What could go wrong with getting your home's air ducts removed?...not a lot I thought...boy was I wrong! Z-Con had the job of removing my air ducts out of my attic, I know there's minor things they might run into like trying to get into the tight corners of the attic a little ceiling drywall damage here and there, but nothing like what I encountered when I got home. While removing the ducts, the crew knocked out a recess light and cracked through my kitchen (see picture). All the old dirty insulation into my kitchen, onto the countertops, onto my fridge, cabinets, etc. just a complete mess. How they missed a big can of recessed light up there I have no idea, but I had a big hole in my kitchen. I get a phone call to hurry home and check to see what had happened. The crew was apologetic and left in quite a bit of hurry and said the office would call me to get somebody out ASAP to fix this and it would be taken care of. Friday: 2:45pm: I get a phone call from Colleen letting me know that she is working on getting somebody out here to fix this. 3:30pm: I call and ask what the update is, no answer? 3:45pm: I call again, no answer, and I leave a voicemail. 3:55pm: No answer. 4pm: Their office is closed. Saturday Morning (still a hole in my kitchen): I call and of course no answer. I see that their office is closed on Saturday-Sunday from their website. That is fine, but there's plenty of people that work on weekends. You have a customer who has a hole in his kitchen, you would think you can take 15mins out of your day to setup a repair to get this issue resolved. At that point I send them an e-mail stating my disbelief. I let them know they have 24 hours to respond, if not I will have to find somebody on my own and get the ceiling repaired and an electrician to get the lighting put back in. Sunday: (No call back from Z-Con) Monday: The office is now open (No call back from Z-Con) Tuesday: No call, but I finally get an e-mail (see picture), at this point I just shook my head. I can go into even more details of what transpired the next few days, but long story short they did want to pay for the damage they had caused, I even got it done for half the cost of what they would have had to pay for a drywall contractor and an electrician to come out and fix it. Not to mention the cleanup fee for all the debris left all over my kitchen we had to do ourselves. Colleen asks me if the electrical repair work was done by a certified electrician? (great way to get out of paying the repair fee) Are you F*^%ing kidding me, the nerve of this woman to now ask me how the repair was done after 4 days of not giving 2 $hits about the hole in my kitchen. Her crew left a live electrical recessed light in the attic around blown in insulation, my whole attic and house could have caught fire if the light switch got flipped on!!! The work was completed by Z-Con and my ducts were officially removed, but the damage and unprofessionalism of this company to this day baffles me. Last week I had Z-Con come and remove the acousitc ceilings in my condo. I am so pleased with the service their crew provided. The crew was in and out in one day. Avoid this company if you are a woman. Pablo from Z con came to my house and would not listen to me when i told him i need to call my contractor to remove a sink and he can continue to work. He wanted to leave and when i asked him to stay and finish the job, he said that he is leaving. His boss told him to leave and he does not give a sh*t what i say. He then called his boss and lied to him about the job. Said i asked for a lot of extra work, in fact i told them to do less because i miss counted the number of vents. I needed asbestos removed from the ceilings in my 1600 sq ft townhome. The company that did the testing gave me a list of four companies with whom they'd had good experiences. I received bids from all four and the range was ridiculous!! Z-Con was not only the least expensive, their estimate was about a THIRD of the amount of the most expensive. And while some of the more expensive companies gave me a song and dance about all of the extra services they'd provide, in the end the services provided were identical. Colleen -- who was my main point of contact -- was friendly, incredibly responsive, flexible, and extremely fair-minded. I used their company to remove drywall and attic insulation for the whole house. I was very impressed with the quality, professionalism, and speed. They always picked up the phone on the first ring and were able to schedule my job right away. By 9am on the first day, they had a very large crew in full swing, with containment setup, and a dumpster's worth of material already ripped out of the house. At first, I thought I could save some drywall, and asked them to do a little less than what we had written up. I hired Z-Conn to remove old heating ducts for a furnace reinstall Z-Conn - underbid everyone else, by close to twice as little in some cases - came to the site to assess (unlike some of the high bids) - were spot on with the work that needed to be done (unlike bids that missed removing the plenum) On the work day, they were careful and detail oriented, clean and thorough. Containment set-up was tight and meticulous. Removal of boots was challenging, but they did it with no damage to the ceiling sheetrock or framing. What to have high morals means! I have an old house and had to remove asbestos in order to replace the furnace. Z-Con gave me a decent estimate and I hired them. I was very surprised when the invoice was for a much smaller amount that the estimate. That never happened in my life experience. Out of 6 companies we called for the quote, Jose from Zcon was the only person did a thorough inspection to determine exactly where the asbestos was used in our heating system. Prior to the schedule for service, I needed to change the work scope several times, Colleen was patient and always updated the new quote the next day. She asked me to call closer to the date to book an appointment. I still sent her an email to book an appointment between August 27- 31.
