I stopped in this evening for my first time dining here and it was great! We love Japanese food and usually have it 2-3 times a month; Yume will definitely be added to our list of favorites. Very friendly server (and attentive). I did come in later in the evening and they were still very gracious about seating me and I was served quickly. It's a small, quant dining area but very clean. Thank you for such a nice experience Yume.

Sushi is almost religious experience for me. I have had a lot of it in a lot of places. Unfortunately, Yume kinda let me down. While the salmon was very fresh and tasty, the rolls are so small and wildly overpriced. Let's talk about the size issue, because this is more of a deal breaker for me than the price. There is so little in the rolls, and they're the wrapped in so little rice that they don't really stick together and begin to come unwrapped when picked up. I would rather have a roll that is less pieces and wrapped big enough to hold its shape. We also tried the teriyaki beef and broccoli and the meat was inconsistently cooked, some was really overdone. The sauce was also disappointing because it had very little flavor. I get that this is Lodi, but I can get sushi in San Francisco that's not only markedly better, but also cheaper. I usually give any place w couple tries, but I really don't think I will be back here, and really can't recommend you try it.

I ordered lunch here last month and just remembered from my phone pics. My Udon soup hit the spot. The noodles were so big and perfectly chewy, and the broth was full of umami. I drove about 10 mins to pick it up. It was still piping hot when I got home. I tried both California Rolls - one with real crab and the other with imitation crab. Oddly enough, I preferred the imitation crab! Leftovers were decent the next day too. The Crunchy Rainbow Roll was also fresh and satisfying. I'm sure it would have been crunchier if it wasn't a pickup order. This place is small and casual. The cashier was friendly and polite when I took a while signing the receipt cause I forgot my glasses. I'd return to try more special rolls.

Probably some of the best sushi we've had and with some very unique combinations of things on some of the rolls. All excellent even the egg plant sushi. The texture of the egg plant was different but the flavor made it exceptional. A must try.

Ah-mazing sushi! Walked in on a Tuesday around 7 pm to find that this quaint little sushi spot was busy! Excellent and fast customer service experience! Dim lighting, quaint, low-key background music. We will definitely be back soon and I am telling all of my family and friends about Yume! Go - you will not be disappointed!!!

THE BEST SUSHI IN LODI! If you're looking for a good and inexpensive traditional Japanese restaurant you've found it. Lodi is lucky to have one of the best sushi chefs in the Central Valley. Sit at the bar and just let them make you lunch or dinner. You can't go wrong here. read more

Absolute favorite Japanese food in town! It did not help that I worked across the street and literally would be there every other day. The teriyaki chicken bowl is a MUST! It comes with grilled onions and grilled mushrooms over a bed of steamed rice. Asparagus roll is really good as well! The best Japanese restaurant I have experienced in Lodi so far. The service was satisfactory - the waitresses are very friendly and thoughtful every single moment during our dinner. The food was excellent - the seafood was fresh and delicous. I highly recommend the Dragon Roll. Hope to try more dishes next time. read more

Our family goes to Yume all the time. It is definitely our go to restaurant! We like to get the teriyaki salmon, tempura and Saba plate (the Saba is not on the menu) and their squid vinegar appetizer. Masa has been so kind to our family and the Buddhist church so we enjoy seeing him as well! The only critique I have is the service. When Yume first opened it was great, but now we have to continuously ask our servers for refills on beverages and etc. All in all one of our favorite places in Lodi. read more

If authentic Japanese you deserve and want, around here Yume is your place; if you desire less than authentic, you have other places to choose from. While a but pricey, the taste, freshness and quality you get is worth your money. Ask for the secrete meal of the day, if available, enjoy. read more

This is the best sushi in the valley... This is a cute little place that has really come a long way. I love the tempera roll and the Phillie roll here. The flavors are so clean and fresh! The prices are a little pricey but worth the quality that they give you. The staff is friendly and they always fulfill my togo order fast. Yume and Haru are tied for the best sushi everrrrrr. I love how fresh the sashimi is here! The lomi lomi appetizer is perfection and the owner is always friendly and helpful. This restaurant is the best sushi restaurant in town. Menu items are very reasonably priced--ignore the reviews that say it's too expensive, they must be buying their sushi at Costco. I know of one place that is cheaper, but the quality of sashimi is nowhere near the quality of this place. The owner was the head chef at CoCoRo's and he left to open this place. This is a sushi place I can get behind because it's not all frat guys doing sake bombs and Americanized sushi rolls with too much sauce. We were so impressed by Yume. The wait staff was very attentive, and the food was AMAZING!!! (The tuna ceviche and squid was my favorite!) The prices are very fair for the quality of sushi you are getting, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Next time I think I'll sit at the sushi bar so I can watch them make all those creations! Definitely a place I will go to time and time again, and also bring along my friends who appreciate REAL sushi, and not that garbage you buy in the grocery store. ;) read more

My primary reason for stopping here was to try their ramen. You may not know this but I am a big fan of noodles no matter which country they're from. We started with a couple of small plates; Yume prawns and spicy lomi lomi. Both were excellent in flavor and presentation. We also had an Eschigo micro brew; also excellent. Our ramen followed and I was quite impressed with the tonkatsu broth although the bowl itself could have been a bit bigger. The noodles were fresh and tasty but the chasu should have cooked longer to improve texture. Overall a nice experience and one I will repeat. Yay Lodi finally has a noodle house! read more

Yume is definitely my Lodi Area Favorite for Japanese food. Recently, they started offering a "Dinner for Two" for $35 which includes: Edamame Gyoza (best tasting around!) Miso Soup 2 entrees (they even let you do minor substitutions, which is awesome!) 2 mochi balls for dessert. My wife loves their SPICY TERIYAKI sauce, last night she had the Salmon. I love the Crunchy Rainbow Roll. I've had many different items from their menu as well as specials over the last few years and I have yet to have anything that wasn't up to par. (I still love the pumpkin tempura and the eggplant appetizers!) Fish is always fresh and never questionable... (Ever had sashimi that you were afraid to put it in your mouth? Well that has never happened here!) The service is almost always excellent: prompt and attentive. The place is always clean. They have a wide array of Sake to try. They always have relaxing dinner music playing softly in the background which adds to the family friendly atmosphere. (As opposed to at least one place in town where I leave with a headache after sitting through 45+ mins of head thumping hip hop - Not to say I don't like dance music, but save it for the club scene...Needless to say, I don't go that place any more) The owner is very friendly and always makes sure to step out from behind his sushi bar to make sure all of his guests are having an enjoyable meal. read more

Everything tasted very fresh. We had the red Dragon roll (hot!), Dragon roll, Caterpillar roll and Snowcrab California. All of them were presented beautifully. The Udon soup was okay, just some seaweed strips and noodle in a tasty broth. The beef teriyaki with rice was flavorful. The service was attentive for a late Saturday night before closing time. My favorite roll here is the crunchy rainbow roll. One thing that makes this place stand out is the sashimi because it tastes fresh and the cuts are good sized portions. I also enjoy their mixed tempura whenever I'm in the mood for it. This place manages to make the perfect tempura: light, not too greasy, and a very crispy outer shell. The area is fairly quiet and I enjoy coming back here again whenever I'm in the area. read more

I have been here a few times now, I love this place. Reasonably priced menu. Top notch service, and great food. The Sashimi Salad is delicious. I also tried the Spicy Salmon Roll this time. This place was really good. I was surprised with how much food i got, we went with the meal for 2 for 35 dollars and it was a lot of food. We had really great service too, our sever was really nice and very funny, I will defiantly be going back there again and again. read more

This wonderful little restaurant is easily the best Japanese in town ... the Salmon Tempura is absolutely perfect and the California rolls are easily the best anywhere in the area. They do something with the rice to make it authentic and delicious. The food is fresh and cooked and presented to perfection. The service is top notch. The owner recognizes regulars as does the pleasant waitress. Quietly elegant atmosphere and pleasant music and ambiance. Somehow every dish is plated with a flair that emphases quality. I see one review suggested they lower the price and save the quality for evenings ... are you kidding me. They kill with every meal. read more

Meh, the food here is just okay, but the prices are on the lower size which is a nice plus. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and tofu and split a spicy tuna roll. The chicken and tofu wasn't anything special. It sort of tasted like something I could make myself. The tuna in the roll didn't taste terribly fresh. It tasted fishy and not in a good way. I get you're eating raw fish, but I've eaten plenty of tuna rolls and this one just didn't taste great. Service was good and the chef checked in on the table. I'm not saying it was bad, it just wasn't anything special. read more

Don't let the hole in the wall strip mall fool you. This place is pretty tasty and reasonably priced. The service is awesome. We came in on Valentine's Day (no reservation) and thankfully they were open (they're typically closed on Sunday's). We ordered a few rolls, Nigiri, sake, edamame, and even paid an $8 corkage fee to open one of our bottles of wine we just picked up from a local winery. All in all we walked out under $70 for the 2 of us - including tax & tip! I can certainly see us going back here next time we're in the Lodi area. read more

WOW! I can't believe I had never been in here. The food was SO fresh, I mean even the rice was lighter and fluffier and tasted fresher than other places in town. The service was incredibly prompt and the prices were comparable to other sushi bars in the greater central valley area. The Sashimi entree came with more options than most other places I've been (5 kinds vs. a usual 3). I highly recommend Yume on all counts! read more

Their portions are usually decently sized so I was shocked to open the box and only see 2 pieces! I wish there was more transparency on how the portion size on the menu. If I knew it was only 2 pieces, I would have skipped it and saved the $13 we spent. The sesame chicken big plate also did not taste like it was prepared fresh- kind of like it had been sitting out for a while and they gave us whatever the kitchen had out. It wasn't as crispy as usual and was soggier than usual. Obviously when you get DoorDash, it's not the same as dining in, so our expectations are managed appropriately. But we typically order M sushi through DD and it's never been this disappointing. Maybe we ordered too soon to their closing time? Really hoping this was just a fluke.

Friendly environment with a nice smile every time I go there. It makes you feel welcome that you want to go back again. The restroom is clean and hygiene. I cannot find any flaws against them but good reviews only. I highly recommend Toyo Sushi the place to go. Prove me wrong if this is not the greatest sushi restaurants. Service 100% 5 star from the warm greeting walking in till you left it was felt an appreciation for you coming in and dining with them. Food was outstanding! We started with the gyoza, 2 hand rolls and 3 rolls. I cannot narrow down a highlight because everything was that good! The size of the hand rolls were almost a meal in themselves. I had the unagi hand roll and it was amazing! All the best at around this was a fantastic place to eat and we will do sure be coming back.

I have never been to Japan, but for me Yume is like stepping into a little slice of Tokyo right here in our own backyard! Everything is so fresh and delicious. I especially love their Spicy Crunchy Scallop Roll but get the Yume Roll if you are feeling really hungry; that thing is huge! The fish just melts in your mouth, and the portions are super generous. They also have a delicious plum wine and Saki offerings, and you can even buy Japanese soda and candy here. It's small and cozy inside and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming. If you're looking for a romantic date night spot or just a really delicious Japanese meal, Yume is the place to go. You won't be disappointed! Don't forget to try their mochi ice cream for dessert. Best sushi in the area. Order the Yume roll - - - It is huge! The owner/chef here is really nice and you will feel welcome. They have TV to watch and usually low music but you can still enjoy a good conversation and meal with friends. Authentic and delicious. Come here! read more
