Visited this spot a couple weeks ago for dinner with a friend. I was surprised how quickly this location opened once the former location closed. Parking is easy, in the Safeway parking lot. The restaurant was clean and bright. I was unsure what to order aside from the soup dumplings but we asked the waitress for recommendations when torn between items. We did order the pork soup dumplings and these were amazing. I loved the vinegar they came with and they came with a little ginger - I wish it was more. We were not feeling a big bowl of soup for as we had a couple drinks before at happy hour and didn't want anything too liquid-y. We got the sour and spicy cold noodles with beef. These were so good and flavorful (had one chili pepper for spice level on the menu but still had a kick). The next we ordered was the chickpea and minced pork noodles and wow, these were very delicious. I liked these more than the beef ones as the flavor was excellent, but be wary, they are hot! Service was quick and it was pretty cheap overall. My favorite was the dumplings and I'm looking forward to visiting once it's cold again in the fall to try their soups. read more

Great fast casual place for authentic Chinese hand pulled noodles and dumplings. The restaurant is impeccably clean, the service is prompt and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. My wife and I started with the soup dumplings - they were good - not incredible, but good. My wife had the Sesame Paste noodles with Minced Pork - mixed with a bit of the black vinegar and chili oil provided at the table this was a really flavorful dish - perfect for lunch. I went with the Chongqing Noodles - a generous portion of noodles in a spicy broth with peanuts and a fried egg. It was very spicy - but not over the top... just the right amount to be super flavorful. I felt like it was missing an element, maybe acid, but not completely sure. Still, it was great. This place does not take American Express. I did a pick up order and I only took my Amex with me. When I got there I gave the guy at the register my Amex but he said they only take Visa or Master. Me, panicking because that's the only physical card I had, I took out my Apple Pay to pay with one of the Visa/Master card I had saved and he asks me again if it's Visa or Master. This is, as far as I can tell, an authentic Sichuan / Chongqing noodle house plus snacks. High on its menu, though probably not specific to Sichuan or Chongqing cuisine is soup dumplings (小籠包). I had the 1st noodle dish - Chongqing Noodles - really tasty and just the right amount of spiciness and chock full of peanuts. The noodles were cooked just right - it's not al dente spaghetti but had just the right amount of stickiness to catch a good amount of the red hot spicy broth that was piping hot. The portion of noodles was a bit small, and some of the add ons like scallions could have been a bit more generous. Both could have been supplemented with add-ons ($2 for more noodles). The soup dumplings (小籠包）- these were probably one of the best that I've had in the DMV area in a while - really juicy, really thin-skinned, really hot, and just the right amount of seasoning. Lots more to try in the menu - scallion pancakes, panfried dumplings (鍋貼）, spicy oil wontons (紅油抄手）. Ambiance is more than a basic Chinese restaurant with some thoughtfulness taken with decor. Definitely will be back for more. Really close to Tyson's Corner. Who would've thought that there would be a good Sichuan noodle shop in McLean??? There are so many dishes to try at Yu Noodles.  We stacked the steam baskets high and enjoyed every bite.  Our first craving was for the soup dumplings and they didn't disappoint.  There three kinds, pork, peppercorn spicy and shrimp and pork,  that come in a rainbow of colors.  After that came the steamed pork buns and then the sesame past noodles with minced pork which were also served in a colorful presentation from green edamame to orange carrot.  The serving sizes were good and the food came quickly.  For dessert, we had the mango and sticky rice which was refreshing.  The restaurant does offer table service which is nice so you can stay seated and relaxed and enjoy your meal.  Yu Noodles is decorated with colorful mural on one wall and the whole space is clean and airy.  The restaurant is located in a newer strip center with plenty of convenient parking.  We look forward to returning soon to try  some of the other many noodle dishes, snacks and dumplings. read more

We went to Yu noodles one night because we were craving Chinese soup noodles and was considering heading out to Fairfax or going to A&J's for the 100th time before we found they opened a location in McLean. Everything was well seasoned and flavor and I'm pretty sure we'll be back for their noodles but I think that's it. First off the appetizers were so expensive. I think it was something $7 for a small plate of cold cucumbers which is kinda ridiculous. Even the soup dumplings. The flavor was good but 6 dumplings for $10.50 is also too expensive. Won't be getting these again and will stick to the freezer ones you can get from Eden center and steam at home. The noodles however were very good and we'll be back to try others. I first went to this restaurant at the Rockville, MD, location two years ago and enjoyed the noodles so much I had to go again when I was back in the DMV area. The ingredients are simple yet so delicious and flavorful. I love a hot cup of tea with their noodles in scallion oil and chicken and panfried pork buns. My friend and I also tried their mango pomelo sago, which was not too sweet and the perfect way to end our meal. I highly recommend slurping some noodles at any Yu Noodles location. Highly recommend Yu Noodles, I've been to the Falls Church and Rockville locations and both are great! I will say if you get any noodle dish to go in hungry because they are not shy with their noodle portions. I've only experienced good service at both locations but I have expectations that they're going to make sure I have my drinks and my food but I don't expect the service to be like an American chain restaurant where they're checking on me every 5-10 minutes. Ambiance?? It's a food-centric atmosphere, is it good for a date? Maybe. Is it good for kids? Maybe, it depends on your kids. Is it good for picky eaters? In my opinion the menu offers something for almost anyone. If you want a romantic night, this is not where you're going to have candle lit tables. pros: saturday noon - restaurant is busy and well-mannered. decor is very simple and welcoming. complimentary cucumber water is served this season. dishes are very fresh and light. all of us walked out happy, not too bloated to do some walking afterwards. other notes: several dishes could use more seasoning, but that is just preference based on the herndon and fairfax locations. that being said, mclean (this one) has dishes with a healthier, reduced salt taste -- so i don't feel as dehydrated or sluggish. my biggest gripe is that the soup dumplings (we ordered pork and shrimp) only had about a tablespoon of soup in them. sending out hope that next time my mouth will be properly drenched. read more

This is one of those places that makes decent food but service sucks. Their food isn't exceptional imo, but they do compare well to other places like Fahrenheit and possibly even A&J (though I would say I personally do prefer the options/dishes at these other places more). Most of their menu was noodles or dumplings. We got a beef noodle soup, their soup dumplings, their pan fried pork dumplings, and a woodear mushroom dish. While we didn't order that many things, our server ended up leaving off one thing. And we had to ask about it only to learn that it was never put in. Setting aside the service mishap, my thoughts on the food were - beef noodle soup tasted ok though not really what I expected (they called it a sichuan beef noodle soup and it really was just a spicy beef noodle soup, very light sichuan spices if any at all), the pan fried pork dumplings were standard (a lot of dough and some light frying, but bottoms on ours were soggy), and the soup dumpling were fine and I would say the highlight of the dishes. read more
