Went in on a Saturday for a smog check, I haven't had to smog my vehicles up until this year. I saw a $10 off certificate and went in to get my vehicle smogged. It passed smog. I was charged $65 with the $10 discount. I thought it was steep but, I had no knowledge of the prices for smog checks. I call around today and get quotes on a smog for another vehicle, I got a deal for $45 with certification. I was a bit taken back and decided to call the guy at Z Smog in Upland to clarify the pricing. I ask him for a quote on my vehicle that currently needs a smog and he says $45 out the door. Hmmm..okay how about for so and so vehicle (the car he had previously smogged) he says $45 out the door. I ask him, why did you charge me $65 with the $10 coupon. His excuse, is that today he's slow. The day I went in his shop was dead, silent and slow with only one customer, ME. He's a crook. Stay away from this shop. read more

I took my car in for a smog check. The car failed the test. I had a check engine light on when I took it in. I wish the owner would have told me it might not pass because of this. It took him a couple of minutes plug in and read the code. He didn't have my best interests in mind or he would have let me know up front it wasn't going to pass. The dude still charged me! The worst was he gave me a couple of dozen reasons the check engine light was on. He didn't have a clue. He gets a two-star instead of a one-star because he was just so darn friendly. read more

Last time I was here, he stated he could not smog my car because the Catalytic Converter was not original. He showed me the photo. Look at the other 1 star rating his behavior is the same...GO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I have never had a reason to write a review because I can raise my concern to someone who can take care of it, but the person that did all the wrong things is the owner. Because who wants to deal with someone that agrees on a price, then threatens you to get extra money from you, by saying "seriously I want the extra money" or as he implied or else. He will give you all sort of justification of why he is threatening you and why he feels he wants the extra money from you. He can justify any reason to do whatever he wants, or like with me threatens me, because as he said he needed a tip and that is why he justified his threat. He also knows that police won't do anything, I called them, because he knows this is a civil issue, so he knows exactly what he is doing. You don't know what type of person you are walking up and dealing with and what he is going to do. Their are other reputable companies that can do the work without this drama. A person that does not keep his word and then threatens you...and his reasoning wants a tip. Are you kidding me a tip for what to threaten me..then what is that person. read more

My 2002 car had the catalytic converter reset while being serviced before I came to have it smog checked. It failed due to that, Gabriel at Z-Smog told me to drive more. So I tried it a couple days later, still failed the free retest. So my wife & I took a Sunday drive 200 miles over the weekend. He retested again for free and it passed. I haven't been here since Gabriel took over, but this place is still great. The truck with the sign out front is now gone, and Gabriel has make improvements to the waiting room. The chairs are nicer and and there is now a big screen t.v. When i dropped by, there was no wait, and he test itself took only 10 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise.
