for the last couple of months the service has been horrible. The cashiers are rude and they always get one order wrong. We always gave them the benefit of the doubt and kept going back. Today was the last straw. I questioned the price that I was charged for a burrito (carne asada). I didn't add anything, I ordered it just as it is prepared. On the menu that is available online the price says $6.50, on the menu inside the restaurant it has $6.95, but when they charge you the real price is $7.50. I understand they have small print that says prices can increase but come on. You have a digital menu in your establishment. The least you can do is update it. My advise is check your receipt and be prepared to see a different amount because according to the cashier they can charge whatever they want. Needless to say, my co-workers and I will not be going back. Oh and they have a problem with flies because there are a lot of them as soon as you walk in. read more

Food quality has decreased over time, customer service has gone down the drain. They only care about profit and they leave the customer experience to the side. I placed an order over the phone, I get to the restaurant and pay for my order, the girl tells me she is going to see if it's ready, she somehow missed my order. I waited 15 minutes on an order that was ready, sitting on the shelf. Im so upset about this visit to this restaurant today. I had a taste for some tacos so I got a ride to the 71st location. I ordered one ground beef burrito( lettuce, tomato and cheese only) and one chopped steak platter double rice no beans and no sour cream or cheese ( I told the young lady I was allergic to milk produces) Upon getting home I realized my order was completely off. I received a steak burrito with just lettuce and tomatoes only. Then I received the steak platter with sour cream ( of which had mixed with everything in the container)! I then called to the store to let them no my order was incorrect. First then I was put on hold for 7mins and 24 seconds. Then after telling the young lady what happen. Been here a few times ,just because everyone else likes Zacatacos I get dragged here. This location is always packed, nothing new. I know they are known for their meat and it's great. Being vegan, my choices are limited obviously. I ordered a vegetarian burrito w/no cheese or sour cream. It was okay, nothing special. Service is okay.. you get different servers helping you so I just come to think of the tips? Are they shared? I love giving a good tip to my server. If you love tacos ,I suggest Pacos Tacos! This place gave me life on so many levels. Just pure amazing, from the fresh tortillas to the amazing flavored meat. Now this is not a fancy place by any means but if you're looking for real authentic flavors this is your place. I went with my husband and brother in law and we had all ordered tacos, I ordered 2 asada tacos and my husband and brother in law got a mixture of the asada tacos and lengua tacos with a side of guacamole. I can not stop raving about zacatacos and am so sad we're only here for vacation because if I lived anywhere close this would be a weekly stop for me, these are the best tacos I've ever had in the United States. This place is the real deal, only thing I'd say is lunch might be a little packed and there's not too many tables, but that does not take down my rating of this place at all. read more

Ok maybe 2 1/2 stars and here's why: Let's start with the fact that I had to wipe down my own table and chair! It wasn't filthy but the fact that there was food ( rice I think ) left on the table lets me know that the table wasn't properly cleaned after the last customer. The service I would was great and then not so great. The server came to take our order and made some very helpful suggestions. She was friendly and pleasant. But then , she disappeared. She Forgot our beverages and our tortillas! Not a big deal perhaps but still annoying. Once we brought it to her attention she brought them very quickly . The food was ehhh. I hadn't been here in a while but I can assure you the food was more delicious the last time I was there. We got a chicken taco salad -you know the one that comes in a taco shell. The chicken was good but the shell tasted old and stale. Perhaps the fact that the shells are left out in the open not covered doesn't help with maintaining them fresh. Came here on a Thursday night and it wasn't too crowded. We ordered nachos and tacos. 5 mins later, another group came in and were serviced much quicker than we were somehow they got their food first. Their nachos were ok and the meat tasted recooked. New resident to the area near this restaurant on 71st Kedzie. I stopped in and placed what I thought was a simple order. When I got home I discovered my order was incorrect. I called and spoke with the manager, Irene. She immediately apologized for the mistake and told me I had seven days to come in and she will correct my order. She said she would be at the restaurant until closing that day if I came back in, which I agreed I would. I did exactly that, went back around 7:30pm and asked for her. I saw the employee walk up and speak to her. She told the employee to tell me she was too busy and referred me to the cashier who was confused and not helpful. I don't blame her, I blame Irene's lack of professionalism. I WILL NOT return to this restaurant again due to the poor standard of customer service I received. Tacos are good but very poor customer service. I've ordered from there twice. First order, they messed it up--no big deal. The second order is where my experience took a turn for the worst. The person taking orders hung up on me because she didn't want to address my concern that the restaurant made a mistake with my first order and to be more mindful with this second order. Then when I called right back, she picked up and put me on hold for a long time. When she finally picked up the phone, i asked why she wouldnjust hang up, she tried to act as if it wasn't her who hung up and then said the manager would give me two pops. I've been coming to this Zacatacos for so many years now and their customer service has just gone completely down hill. Some of their cashiers have an attitude and are rude. I've called at least three times and have been hung up on. Some of their staff is not properly trained. I asked them to customize an order and one of the cashiers said she had to ask her manager to see if it could be done, when I clearly stated that it was my usual order and have had it done many times. 71st pulaski zacatacos First off I've been sitting at the countertop waiting to order just to be overlook by the waitress as she took someone else's order as they walked thru the door..Second I witness the guys who cooks the shells drop the spactula on the floor just to pick it up and put it back on the grill without washing it or changing his gloves. Next the guy who prepares the food was so sloppy with every ingredients flying into different food and now I had to witness a employee wiping her nose with her bare hand and then touching the utensil to make her own food with her coat on.. Best place for Tacos in West Lawn Chicago for sure. Never had anything bad here. Delivery and dining in are always good. The salsas and chips are good. Waitresses are attentive and polite. The parking lot is tiny and thats probably the only real drawback, but most people are in and out. The other west lawn authentic taco places are hit or miss, so thats why this one is packed. Zaca Tacos has great food, but my last experience when I brought my fiance for the first time was terrible so I don't go to this one anymore. Long story short, I ordered carry out, it took WAY longer than usual (I've been here during rush times on a friday and have been in and out in 10-15 minutes) and not only did they mess up my order and forget stuff, they charged me to fix it. The parking is already terrible, the service is meh, but after that I just refuse to go to this Zaca Tacos anymore. Go to the one further north by 59th and Pulaski instead, they're much better.
