Food: never got it…read more Service: Came in around 7:45 only 1 person was in there ahead of us and he already order and was just waiting on his food. The sign on the door said they closed at 8pm. When I tried placing my order the cashier said that he don't know if the cook still want to make anything and mind you the doors doesn't close until 8pm. I feel that was very unprofessional and I can understand if they ran out of certain items but that wasn't the case. So basically getting served is based off if the cook felt like taking one more order before 8pm. This was very unprofessional and not cutesy and not demure. I will not be driving 40 mins again to this establishment. Ambiance: didn't have a chance to look around before getting turned away

Boy had we been ordering wrong!!…read more We have been to this little spot on multiple occasions for their Cajun boils and while they are good, they pale in comparison to their "Mexican seafood" plates. The service is always very attentive without being over bearing. The waitresses are nice and informative. The ambiance on Fridays is lively with music blaring. But it's ok because if you feel it's too loud, they will accommodate and lower it. My favorite dish so far here is their agua chile negro!!! Be warned if you can't handle spice! Love the smokiness and heat this shrimp dish brings. As spicy as it is, it keeps you coming back for more. The tostadas it comes with appear to be house fried tortillas and not generic flimsy ones. They really hold up to the juiciness of this dish. We have also tried the pescado sarandeado which is seasoned with their special blend. Fried just right, never dry and crispy in all the right spots. We cleared it to the bones. My only regret was that it didn't come with tortillas . Haven't been disappointed yet

My cousin had the fried catfish and it was golden nowhere near burnt. She tore it up with that came some hush puppies and they were good. She said she could just have a box of those and be satisfied. They were good too oh and she loves their coleslaw. I haven't tried it, but she loves it so if you're coleslaw person I would say try it. I do need to try it myself. I'm trying to make sure I'm not missing anything because I went three times this week. I can't speak to the other dishes because each time I went I had to seafood boil bag shrimp sausage I add a boiled egg and I add a half pound of scallops. Potatoes aren't overcooked in the boil bags either. Oh and the music they do play a variety of music but it's all good. They do play the jams in there.

(I wasn't a fan of the rap music only because it did not compliment the decor and food.) 4 stars because the food is seasoned and reasonably priced: I ordered the pork chops, as a measure, to see if my next trip would be worth the drive. When they said it was going to take a little longer because of the thickness, I had a bit of regret ordering it. I was extremely suprised that the pork chops were well done to the bone! Take a look at the picture, chops are not dried out! The yams, were a nice treat. Sweet enough for a dessert. I should have ordered extra cornbread. Delicious! The mac and cheese: not overly mushy. The cook did not hold back on the cheese. I am so happy with the homecook taste. I will be back to try the chicken and waffles.

Fair pricing in general but tor the amount of food we got, great pricing! We ended up leaving with 6 styrofoam boxes however and it's definitely a lot of waste in that department. It could have easily been combined into 3-4 at most. The catfish and okra were great, as was the spaghetti which had a bit of a kick to it. The grilled cheese my daughter got was a bit burnt and the cabbage was over cooked but overall great good for a great price. I would try other menu items there in the future.

The dining room has nice wooden tables with matching chairs, and plays music at a respectable level (classic hits). It gives millennial burger restaurant without all the pretentiousness. I had the Thursday special, fish and chips. I'm a sucker for cod, but I think it was well battered and not over-fried. Wish there had been a little malt vinegar to go with it, but I enjoyed the lemon on it. The fries (or chips for those across the pond) were well seasoned with salt, pepper, and something else that I couldn't identify but it tasted very nice. Also ordered a signature cocktail, Texas Storm. It had ginger beer, dark rum, and blackberry syrup. Quite a heavy pour from the bartender which is much appreciated. Definitely coming back.

It was clear that whoever was in the kitchen absolutely knew what they were doing & they cooked with some extra helpings of love in there! My sisters had the fried catfish & I tried theirs & was completely blown away! It was truly one of the BEST fried catfish I have had since I've been in Texas...& that's saying a lot because I've tried a LOT of different places & my hips prove it every time I look in the mirror...lol!
