Service 4/5 The service here was great. Our waitress was friendly and welcoming. The food didn't take too long to come out, and the finished plates were cleared pretty quickly. The water also had slices of cucumbers which was a nice touch. We came during lunch which does get pretty busy. It was a little difficult to get a hold of our waitress at times because of how busy she was, but besides that, she was pretty attentive and quick. Ambiance 4.5/5 There's a lot of natural lighting from the big windows at the entrance which I really liked. The inside is big and there's plenty of seating. The decor on the walls depicting China and tasty food set a good atmosphere. The seats were comfy and the tables were big enough for multiple dishes. They also have outdoor seating. Mango Smoothie ($5) 4/5 The mango smoothie was sweet and tasted so fresh. It was the prefect consistency and wasn't too thick or watery. It was the perfect drink to pair with the hot and savory noodle soup. Peppercorn Spicy Soup Dumplings ($12) 3.5/5 The soup dumplings were a nice, shareable appetizer. Pro tip: make a little hole and put some ginger and vinegar in the dumpling to make it extra tasty. The skin held together pretty well and the meat inside was soft and tender. The soup inside was good and there was a slight hint of heat. Sichuan Beef Noodle Soup ($15) 4/5 This came out nice and hot and I really enjoyed this, especially having this in winter. The beef was soft and chewy and the noodles had a nice firmness and were well cooked. The broth had a nice flavor with a bit of spiciness. The veggies tasted fresh and contrasted well with a good, crunchy texture and some sourness that I really liked. Mango Pomelo Sago ($8) 4/5 This was the perfect dessert to top off the meal. The Mango and pomelo were so fresh and tasty. The mango had a good texture and was chewy and there was a faint hint of bitterness from the pomelo. The sago was soft and chewy and I really liked the coconutty, creamy taste. The sweetness was not overpowering and the cold from the dessert was like a break from the hot soup earlier.
We came here because we were in the mood for some noodles, but something different than what we usually get. I think Yu Noodles will be in our rotation of places to eat now. They have dishes, and it's not like it's a lot of noodles, but it's affordable and they also have different types of xiao long bao that keep it interesting. I do have to say that their XLB' wrapper is a bit thick, but I thought it wasn't bad considering that they offer it. I got the beef noodle, and I enjoyed it. I really don't have any negative side about it. This location is a neighborhood type of restaurant. It's right next to the apartments, and next to a Safeway. It literally has the building blocks of a neighborhood food spot and I like that. Come here if you live in the area. Get a nice hot bowl of soup and noodles and be satisfied!
The original Rockville location has been quietly earning its reputation, and the McLean outpost carries the torch without skipping a beat. For a self-proclaimed Chinese food snob, that kind of consistency across locations isn't just appreciated -- it's rare. This is the place I bring family and friends visiting from out of town when I need to guarantee both quality and a good time. No hesitation, no asterisks. That's a short list. The menu hits two lanes perfectly: bold, soul-warming noodle soups and dry noodles loaded with zesty mix-ins that slap just as hard. The flounder with sour pickled cabbage noodle soup is the move if you want something that's simultaneously bright, funky, and deeply comforting. The spicy beef brisket in golden soup is pure richness -- the kind of broth you'd drink straight if no one was watching. On the dry noodle side, the Chongqing dry noodles bring the heat and the complexity you want from that style. Don't sleep on the small eats. The scallion pancakes and soup dumplings are legitimately all-star -- not afterthoughts, not filler. One pro tip: pay attention to the rotating specials once you've locked in your favorites. And you will have favorites. Probably after visit one. Casual setting, family-friendly vibe, top-tier food. Yu Noodle earns a permanent spot on the short list.
THE BIG: Located in Tysons Corner, tucked away in the shopping center with a Safeway right off of Anderson Rd. Plenty of seating inside and parking lot available with plenty of space. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wfie and I came here with a couple of friends to soak up some noodles and dumplings. Ordering was fast and getting our food was ultra fast. I think they have a good system h ere. We got the Spicy oil wontons, pan fried pork bun, pork soup dumpling, peppercorn spicy soup dumpling, shrim & pork dumpling, yibin noodle, porkchop over rice, and beef noodle soup. Tbh everything was pretty good, didn't have any faults with the items. Kudos for extra speed. THE FINAL BAMBOO: The damage done here was around $126 for everything. Pretty great for very fast service and delicioius noods on a brisk fall evening.
Walked here from my hotel around the corner. Our waitress was very nice and understanding as I didn't know what I wanted while my friend ordered their food. The cucumbers were delicious! My ramen (beef I believe) was piping hot and so flavorful. I chose to add chili oil myself to try and control the spice level. Worked out perfectly. I will definitely be returning when I'm in the area again.
I had the spicy wontons, scallion pancakes, and chicken soup dumplings. All was really good. I was a little surprised that there were so few soup dumpling options - 5 or so - given that they advertised as a soup dumpling restaurant. But they were super tasty. Lots of vegetarian options but no vegetarian soup dumplings fyi. The check comes with a sticker that they prefer cash tips and the server laid the check down and pointed to that. Strange. But I had cash and was happy to oblige since she made it awkward. Very tasty food - I'll be going back for sure.
Very quick service at Yu Noodles in Tysons! I came with 4 friends in a Sunday evening. There were only a few people in the restaurant. The servers quickly took our order and food came out FAST. I loved the spicy wontons and pan fried buns. I also thought the pork and peppercorn pork dumplings were delicious and full of flavor. I would skip on the pork and shrimp dumplings. The filling was overcooked and no soup inside. We also ordered a bunch of noodle dishes, but they weren't my favorite. Overall - great place for a quick bite!
Yu noodles is such a homey local mom and pop casual spot to go to. We got the: Crystal Shrimp dumplings Steamed Pork Buns Hot & Sour Foon Pork soup dumplings All of them were really good! You do need to ask for soy sauce if you need it, but they had black vinegar and other condiments on the table. Also, we liked the dim sum, but it's not going to match the profile of if you went to Hong Kong style dim sum because it is a different region of cuisine. Overall, great experience and loves at how fast and attentive the servers were. I will definitely be back, especially for those hot and sour noodles.
I had the sichuan beef noodles, which were delicious. If I could change anything, it would be to add more beef. But you can't argue at the amazing price point!
Somehow they seem to get better and better. I'm a big fan of their garlic cucumber appetizer and intestine soup. Beef tendon is a must. And even though pricey. Get and share the coconut sago dessert. Skip the soup dumpling.
Located in a pretty quiet shopping center it almost feels like finding a hidden gem. My cousin and I stopped by on a whim because we quickly browsed their menu online and saw that they had soup dumplings. Everything we ordered was actually fantastic. We got the plain pork soup dumplings, N5 Yibin Spicy Dry Noodle with minced pork, and spicy oil pork wontons. All the things we ordered were good in their own ways but they all had an immense amount of flavor. Anything labelled spicy was not actually too spicy and could be adjusted with the chili at the table. The Yibin spicy noodles are a pretty big portion that could be shared if you plan on getting a bunch of other appetizers. The ladies working here are friendly and service is fast.
Boo thang was having his dumpling cravings and I heard about this spot. They're invasively fast (not for sure if that is a good thing, but at least we got our food very fast lol). I love how the restaurant architecture fit the culture. We ordered a bunch of dumplings, side dishes of veggies. I believe the cravings were satisfied. I love how there is a variety to choose from and service was very quick. Will definitely come back!
I visited this fast causal location back in April of this year while on a business trip. Let's get to it, shall we? Steamed pork buns Steamed pork buns are a comforting and filling side dish/breakfast item that can be found in many Chinese bakeries next to the steamer. With its fluffy skin and delicious savory pork filling, each bun has the perfect balance of flavors. The ones served here are a true representation of of a perfect steamed bun. Each ingredient in these buns worked together in harmony, delivering tender baos with a subtly spiced filling. Minced Pork Over Rice With Fried Egg Taiwanese Minced Pork is ground pork that is gently cooked and simmered in Taiwanese flavors for a super simple, low carb meal. While minced pork rice is an important icon in typical Taiwanese folk cuisine, the variety of methods to customize flavors is so wide that it creates considerable differences between regions. The spices used in this dish were made with spices that were familiar to me, but not in way that I tasted previously. The flavor of the meat combined with the egg created a filling dish with a somewhat muted profile. Pan Fried Chive & Pork Dumplings These pork and chive dumplings (韭菜猪肉饺子) are classic Chinese dumplings filled with ground pork and Asian chives. The fillings were juicy and flavorful. Visited this spot a couple weeks ago for dinner with a friend. I was surprised how quickly this location opened once the former location closed. Parking is easy, in the Safeway parking lot. The restaurant was clean and bright. I was unsure what to order aside from the soup dumplings but we asked the waitress for recommendations when torn between items. We did order the pork soup dumplings and these were amazing. I loved the vinegar they came with and they came with a little ginger - I wish it was more. We were not feeling a big bowl of soup for as we had a couple drinks before at happy hour and didn't want anything too liquid-y. We got the sour and spicy cold noodles with beef. These were so good and flavorful (had one chili pepper for spice level on the menu but still had a kick). The next we ordered was the chickpea and minced pork noodles and wow, these were very delicious. I liked these more than the beef ones as the flavor was excellent, but be wary, they are hot! Service was quick and it was pretty cheap overall. My favorite was the dumplings and I'm looking forward to visiting once it's cold again in the fall to try their soups. read more

Finally a decent restaurant within walking distance. The prices are McLean like but the quality of the food is good. The service is good too! Spicy beef noodle soup, cucumbers with garlic sauce, all of the dumplings especially soup dumplings are excellent. The noodles are freshly made and taste like it. Nothing tastes frozen. The minced pork over rice was excellent. Wished the fried egg was runny though. The only dish IMO was meh was the QxongChing noodles. It was just noodles with spicy broths and peanuts. No salt or meat. We will be regular customers cause overall the food is really good & fresh. 5% discount if paying by cash! Cheers! read more

This is, as far as I can tell, an authentic Sichuan / Chongqing noodle house plus snacks. High on its menu, though probably not specific to Sichuan or Chongqing cuisine is soup dumplings (小籠包). I had the 1st noodle dish - Chongqing Noodles - really tasty and just the right amount of spiciness and chock full of peanuts. The noodles were cooked just right - it's not al dente spaghetti but had just the right amount of stickiness to catch a good amount of the red hot spicy broth that was piping hot. The portion of noodles was a bit small, and some of the add ons like scallions could have been a bit more generous. Both could have been supplemented with add-ons ($2 for more noodles). The soup dumplings (小籠包）- these were probably one of the best that I've had in the DMV area in a while - really juicy, really thin-skinned, really hot, and just the right amount of seasoning. Lots more to try in the menu - scallion pancakes, panfried dumplings (鍋貼）, spicy oil wontons (紅油抄手）. Ambiance is more than a basic Chinese restaurant with some thoughtfulness taken with decor. Definitely will be back for more. Really close to Tyson's Corner. Who would've thought that there would be a good Sichuan noodle shop in McLean??? Updated 5/18/23 - went back for 蔥油餅 (scallion pancake), 小籠包 (soup dumpling), 紅燒牛肉麵 (red hot beef noodle soup), 紅油炒手 (spicy oil wontons). Authentically tasty and spicy. 蔥油餅 (scallion pancake) was particularly good - light, airy, and super tasty - not like other places where they can be oily, drippy, and soggy. There are so many dishes to try at Yu Noodles. We stacked the steam baskets high and enjoyed every bite. Our first craving was for the soup dumplings and they didn't disappoint. There three kinds, pork, peppercorn spicy and shrimp and pork, that come in a rainbow of colors. After that came the steamed pork buns and then the sesame past noodles with minced pork which were also served in a colorful presentation from green edamame to orange carrot. The serving sizes were good and the food came quickly. For dessert, we had the mango and sticky rice which was refreshing. The restaurant does offer table service which is nice so you can stay seated and relaxed and enjoy your meal. Yu Noodles is decorated with colorful mural on one wall and the whole space is clean and airy. The restaurant is located in a newer strip center with plenty of convenient parking. We look forward to returning soon to try some of the other many noodle dishes, snacks and dumplings. read more

Tough this one. We went to Yu noodles one night because we were craving Chinese soup noodles and was considering heading out to Fairfax or going to A&J's for the 100th time before we found they opened a location in McLean. Everything was well seasoned and flavor and I'm pretty sure we'll be back for their noodles but I think that's it. First off the appetizers were so expensive. I think it was something $7 for a small plate of cold cucumbers which is kinda ridiculous. Even the soup dumplings. The flavor was good but 6 dumplings for $10.50 is also too expensive. Won't be getting these again and will stick to the freezer ones you can get from Eden center and steam at home. The noodles however were very good and we'll be back to try others. Hopefully the price of the other things come down (though highly doubt it) read more
New location nestled in a shopping center (next to Safeway) right in the center of McLean! I have not been to the other locations in NOVA but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food here. I highly recommend the Yibin Spicy Dry Noodles with Minced Pork and the chilly wontons. The inside was clean, modern, and the service was very quick. A great local spot for a casual lunch/dinner! read more

This place serves a different kind of noodle soup. Moreso northern China or Taiwanese. It's a lot heavier with spicy oils. Be aware to balance the heat with cool. Yin Yang balance is best. read more

I first went to this restaurant at the Rockville, MD, location two years ago and enjoyed the noodles so much I had to go again when I was back in the DMV area. The ingredients are simple yet so delicious and flavorful. I love a hot cup of tea with their noodles in scallion oil and chicken and panfried pork buns. My friend and I also tried their mango pomelo sago, which was not too sweet and the perfect way to end our meal. I highly recommend slurping some noodles at any Yu Noodles location. You will have a lovely meal in a clean place with very friendly staff and service. read more

Fantastic service, very swift and almost no wait time for my entree. I had N13 (Beef rice noodle in golden soup), as well as S11 (Crystal Shrimp Dumplings) and SD2 (Peppercorn Spicy Soup Dumplings). Incredible flavor, and all very affordable. Very relaxed, homey environment. Will be coming back! read more

The food was served quickly and was fairly priced. I ordered the yibin dry noodles and soup dumplings. The yibin noodle was flavorful and had the perfect level of spice. I wouldn't recommend the soup dumpling because it was lacking the soup part. I would come again to try other dishes on the menu. read more

It was already pretty good and my son loved stuffing his face with dumplings and vinegar. Texture of the noodles were great. pros: saturday noon - restaurant is busy and well-mannered. decor is very simple and welcoming. complimentary cucumber water is served this season. dishes are very fresh and light. all of us walked out happy, not too bloated to do some walking afterwards. other notes: several dishes could use more seasoning, but that is just preference based on the herndon and fairfax locations. that being said, mclean (this one) has dishes with a healthier, reduced salt taste -- so i don't feel as dehydrated or sluggish. my biggest gripe is that the soup dumplings (we ordered pork and shrimp) only had about a tablespoon of soup in them. sending out hope that next time my mouth will be properly drenched. read more

Yoooooo Yu Noodles slaps I'm mad I didn't come here earlier even though it's been on my list to try. We loved everything we got, my favorite were the soup dumplings, and the yibin spicy dry noodles. The service was good although at the beginning it's not clear if you should wait to be seated or order at the counter (you sit wherever you want and the servers will come to you). The restaurant is bright and clean. I can't wait to come back again (or order delivery) read more

Spicy, authentic, delicious, healthy! Yu has finally arrived in mclean. We have been to the Fairfax location over the years. It is such luxury to be 5 min away. Same menu, same friendly service but so much more room in the seating area. It could me my imagination but McLean seems to be spicier than Fairfax. I can't wait to try the rest of the dishes at this location. read more
