    Thai Tea Ice Cream

Nothing beats a day spent at a toy shop followed by ice cream and candy. Yummi Joy is a place where a kid can be a kid, even if it means being 35. Yummi Joy's ice creams are all made with coconut milk, making it a great option for vegans and those with dairy allergies or who are lactose intolerant. Yummi Joy not only offers ice cream, but you can order a milkshake, a latte, or buy candy from the bulk and make your own candy salad to go. Although I am personally not a fan of non-dairy ice cream, it's amazing that there's a place that can offer an abundance of options for non-dairy consumers.

Walking back to our hotel after dinner we were interested in something sweet. Came across this cute candy and ice cream store! A tad pricey but overall many options and the vegan ice cream flavors were plentiful.

I came to yummi joy after a free yoga in the park event just a couple blocks north at republic square. It was very hot outside, so we wanted some ice cream and this was the closest ice cream place on the map. Turns out it's actually a full candy shop - but they do serve fully vegan and gluten-free ice cream from the dessert place "Gati," which I think also has a location in East Austin. They had very unique flavors, that was the first thing I noticed - the flavor I ended up getting was Thai tea, which it really did taste like! They also had black sesame, horchata, and some other options that were very unique. The server was helpful and explaining the flavors, and letting us sample a few. They do have a little seating area next to the main window in the front with some benches where you can sit and eat, but we bought our ice cream at 8:45, and they close at nine so we ended up sitting outside the store and eating there at a table. It was hot and humid because it was Austin in the summer, but the ice cream was very cooling and very tasty. it was a little pricey in my opinion for what you get, if memory stands it was $5.50 for one scoop, but I do remember them saying they could do half scoops of multiple flavors. Overall, the ice cream was good, but I think there were only 8 to 10 flavors so not a huge variety? Although if you also want candy, this is kind of perfect since it is a full candy store as well, and I believe also a toy store. Would be very, very fun for kids!

Had some time to kill while waiting to see a show at ACL live and came to Yummi Joy to beat the heat. We were immediately greeted upon arrival and got right in line to order. This is a candy store, but they also have ice cream and a cafe! My Ice Americano hit the spot. My girlfriend got the espresso frap and enjoyed it. We split the Golden Milk ice cream for our sweet tooth. This place is full of joy and will bring a smile to your face!

A super fun place to shop for sweets! First, they have a coffee bar available as a walk-up window. Right inside the door, there are homemade candies and fudge. I tried two of their bonbons, and they were fabulous. They've got some ice cream scoops too! Now in the shop itself, I found really unusual items. There are Bob Ross items, an entire line of Pez dispensers, bulk candy by the pound, and what I brought home were the candy necklaces and bracelets from my childhood. The store is a lot of fun to shop, and I ended up going twice, because I wasn't satisfied I completely looked at their entire inventory:)!

I went in here and was excited to find it because it looked so fun and the reviews were so cool. It turns out it's really just candy store. It might have a few things that are different, but not really. I tried the vanilla bean ice cream and it didn't taste like vanilla bean and it had a weird texture. I also had two of the truffles, the coconut with chocolate and the carrot cake. Very basic, no depth, no richness. I definitely think this is very overrated.

Perfect size for a little pick me up

Walk in to buy a coffee and to see if I could charge my phone while I waited in line for the concert up the street and the staff was supper friendly and accommodating to my dietary needs definitely would visit again

We tried the cake batter, golden milk, and chocolate vegan ice creams. The chocolate was my favorite but the golden milk was a unique flavor. They let you try a couple samples and you can also mix two flavors in a single scoop.

Got upsold on fudge. Was gonna buy 3, but then they said if I got 1 more I'd get 2 free!

Such a fun looking candy shop with bright colors and so many sweets. Lots of unique packaged candies ranging from regional U.S. specialties to imported foreign treats. They also had an ice cream scoop freezer and fresh made candy counter. I was going to get a mix of truffles and fudge, but they upsold me on the fudge (Buy 4 Get 2 Free), so I ended up doing a big fudge tasting. Basic Witch Ice Cream w/ Black Velvet Cone: Vegan pumpkin ice cream with a charcoal flavored cone. It looked very cool, especially with Halloween just around the corner. But it was kinda bland. Yes, obviously real dairy ice cream would have more flavor, but that's too easy. What it could have used was more of the Pumpkin Spice Latte spices to assault my tongue in cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and all spice. Birthday Cake Fudge: Definitely looks the coolest with bright pink colors and tons of sprinkles in different shapes and sizes. Even glittery sprinkles. But it kinda tastes like regular old white chocolate. Creamy, but bland. Rocky Road: A classic and maybe my favorite here. A generous amount of spongy marshmallows to contrast the pasty fudge. They used pecans for the nut, which I guess makes sense since Texas has a lot of pecans. Really like this because it was like a candy bar. Grasshopper: Nice strong mint swirls against the default chocolate. Felt like those old crème de menthe brownies people liked to make in the 90s, but in fudge form. Cappuccino: It tasted like creamy white chocolate with a subtle coffee undertone. It was a good example of how to make fudge without strong chocolate. Caramel Peanut: With the chewy texture of the fudge meeting the thick layer of caramel and the crunchy peanuts, this reminded me of a snickers. Definitely liking the more candy bar-ish fudges. Caramel Pecan: This is like the turtle candy, but in fudge form. The pecans are a little softer than the peanuts, giving it a good chew feel.

The variety of vegan ice creams here made my heart sing. Thank goodness you are limited to two samples per person, or I would've had a much more difficult time deciding. I went with the golden milk flavor - which was well balanced and just flavorful enough without being overwhelming. Staff was kind and patient, prices were reasonable!

I've passed by Yummi Joy many times, finally stopped by yesterday. I don't think I'll ever be able to walk past it without visiting again. From the minute I entered there was a warm greeting. The selection of candies and Yummi Joy is delightful. I found some red vines, candy in bulk, and chocolate. I noticed there was so much more, will have to return for the ice cream! There was also a delectable display of chocolates, note to self must try!

A smallish candy store with lots of off-the-cuff novelty candies, sweets, fudge, and ice cream. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The wares were a little pricey for what they were, however. Nice to browse.

This small candy shop on Airport Blvd (also locations were in Round Rock & Lakeline mall) was filled with many family memories. Their Texas Chewie Pecan Pralines were a tradition for our family especially during the holidays. When we lived in Washington state for about seven years, and every time we came home, we would take back the Texas Chewie Pecan Pralines to folks in Washington state and some for us too. Smile. We liked that the box had Texas written on it, which gave us a great sense of Texas pride. In addition, at Easter we always purchased the pastel-colored thin mints and at Christmas the red and green thin mints that literally melted in your mouth. Importantly, we would occasionally go by Lammes to get an assortment of candies to snack on. It felt like there was an unlimited amount of choices of this delicious candy. Lammes candy was founded in 1878 and family run since 1885. This cute little candy store was an Austin institution! It was Austin's oldest operated family business and a source of pride for Austinites. Its signature Texas Chewie Pecan Pralines introduced in 1892 was one of its most iconic candies along with the chocolate and caramel Longhorns. In April 2026, Lammes announced it would begin winding down operations after 141 years, identifying rising ingredient costs, labor expenses, and long term sustainability challenges as reasons for their closure. The Round Rock location closed on April 24, 2026. The Airport Boulevard flagship store remained open temporarily until Saturday, May 9th (our last visit) to allow for final purchases. This candy store closure was a huge loss for Austin.

Unbelievably, we had never been here despite living so close, and since they're closing we felt obligated to go in and try it. The place has been around since 1-8-8-5!! We probably didn't get the most legitimate experience because of the crowds. We waited outside for 20 minutes and then inside for another 20 minutes just to be able to get some chocolates from the counter. The whole situation seemed a bit discombobulated and parking was a nightmare, but everyone around us was in a good mood and chatty, so the atmosphere was pleasant. Some of their items are lame, like repackaged watermelon sour patch kids for $9 (!). But of the chocolate from the case that we got, all were really good: the truffles and chocolates are not Big City good, but for a sweet lil shop on Airport Road, no complaints. We also stocked up on a couple boxes of their famous Longhorns and pecan pralines. We asked about merchandise and they didn't have any currently in stock, which was kind of a bummer because we're not planning on going back. Three stars, but a wistful three, and we wish them nothing but the best before the final chocolate curtain falls.

I had to see. Birthday weekend energy. Inside, the first thing that hits you is that massive pecan scented candle filling the whole store. They did this on purpose. It feels like a cozy Hallmark movie. The place smells delightful and that scent makes you want to buy something. Makes you ready to sample everything in sight. You deserve this. The store has everything: pecan pies, pecan candy, shelled/unshelled pecans, jams, jellies, hot sauces, toys, Texas branded/themed everything...you name it. It's all specialty, all cute, and all priced like it. I grabbed my niece two grenade-shaped hot sauces from "The General" brand because they were trendy and hilarious. But YIKES...Fifteen dollars each. Why, why, WHYYYYYYYY???? I gently reminded myself that Christmas is coming and delusion is part of the season. The staff was unbelievably friendly. They nudged you to sample this, try that, taste this. But beware because that southern hospitality will have you spending money you know you shouldn't or know you don't have.
