Atmosphere- Cute, very quiet. I immediately worried it might not have good food because no one was in there. Food- I had a shrimp roll (yum), the chicken and corn soup (not what I was expecting, but very yummy) and several rolls. The sushi, as other reviewers have noted, is on par with much more expensive restaurants, so perhaps the lack of customers is a good thing :). Price- For a sushi restaurant, it was cheaper than most. My co workers and I eat here all the time. The food is awesome, and if you look in the clipper magazine, they always have coupons for this sushi place. The food is really good and each time I walk in I am always greeted by the sushi chef. It has a nice atmosphere and the wait staff is pleasant and attentive. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem; the Chinese food is good, but the sushi is amazing !!! The sushi chef creates rolls like the Exton roll (white tuna and banana) and the Fantastic Dream roll (black pepper encrusted tuna) that definitely rival & surpass any sushi I've had not only in Philadelphia but in NYC. And the price is more than reasonable. My fiancé and I use this place to celebrate birthdays,etc and I even had them cater a party I was hosting--really good and I got rave reviews from my guests! I used to order all the time from Z Wei through Cuisinetogo, but a few months back the quality of their food went away downhill. Its like their chef quit and one of the managers decided to do the cooking. One item myself and my wife really enjoyed was their spicy Szechuan dumplings. They were really good, but the last couple of times we ordered for home delivery, these dumplings were a disgusting soggy water-logged mess. Another item I really enjoyed was their Lamb Amazing. This used to be really tasty with a distinctive spicy flavour. Now its just bland glop. Maybe their in-restaurant food is better, but if it is the same as their food for delivery, this place is heading towards going out of business, unless they hire a proper chef. read more

Friendly staff are the only reason why this is not a 1-star. Sushi portions are small compared to similar restaurants. This could be more clearly advertised. Food (Pad Thai specifically) was very bland, when it didn't taste like lemon dish soap thanks to the piping hot lemon wedge thrown into the takeout container. Will not be returning. I eat here a lot. I swear their dine in food tastes better than the takeout! It is not the authentic food you'd get in Chinatown in Philly for instance, but it is still decent. I order house fried rice because it is cheap, and my favorites: Hunan beef, Mongolian beef, Crab Rangoon, Spicy tuna roll, Eel roll and the special Mango roll they have on occasion. Their sushi is out of this world! Their special rolls are deadly good. That being said I think the roll sizes could be bigger for the price they charge. But like I said, their rolls are delish which makes up for the price. They do have the authentic menu, which offers food not found in the regular menu. I ordered things not on the menu a few times and they definitely accommodated that. Bottom line: dine in, ask for the authentic menu, and for sure - try their sushi! read more

I have to say, I am extremely disappointed in the service. I've only had the food twice (once by take-out) and it's delicious, but our waitress was just plain horrible. I am not usually one to write a bad review but the amount of effort put in towards giving us great service was minimal to none. Our waitress was impatient, didn't speak loud enough to really even hear her, hardly interacted with us and seemed annoyed when we had a question. Furthermore, I still tipped her 25%, and got home to find my leftover sushi literally thrown ontop of eachother in the box. If the food wasn't good, I wouldn't go there ever again. The place was nearly empty at peak dinner hour and one of the servers was standing, sleeping, with head rested on the dividing wall in the middle of the dining room. I am here traveling from out of town. This is a great basic Asian place...not fancy, but just all the good favorite Asian dishes you crave. They have some sushi, although I didn't try that. I had the General Tsao's chicken and some dumplings. Some heat, but just right for my tastes. I see some reviewers gave them poor marks for service. I've eaten sushi/sashimi all around the country, and here it's not all that bad considering it's not a high end restaurant. My friend and I both got a roll each. The Itamae deserves props. The bbq ribs are excellent. My friend had the chicken fried rice and said it was good. Good size pieces of chicken with it. I got the chicken with snow peas. This is the only complaint I had, it had a white/clear sauce and had absolutely no flavor to it. The chicken wasn't bad, nice and tender and pretty good size pieces. But again to me there were no seasonings at all. Even after putting salt ( which I very rarely do) and lots of black pepper on it, I still couldn't finish it. I would definitely come back , but not ordering anything with the white sauce on it. read more

The Asian cuisine is sub par at best. Everything seems to be very bland and unexciting, which in my humble opinion is not normal for an Asian restaurant. When I told her that I did not like white sauce, she offered to prepare it with brown sauce. My husband and I decided to try this place based on other Yelp reviews as we were passing through Exton early this evening. We found it mediocre at best. We are pretty much Asian fanatics, so may be a bit pickier than some other reviewers. Based on what we read here, we tried the hot and sour soup, always a good test of any new Chinese place for us. It was just ok. Didn't have much stuff in it and it was hot, but not really sour. Would have benefited from a bit of vinegar, some fresh mushrooms and scallions, lots more bean curd. Then tried the chicken lettuce wrap appetizer (6.95). The chicken was salty, flavored only with soy sauce as far as I could tell, on a bed of what I can only describe as thin styrofoam rice noodles--totally devoid of taste with no reason to be in the dish other than to take up space. The lettuce was damp and there was no dipping sauce of any kind. Very disappointing. P.F. Chang's, a chain for heaven's sake, has wonderful chicken lettuce wraps. Do not order them here. We ordered sushi for the rest of our dinner--several rolls and some nigiri. Prices were ok and the nigiri was fine (priced by the single piece, by the way, at around $2.50), but the rolls were, in our experience, substandard. We ordered simple ones like spicy tuna, spider roll, and asparagus tempura. Mostly tasted ok but they were rolled loosely and kind of fell apart. There is a little neighborhood Chinese place near us in Drexel Hill that just started offering sushi, and it is fabulous--beautifully prepared and presented, and a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Next time, we'll stick closer to home for better sushi! I will say that Z Wei's marinated ginger that came with the sushi was great--really strong and gingery but hey, that comes out of a jar, right? Generally, we were not impressed and do not plan to return. Our waitress was not at all friendly though she was adequate and perhaps the a/c wasn't working because it was warm in the restaurant and they had a single small household fan sitting in the middle of the rather large room, which didn't really help. read more

The restaurant was clean and the service competent and pleasant. Sushi menu did not list cooked versus raw items which it should but it was not hard to decipher. Not sure why some gave this 4 or 5 stars. Outside of some first rate Asian restaurants in New York or San Francisco I don't think this place rates more than a 2 or 3 star rating. read more

The rolls are not the trendy fusion rolls that so many places are designing. Rather, they are classic, fresh, and we'll executed. This was our first time here and we found it to be pretty good. We started with the shrimp shumai which wasn't good so we were nervous for our entrees. The sushi is pretty darn yummy. It's a BYOB so don't forget to bring along some beverages. The rolls are a little small, but reasonable priced so you can just order more. The dynamite, black dragon and dancing roll are definitely my favorites. They must be used to indecisive customers because although it wasn't busy, we waited a fairly long time before anyone came to take our order and bring us napkins and chopsticks, but the food arrived pretty promptly once they finally asked what we wanted. We love coming here! The food is great and reasonably priced. We also really like the sushi. The staff are very sweet and attentive. Another plus is that it's a BYO! This is a great restaurant. I have to simply put it as that. I'm a vegan, and I love this restaurant. Not just that it has many options for. People with food restrictions and people that dont, it also has great food. Personally my favorite, and some of the best fried rice I've ever had is here. This is a solid pan-Asian pick for the highly commercial and chain-oriented Exton area. I will hopefully make this MY new sushi place for the area. I went in for the first time on Sunday afternoon and ordered a couple of the rolls to test it out. The sushi chef passed me a made up "amuse". He grabbed a potato chip, put salmon, avocado, and spicy tuna sauce on it and handed it to me. I gave it a chuckle at first mostly since I had never been given a free bite like that, but I was amazed at how good it was. The small effort he put into that free bite made me go back again. Pretty sure I'm going to try to learn a thing or two from the guys who roll there. I'm definitely pulling that potato chip sushi out at my next party. read more
