Located in a strip with other businesses but with plenty of parking available so parking was a breeze & its right off highway 61. Got promptly seated during Friday evening and decided to try the buffet out. I really wanted to like this place, but the buffet was mid at best. There were some hits but unfortunately lots and lots of misses. The inside is a bit dark (see pic) and the tables/chairs have definitely seen better days. Onto the food now: Multiple items seemed really cold, as if the hot plate that's supposed to keep them warm were not working or something and some other items were over seasoned (mushroom with gravy) or others felt under cooked (calamari) and some were completely bland. The sushi did not taste great and the baked salmon, ugh, made me shrivel while just looking at it. With that said - I've never had Peanut Butter Chicken, so mustered the courage to try that and it was not bad at all. There was a hibachi section (included in buffet price) so we tried that as well as ordered off the menu as no one in the party was enjoying the buffet, and both of those items were stellar. I think, it is just the buffet that was very mediocre but if you order off the menu, this place is not bad. Yes the place is dark but I guess it makes it easier to not see everyone wolfing down their buffet plates or more so, so they don't see me doing so. Service is minimal, it's a buffet so I don't expect much in that area. The options are a bit limited but the trays are at least refreshed and warm on a weeknight. Yes, deveining doesn't seem to be a thing at Yuan's and that might be a deal breaker for some people. read more

I really enjoy this establishment. I live just a few blocks away, I'm Korean, and I give it two thumbs up. It's what you expect to find in a small town Chinese buffet and the price makes it just right. In the last 2 weeks, my family returned about 3 times because it's worth it. Just finished lunch with six other people and all of us agreed it was a well done buffet. Good selection of sushi, good assortment of healthy and classic options, as well as a hibachi grill makes this place a great lunch or dinner stop. It was also busy, so you know it's good! It's a nice quiet place with an open grill (I have not eaten from the grill yet. Plenty of sushi on the buffet which is would I actually go for. The table service is very good and, after 1:00 or 2:00 pm they haven't been real busy. The quality of all of the food in my opinion is very. The price is right too. read more

Honestly I don't think I've ever been to a Chinese buffet and the floor isn't sticky. This is a first. This place is just so clean. They're always cleaning the tables, booths, chairs and floors when they have down time it makes it a pleasant experience especially during times like this. Food selection for hot food is 2 buffet stations along with the make your own hibachi dish a sushi station and a cold buffet section with salad and fruits. Pretty standard stuff, nothing too crazy but everything they do is really good. And they make their food according to how busy they are. If they know they don't have as many people they make smaller portions so they don't waste and if it runs low they just make more so stuff is always fresh. This is for sure one of the better Chinese buffets I've been to and you can't beat the price either! read more

The perfect hidden Hastings gem!! All the food was amazing, and only $9.95 for a lunch buffet!! They had all the "normal" chinese food items, along with dessert, sushi, hibachi, and ice cream included with the meal. There is a good variety of different foods byt many tasted similar to each other. I enjoy the fact that there is a hibachi window that allows you to make your own combination and gave it cooked fresh. I give a 5 star rating, because they are exactly what a Chinese buffet is supposed to be. The sushi/CA rolls are very good. The buffet has all of the usual items, and I found them to be prepared quite nicely. Even the fried calamari was done to perfection, which you rarely find at any restaurant. I'm not a huge fan of buffet style dining anymore, not after coming to the realization that it usually comes from a box or can and is usually prepared by a teenager that couldn't microwave his/her way out of starvation. HOWEVER, Yuan's is the exception! The food is great, and the staff is super friendly. They are very reasonably priced, especially considering the excellent service the staff provides. Best Chinese buffet around!! Period. I'm very picky when it comes to Chinese buffets and this one always hits the spot! All my favorites are always available (chicken&broccoli, general Tso chicken, green beans etc). Their orange chicken is also absolutely fabulous. They have a FRESH sushi buffet also and it's much better than any other Chinese buffet sushi I've had. It's not great, of course, it's still just a buffet sushi but I really enjoy it. They also have mozzarella sticks which I love even if it is random for a Chinese joint :P My boyfriend enjoys the coconut chicken and peanut butter chicken a lot! The food is wonderfully fresh and hot, I always see the staff coming out with more and more food. It's a small buffet but it does have all the basic favorites including nice selection of desserts (red bean ice cream) and salad bar. There's also a fresh hibachi grill which I haven't tried yet since I always get too full too quickly. And the egg rolls... Yummy!! Definitely the nicest Chinese Buffet in the Hastings area...there's not that many to choose from but it's really not bad. read more

Of all the buffets restaurant I had went to there is no worst buffet than this one. Very bad customer services. All foods are old, rice are terrible hard, all food tray are empty with old food. I have to admit I wasn't expecting much from this "strip mall" asian buffet in Hastings (not a town I think of being very Asian ;), but I was very pleasantly surprised. The food in the buffet was fresh, with some items I haven't seen at buffets in the Twin Cities. The Peanut Butter Chicken (much better than it sounds), and Mongolian Beef were two of my favorites. Very flavorful. There was a nice variety of sushi/sashimi, the hot/sour soup was ok...better than most. The pot stickers were tough and dried out, but maintained their flavor. Bad place to eat. Food is re heated multiple times. Everything fried is dry and chewy. I had the Mongolian beef and also some sort of chicken and both were dry and had a burn taste. The worse was the fried rice which had a strong burn taste from being re heated multiple times. The sushi was not fresh and the whole sushi bar was a mess. The Mongolian grill veggie and meat bar was not cold enough so all the veggies and specially the meat look disgusting. I didn't had the nerve to try it either because it look like something that will get you sick. Servers were rude and pushy. Oh and btw it's over 12 dollars for dinner which is crazy for bunch of frozen and reheated food. Definitely won't be coming back and I suggest you to stay away from this bad restaurant. read more

We went for dinner on a Tuesday night around 7:30PM(hours state they are open until 9:30). The food was cold, and not just one thing, but nearly every dish I tried was cold, or some of the dish would be warm and some of it would be cold. It was $10.99 per person and neither of us were very impressed with the options or quality of the food. The spot is elite compared to the other mediocre restaurants in Hastings. Their pay for pound deal during COVID - 19 was the best deal I've seen since the Louisiana purchase. The only criticism I have is they don't offer a monthly membership deal. read more

I have a teenager and when he decides to crush some food I take him here. It's cheap and a solid place to eat. The also have some sushi and rolls. I eat it and it's always tasty never slimy or fishy tasting. They keep everything full and after your meal they bring ice cream of your choice. Wife and son like the green tea ice cream. read more
