Stopped in with friends for dinner and this olace was packed, understandably. We put our name on the waitlist and it only took about 20 minutes to be sat. The server explained the menu and the option of creating your own for 15.99 which is a great deal. The bowls are on the table and then you walk through the line and choose what ingredients you want for your hibachi. They had a wide variety of veggies, noodles and meats. I should have added more sauce to get mixed into mine, lesson learned. You can purchase a second bowl for $4 but it is dine in only. I couldnt even finish my first bowl. Overall tasty and I would come back.

my first impression was looks fun. Check in was confusing. They had a tablet to sign in but it was not in English. So I tried to fill out. Finally someone asked us if we needed to sit. And thn took us to a table. We get to the table and the staff that helped was not the best at explaining what the process was. We did decide to get the make your own bowl. You go up and fill your bowl with items. You pick sauce. And they cook and bring to you. They did not explain the sauce and need of them well. They did have someone telling you the flavors. That was nice. The food was great. The staff kept up with refills and we decided to get gyoza. That had a good taste also. Now knowing what to do. We will go back. The meat , seafood, vegetables were all very fresh. The place was busy. A nice staff good food. And a neat experience

We went both during their soft opening and shortly after. This is the first place I found that had whitefish, salmon and lamb as an option for the make it yourself stir fry. Plus they have a nice selection of nigiri, sashimi and maki. The hamachi and sake nigiri I had were excellent. I chose fish and scallops to add to my stir fry last time and my husband found almost as many scallops in his bowl as was in mine. The cooks will need to learn to be more careful preparing the food on the griddle. Service was very good each time. The place had some serious remodeling done to change it from an Applebees to a clean and open feeling space with modest decorations. Overall I really like this place and plan to return again.

    Delicious!

Oh my goodness! What a great addition to McHenry! Went tonight and loved my meal. You go through the line selecting all the vegetables, meat, spices, sauces that you would like and then the chefs cook it up and it is brought to your table. Price is reasonable, food is fresh, selection of items is amazing! Servers are great in making sure you have all you need. I will be back!!!

In the big Algonquin commons strip alongside other restaurants, Jiangs is a bit of a budget option for many. It is however decently vegan friendly. However, they differ greatly from Yummy in a lot of ways: 1. Sauces are marked vegan, although the garlic sauce should say it even if it's just minced garlic. 2: rice is not required and you could fill your bowl with whatever 3: filler goes separately 4: salad bar 5:soups/rice So this means that as a vegan I can easily skip meat, load up on veggies and tofu, pick sauces and filler, and have a salad bar while I wait for my food (or soup etc). Naturally the salad bar is pretty basic, but it is a plus to me as a vegan I suppose. They do have a menu but I have not seen anyone actually order off of it vs doing the stirfry. Of course none of the soups are vegan by the salad bar but that's okay! The bowl for meats and veggies is smaller than Yummy, but you don't have to put in filler so that's a bit different of a situation. On top of that, there's a noticeably large amount of seasoning options at the end of the process. They've always been consistent on their cooking. Jiangs is a bit of a hidden gem, but it's definitely worth a visit. We go here often, for a reason. I just did again, tonight.

We are always greeted upon entrance, exit, and are politely taken care of through the duration of our visit. I have noticed that the quality of food items is always fresh, you can taste it in your finished product. I think their flat top has become well seasoned through the years. Those in charge of grilling are experts. They never under or overcook. When we're not in the mood for bar fare or white tablecloth dining, we find ourselves here. Always hot, always fresh, always delicious.

My husband and I love exploring cuisines from all around the world, and we've had Central Asian…read morecuisine before, but not Mongolian. This restaurant is in a little strip mall in Morton Grove. The owner is very welcoming and the place is small, but cozier than I expected. I had some worries about Mongolian cuisine, since I only eat fish and vegetarian food. Because of the landlocked country's very cold climate and lack of rivers/lakes -- making produce, rice, and spices very difficult to grow -- this is a cuisine that's all based on meat, animal fats, dairy, and some noodles and dumplings, with some culinary influences from it's neighbors Russia and China. But the owner is very helpful. After giving us tea and golden-fried dough balls as a classic Mongolian welcoming appetizer, she said they could make me one of the Chinese-inspired glass noodle dishes with just vegetables. It was a generous portion, seasoned in a no-frills way with salt and pepper, but very tasty. My husband, who eats meat, had the much more traditional buuz, which are dumplings with meat. He was happy with it. We also got a sauerkraut and carrot side salad with light vinegar, and a Russian-inspired potato salad with carrots, peas, pickles, and mayo that is not vegetarian -- it tasted quite savory and a little smoky, and we think it had some ham in it. And of course we had to try the Mongolian milk tea, which is made with green tea, whole milk, butter, and it's slightly salted (in Mongolia, this would be made with horse milk.) It's an acquired taste, but it fits the cuisine. The whole experience and friendly hospitality of the owner made this a fun dinner for us. Note: although they have "Mongolian beef" on their menu, that is actually NOT a Mongolian dish -- that was an invention by a Taiwanese restaurateur who used the name for marketing purposes.

Greeted by Anna when we walked in on a Wednesday night, this place is as frills and homemade as it gets. She immediately recommended the signature dishes knowing that most people probably have had little exposure to Mongolian food. We ended up ordering the steamed dumplings (Buuz) and the lamb noodle soup. My goodness, it blew us away! Dumplings were clearly handcrafted and steamed to perfection. Just the right wrapper and meat proportion. The lamb noodle soup was generous in meat portion and noodles soft but chewy. Anna will recommend the beef pastry as that's the signature dish of Mongolia, so I intend to try that next time I'm in. If you're looking for something outside of the ordinary and tasty, I would highly recommend coming here!

The food options themselves made a positive first impression. Unfortunately, the service left A LOT to be desired. We were seated, given cups and dishes, and our broth was brought out--but after that, it was extremely difficult to get anyone to come by. We had questions and needed water refills, but no one checked on us. We had to actively look for staff because they never returned to the table. What made the experience especially frustrating was the automatic 18% gratuity charge, which came to roughly $35 for our group. An automatic service charge is hard to justify when the only service we received was being seated and having the initial items brought to the table. Attentive service, basic check-ins, and availability for questions should be the minimum expectation when that fee is going to I felt they were dismissive and the service was nonexistent.. Being forced to pay a $35 gratuity when the staff provided virtually no service felt like highway robbery.... Oh and drinks are not included....
