On another new taqueria expedition, we discovered this place from a little internet research and friends' random recommendations. The place was pretty busy on this Saturday night, but we still got a table in less that 5 minutes. On 9/16/2022 at 8:50PM my husband Diego called to place an order on the phone. The lady that took our order never once mentioned that this location closed at 9PM. We assumed it closed at 10PM because that's what google has down for your place of business. She said the order would be ready in 15- 20 minutes. I arrived at your location drive thru window at 9:03P. The guy at the window very rudely mouthed closed. I tried to speak as loudly as I could that I was picking up an order and he just shook his head and ignored me. My husband called the location, in which said guy did answer and my husband explained the situation. He said it was our fault for not asking and verifying what time it closed, and then he proceeded to say that our order was there and made, but my husband let him know we were not going to go pick it up because we had already made the drive there once, and he hung up on him. It was a $80+ order, which is a loss for me because we didn't get our dinner, and it's an even larger loss for your place of business. If this man, who refused to give his name, is one of your managers running your restaurant he is doing it very poorly and causing you to lose money. This isn't the first time this restaurant has given us very poor customer service, but it is the last because we will no longer be giving our money to this establishment. As someone that runs a business for a large corporation, I would retrain or perhaps replace your entire staff in this location. read more

I dined in, and I also placed an order to go so it'll be ready by the time I leave. They never placed my order and the waitress looked at me like if it was my fault. Everyone seemed like they were in a rush. The restaurant was literally empty. When it was time to pay the girls on the register seem annoyed. I'll give the restaurant 4 out of 5 stars. Zacatacos is always packed with Hispanic folks, police officers and city personnel for a reason--the food is terrific. Now it is not the most delightful setting or ambiance, but the food is so delicious and authentic--it is worth it. It is your typical "eat and walk" sorta place. It always is crowded but somehow balances out where you can sit down in 2-10 minutes and order, and be served quickly. Their pork is amazing and you see it on a spit topped with pineapple when you enter--fantastic. I'm hungry just thinking about it. My favorite is the tacos el pastor, with lettuce/tomato/cheese, add avocado. My guy likes tacos more standard, with meat, onion and cilantro. Either way, they are fantastic and delicious. For $20 two people can have a complete feast here, so it is one of our favorite lunchtime places. read more

I'm a big fan of Zacatacos. Been dining at their restaurants forever. I'm reviewing this location because despite the small dining space, they make it work. I waited about 8 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, service was fast, waitresses were friendly, food was spot on. I had a steak torta with all trimmings (nice soft torta bun, steak meat cooked to perfection, beans, sour cream, shredded lettuce and thin slices of avocado). My son had two steak tacos with cilantro. The red salsa is delicious, spicy and tasty enough to give your food that extra kick! This place serves authentic inexpensive Mexican food. I highly recommend stopping in at least once, you won't be disappointed! read more

I have tried countless taqurias in Chicago over the years and this is one of the better ones. I have been coming for six years now and it's always busy. One of the things I appreciate most about their tacos is that they grill their meat and you won't find chunks of fat in their steak like many other taquerias. The food, prices, and atmosphere are good. They do have their off days, but nobody's perfect. Try the taco dinner, flauta dinner, or the enchiladas, it's worth a try. read more

Their food was pretty good, but the take out staff at the registers were a little grumpy, and the waiting area for your take out or for a table is non-existent. Fine. It was cheap, decent mexican food when i was in a rush. Then. about 18 months ago, I brought some friends here from out of town when they visited. They wanted a local experience. Food was tasty, but we all got nasty food poisoning and sat on the toilet all night long as a result. Sadly, this was it, and I will never go back to this establishment. Our server didn't bring us salsa with our chips, took much too long to bring our food and to top it off she decided to take her break at the beginning of our meal and didn't come back until we were paying our bill! The steak tacos & burritos so far are pretty good at this establishment but who ever is in charge needs to teach their employees how to deal with customers and provide better customer service...First off what I saw around 6:15 pm on 12/23 was not only unprofessional but it put customers safety at risk. There was a male customer who was complaining about his wait time for his food and he started to get loud. With that the cashier (female) should of simply told him "Sir if you dont lower your voice I will have to ask you to leave or I will be forced to call the police" Instead she proceeded to argue back and forth with him and supposly she stated he was intoxicated. So if you know one of your customers is intoxicated why are you arguing and continuing to argue with a "drunk" individual". That makes no sense to me. Usually You can't get thru to someone who is drunk.. To make a long story short all the cooks came from behind the kitchen and started getting in this customer's face and one of the cooks punch him in the face.. a fight broke out with all the cooks either hitting or kicking this guy or trying to break it up.. The customer's friend was trying to break it up and one of the waitresses hit the friend in the head with the napkin dispenser.. then one of the cooks punched the customer again...they leave and then the cashier that was arguing with the customer decides to go to entrance to see if she could get his license plates... WHY????...the cops was already called by now let them do there job...and of course the customer came back in ready to argue some more....I'm not saying I condomn how the customer acted because he was loud but the situation should have been handled differently right from the beginning. The arguing back and forth with a customer was unprofessional...The cops should have been called when the customer continued to yell since she supposly knew he was intoxicated. She lost her cool and it showed when she threw his money back at him. Now what if the customer would of came back with a gun or what if he would of had a gun with him.. the place was packed and there was kids there....someone could of gotten seriously hurt....I hope the person in charge reads this and takes this into considerate..this situation could have been avoided..dont know if I I'll be coming back to this location read more

It is very disappointing how the old days are gone! the hygiene is compromised when cooks do not use gloves and when they constantly touche their face and nose. The guy putting the meat on grill is also typing on his phone and sneezing. I saw a rodent going out of the bathroom. Service is becoming terrible! Servers loose orders, cashier is in bad mood, assistant guys seem disengaged, and the whole experience is in disappointing path. Completely messed up my order! I said no sour cream on my burrito, no lettuce, no beans! And what did they do? They put everything on there which I didnt tell them to put on in the first place. Disgusting! If you want food with my saliva, go for it. Went in ordering food to go. No problem until I sit down. A waitress, being awesomely nice, brings chips and salsa. I start to eat them along with my friend. Then, the manager comes over 10 minutes later. He yanks the chips away and says the chips are only for those that dine in.
