1/5 Stars - Avoid Ethan Allen at All Costs: $4000 for a Broken Dresser?…read more I'm writing this review as a warning to others: beware of Ethan Allen's poor quality products and appalling customer service. We spent $4000 on a bedroom set, only to receive a dresser that was severely damaged. The issues include: - Large gouges and scratches on the surface - A busted drawer that doesn't function properly - Peeling wood finish When we complained and sent the dresser back, we expected a hassle-free replacement or refund. Instead, they've repeatedly sent the same broken dresser, ignoring our concerns and gaslighting us into thinking there's nothing wrong with it. It's been incredibly frustrating to deal with this situation, especially given the high cost of the furniture. I'm still left without a complete bedroom set and feel ripped off. Unless you enjoy dealing with broken products and unhelpful customer service, I would strongly advise against shopping at Ethan Allen.

Marsha Lucas, their interior designer at the time, did all my living space, which I am really happy with. She really worked well with me accommodating my preferences. Their customer service is top-notch. One of my counter stools had a small tear in the leather when they delivered, and they promptly took care of it while being fully communicative along the process. The reason for only rating at a 3 however is because their furniture is not of the highest quality any longer. The quality was top-notch many years ago, and you could justify the very hefty price-tag. Not anymore. These days most of their furniture is made in China, and I see MDF used in good measure, instead of real wood (the quality is reminiscent of Pottery Barn furniture now). EA however chose to retain the very hefty price tags for such poor quality furniture. Good luck to them keeping up with competition, with their current business model. Luxury furniture brands have furniture that is far more reasonably priced (for the quality) than Ethan Allen. I won't be buying from Ethan Allen anymore.

Unfortunately, this was not the case. We received terrible customer service and only made it to the initial consultation phase before things fell apart. Suzie stated she would provide a detailed (1 to 1.5 hours) consultation for $250. During the consultation, she was only at our home for 20 minutes. At the end, she promised to get in touch with her contractor and prepare a design board. She sent over a proposal with no design board. When I asked about the design board, she stated she would only provide a mood board and we must have a signed contract before she would provide the design board (despite what she had told us during the consultation). When I expressed dissatisfaction with our interactions, she refused to fully refund the consultation fee. So, I essentially paid TLB for nothing. Very disappointed and will be using a different designer who has been much more transparent.

We had never worked with a designer before, but Suzie helped us find our own décor taste. She has remarkable vision and a real talent for design. Suzie not only gave us the room we so desired, but she made the process interactive and fun! I felt very connected to all aspects of the project. Suzie oversaw the installation of brand new hardwood floors and carefully chose a wood stain that looks stunning in the Bonus Room (and our entire house!). She designed our custom built bookshelves and window seat, and worked with the cabinet maker to ensure perfection. She designed the window seat cushion, and referred us to a fantastic seamstress who beautifully executed the project. From the media center to seating to throw pillows to wall art, Suzie helped us pull it all together. We are absolutely thrilled with our Bonus Room, and it has become a family favorite that we all use now. I highly recommend Suzie. I have so enjoyed working with Suzie and appreciated her work that I've also enlisted her design help in my entry way, and for other pieces in 3 other rooms in my home! And I will definitely be working with her on future projects!

Disappointing experience…read more Not a good experience Purchased an expensive wool and viscose area rug that was recommended by one of their designers. They neglected to inform me the material the rug is made of cannot be professionally cleaned. If it is cleaned it will never look as good as it did when it was new, and the overall quality will deteriorate much faster compared to a wool or synthetic rug. Evidently the viscose shrinks and the rug can shrivel. I found this out today when I scheduled professional carpet cleaners to come out to clean it. They refused to clean the rug. I have pets and the designer knew this. If I had known this I would have NEVER purchased the rug. I have also experienced issues with communication. I purchased a painting that ended up not working for me and asked if they had recommendations on where I could resell it. I never got a reply.

They work with a lot wholesale-only furniture brands that only sell through decorators/retail, and anything custom will take a few months(!!!) especially because of COVID. Shannon does know which options are easier/faster to get, but if you really fall in love with a certain piece, be prepared to wait. But honestly, I've read online reviews of people ordering West Elm for a chair, and it taking MONTHS with NO actual updates. In my case, I emailed Shannon, she calls the factory, and I got shipping updates by the next business day.

Great experience, fun to see the owner's personal collections, favorites, framed art and her personal works she has painted or drawn.
