The service was amazing from the moment we walked in the door. The decor is festive and the ambiance is just what you'd expect. Our waitress was very attentive and gave us excellent guidance since we aren't familiar with Peruvian food. She went over the lunch specials a few times to help us make our decisions. I ordered the fish ceviche. It was unbelievably delicious! I've had ceviche before but this was absolutely the best! The zing of lime juice woke my taste buds up and the combination of all the ingredients made for the best flavor. Hubby ordered the tallarines saltados with chicken. It tasted like a Peruvian version of chicken teriyaki. It was very good. I would certainly order it for myself in the future. We ordered the chicha morada, a sweet purple corn drink that was really good. My husband has had Peruvian food with a friend who is from Peru (& always ordered everyone) and this drink was always staple. It's worth trying! I will probably order it every time we eat there. It was hard not to drink it all at once because it's so tasty! The waitress brought us a complimentary small bowl of muss de lucuma. It had nice warm flavors with a texture between flan and custard. We enjoyed trying the many flavors that Yummy Peru offers. Robert the chef/owner came over and introduced himself, checking in on us and talking to us for a bit. Okay... Peru is officially in Dothan, Alabama! If you've never experienced authentic Peruvian food, Yummy Peru is the place to start. The food is absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and you can taste the care that goes into every plate. The owner is also the cook, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, with Peruvian music playing in the background. It really adds to the whole experience. Peru is known around the world for its incredible cuisine, and now I can get authentic Peruvian food right here in Dothan! And to top it all off, I had a Pisco Sour that was absolutely delicious! Thank you Robert & Sonia who are amazing owners. They were incredibly hospitable when we arrived. The inside is so warm and cozy we loved it. All I can say is, that you need to run & Not walk if you haven't tried this hidden gem. Everything we ATE WAS AMAZING! Full of exotic flavors and spices. Even the way they cooked and plated everything was just Perfection They also mentioned that they are going to start serving Peruvian margaritas , which we didn't get to try but perhaps another time. Absolutely best Peruvian food I've had in a very long time. It was set in a rustic building and I loved the Ambiance as well. It's added to the charm of this wonderful restaurant. The lomo salteado had tender, delicious piece of steak with a Peruvian sauce that elevated the rice which I requested underneath. It usually comes with french fries and rice but I just wanted rice this time around. When it's with French fries, this delicious gravy just soaked right through the french fry and adds to the flavor of the fry itself. But it was amazing on the rice just as much. My husband had the Pasta Alfredo and requested that small pieces of chicken be added. It was the best pasta dish she has ever had because of course it was made with actual cream and it was outstanding. I love the fried corn, cancha, as an appetizer serve the spicy sauce. I had a wonderful mousse dessert as well that was one of the best I've had, Muss de Lucuma which was Heaven in a cup. It was so creamy and luscious, with notes of cinnamon and, like everything else I ate at this delicious establishment, made with love. I love Peruvian food as it is but this was outstanding. Dothan denizens, do not miss out eating at this absolutely excellent restaurant. Ask for Megan because she was our server and she was so friendly and knowledgeable about all the foods that it was a pleasure having her as our server. The online photos made it look like this place is in a run down warehouse, but it isn't. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a shabby chic newly restored outlet area I didn't realize was in Dothan very cute and unique. The ambience, the service, the food is all amazing! I loved all the flowers and live plants for the decor. I got the Purple Corn Juice the Peru National Beverage and it was delicately sweet and floral absolutely refreshing. The fried corn kernels brought to the table with the sauce before the meal was so unique I couldn't stop munching on it. I got a large skirt steak and a big portion of homemade pesto pasta with a half of potato covered in a cream sauce for $24.00 and that is incredible!!! The steak was tender and delicious. The best pasta I have had in the Wiregrass. The cream sauce in the potato was so good. I even dipped my meat in the leftover sauce served with the corn kernels and it was something I would consider crave-able. I loved how the chef/owner came out to the table to make sure everything was delicious. I will definitely be back. read more

Great food, fresh with lots of flavor, and great service at Yummy Peru! The atmosphere was clean and inviting. The knowledgeable chef came out to greet us and explain the menu since we had never had Peruvian cuisine. He even gave us samples and explained some of the preparation. He made a great vegetarian dish for me! My husband got a meat combo and it was very tender with lots of flavor. The spiciness was just right. I liked the decor and that they sell a few Peruvian groceries. All the employees we met were very nice. Try the fried plantains and green sauce! We wholeheartedly recommend this place. read more
