Green salad (quite large)
Chris D.

I stopped in this evening for my first time dining here and it was great! We love Japanese food and usually have it 2-3 times a month; Yume will definitely be added to our list of favorites. Very friendly server (and attentive). I did come in later in the evening and they were still very gracious about seating me and I was served quickly. It's a small, quant dining area but very clean. Thank you for such a nice experience Yume.

Sushi is almost religious experience for me. I have had a lot of it in a lot of places. Unfortunately, Yume kinda let me down. While the salmon was very fresh and tasty, the rolls are so small and wildly overpriced. Let's talk about the size issue, because this is more of a deal breaker for me than the price. There is so little in the rolls, and they're the wrapped in so little rice that they don't really stick together and begin to come unwrapped when picked up. I would rather have a roll that is less pieces and wrapped big enough to hold its shape. We also tried the teriyaki beef and broccoli and the meat was inconsistently cooked, some was really overdone. The sauce was also disappointing because it had very little flavor. I get that this is Lodi, but I can get sushi in San Francisco that's not only markedly better, but also cheaper. I usually give any place w couple tries, but I really don't think I will be back here, and really can't recommend you try it.

Fat tender udon noodles

I ordered lunch here last month and just remembered from my phone pics. My Udon soup hit the spot. The noodles were so big and perfectly chewy, and the broth was full of umami. I drove about 10 mins to pick it up. It was still piping hot when I got home. I tried both California Rolls - one with real crab and the other with imitation crab. Oddly enough, I preferred the imitation crab! Leftovers were decent the next day too. The Crunchy Rainbow Roll was also fresh and satisfying. I'm sure it would have been crunchier if it wasn't a pickup order. This place is small and casual. The cashier was friendly and polite when I took a while signing the receipt cause I forgot my glasses. I'd return to try more special rolls.

A couple of rolls

Probably some of the best sushi we've had and with some very unique combinations of things on some of the rolls. All excellent even the egg plant sushi. The texture of the egg plant was different but the flavor made it exceptional. A must try.

Ah-mazing sushi! Walked in on a Tuesday around 7 pm to find that this quaint little sushi spot was busy! Excellent and fast customer service experience! Dim lighting, quaint, low-key background music. We will definitely be back soon and I am telling all of my family and friends about Yume! Go - you will not be disappointed!!!

Best service/sushi restaurant in Lodi. The fish is fresh and one is able to have refreshing sushi without all the sauces and frying.

Everything came out fresh and nicely plated without feeling overdone. The specialty roll with salmon and spicy sauce had great balance, and the fish tasted clean and fresh. The California roll was simple but well made, which honestly says a lot. The edamame was hot and perfectly salted. The house salad with dressing was light and flavorful. The udon vegetable soup was comforting and filling with fresh vegetables and soft noodles in a flavorful broth. Service was attentive and friendly. It was fairly loud during our visit, but the staff stayed on top of everything and we never felt ignored. The space felt clean with warm wood tables and modern touches. We finished with a vanilla ice cream dessert, "waffle ice cream" topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle, which was simple and fun to share. I strongly recommend the double Alba roll for a spicy tuna experience. It was just phenomenal, so much so that I bought one to go as I was signing my bill I need it for breakfast the next day. Amazing. Surface was good, it's a team effort so don't expect one really good server just a lot of different servers. Prices were reasonable but again, this is five star sushi. By any standard this is exceptional!

We ordered through DoorDash and ordered sticky ribs, 2 specialty rolls and sesame chicken big plate. The sticky ribs were cold, and tasted like it had been sitting out- the meat tasted a few days old. I know the kitchen preps things in advance but this was not good enough for me to even want to try again. Their portions are usually decently sized so I was shocked to open the box and only see 2 pieces! I wish there was more transparency on how the portion size on the menu. If I knew it was only 2 pieces, I would have skipped it and saved the $13 we spent. The sesame chicken big plate also did not taste like it was prepared fresh- kind of like it had been sitting out for a while and they gave us whatever the kitchen had out. It wasn't as crispy as usual and was soggier than usual. Obviously when you get DoorDash, it's not the same as dining in, so our expectations are managed appropriately. But we typically order M sushi through DD and it's never been this disappointing. Maybe we ordered too soon to their closing time? Really hoping this was just a fluke.

Pay yourself in sushi! Here's why…read more.. See, I've been told by an esquire, that when you budget, you pay yourself first, before the other required expenses. Sooooo, I pay myself with sushi sometimes. This is acceptable, yeah, cuz either I try to save $25, which would eventually get spent anyway, or use it on something valuable. The value of sushi or sashimi with vegetables, is that it contains your alphabet Vitamins A, B, C, and D; plus, the greatly beneficial Omega-3. In addition to those benefits, getting a bento box combo with chicken gives you more protein for building muscle. This array of vitamins and protein sources provides satiety. Alright, now that you've heard me out and possibly have known all this before, then, yeah have brunch, lunch, or dinner here at Matsuyama. They're conveniently located around the corner from the gym. Simple conversation, and a peaceful meal; peaceful like it would be on a pine mountain (Matsuyama).

Both the owners and the staff genuinely care about cultivating a warm and accessible vibe at Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse has an extensive menu - serving everything from quality steaks, to hibachi, to specialty sushi rolls, to fried rice, to noodle dishes and more. For their hibachi options you can choose from steak, to salmon, to chicken, to shrimp, to lobster, and more. All look (and I'm sure taste - as well) delicious. One particularly photogenic standout from their specialty sushi menu - was their Lobster King Roll, which is comprised of lobster tempura inside lobster salad and tobiko on top. Swoon. When we were here, we sampled an array of sushi rolls and hibachi options and all were exceptionally flavorful. If you have dietary issues or concerns - be sure to let the staff know. The staff are attentive and they seem eager to assist customers navigate the menu accordingly. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse isn't cheap, but you can tell by the quality of their food - that you're paying for well crafted dishes that have been made with intention. That might have signaled something as far as expectations. The decor was pretty basic and not really what you would expect for a Japanese steakhouse...the decor looks more like a breakfast diner. They serve only wine and beer, no cocktails. Service staff were friendly enough. Our meals came with miso soups and a salad, the latter of which had an orange dressing (maybe French), not the sesame ginger you might expect. Our entrees came fairly promptly, yet lacked the white rice and fried rice sides that were supposed to accompany the main dishes. I'd say the rice didn't come until a good 10 minutes after the main entrees arrived. People in our party were trying to eat slowly (to buy time for the rice to arrive), though that meant our food was getting colder. All the hibachi entrees came with a few bonus shrimp. The meat was tasty enough and came with an orange sauce and a brown (sesame ginger) sauce for dipping. Don't come here expecting a teppanyaki table or to see your meal cooked on hibachi at your actual table...all the items are cooked out of view, in the kitchen. The experience was sort of 'meh' for me, but my husband had a slightly more favorable opinion. I have other restaurants I'd prefer returning to, before this one.
