Re: Manicurist M, yes, she let me have the water as hot as I wanted it. Let me soak as long as I wanted to. And took special care not to excise the skin tag off my heel. Nice! Re: kitchen tools. Um yeah, they use a giant extra sharp cheese grater (think ped egg) and a mixer with this "garage workshop" pumice stone sander attachment to eradicate all the dead skin. The workers who do 'fill-ins' or 'gels' have your buffet type "sneeze guard" plexiglass between the sanding of the finger and their face/nose. I guess that minimizes the inhalation of all those nail filings. Re: workers doing a great job. Yes, Manicurist M. nipped my cuticles like a surgeon. She was precise! Exact! Thorough! She even got to this under nail hang nail thing I have on one finger. Usually, I drive myself nearly insane trying to nibble it off with my teeth. Thanks M for nipping it off for me! Also they do the "twirl each toe (or finger) around, then pull it" action during the hand/foot massage. I love that. [Side Re: hole-wall. Yes, it is your run-of-the-mill, Asian owned, slightly scungy nail shop. A little Cuban man came into the shop during the last 10 minutes of my service and starts talking Very LOUDLY IN SPANISH about black people in general, and me specifically. He thought I didn't understand him. Hmmm. I sure understood enough to know he was talking about ME. Plus Manicurist M. and the next manicurist [1] tried unsuccessfully to shush him; and [2] would-not, could-not even LOOK at me when the talking was done; she could not even take my payment. Dam.
