I love the food especially the poke bowls and I love the people. I feel like I am eating local in the hospital.

Boooy did we underestimate the portion sizes of their sushi special rolls…read more A friend was visiting from out of town and we wanted to get sushi. Shoyou seemed to have good reviews so we walked in without reservations. Looking at the menu we thought oh the three of us can easily demolish 2 regular maki rolls and maybe 3 special rolls. Nope. We had so much leftovers! And everything tasted so good! Its aptly priced. If you are getting a special roll it will be at least 4 to 8 pieces depending on what you get. My favorite of the special rolls was actually the spider roll which was made with softshell crab(and not pictured as it was promptly devoured) Would recommend if you're in the Baltimore area and want to support a local restaurant in a nice neighborhood. Don't fall for Azumi hype when places like this exist.

I also noticed they did the same for other tables, which really shows how much they care about the experience. I ordered four pieces in order from left to right: the maguro, albacore, sea bream, and toro. The maguro truly melted in my mouth. The albacore was delicious with a surprisingly generous portion. The sea bream was probably my least favorite of the lineup but still very good. The toro was easily my personal favorite, and I could have eaten 100 of those. Each order comes with two pieces which made trying different options even better. I also got the baked mussels and wowowowow they were so good. I genuinely wanted to order another round but I was already full. This is the closest spot I have found to an omakase style experience without actually doing a full omakase. It has more flavor, great presentation, and a little extra dazzle instead of just plain fish on rice. The only downside was that parking was a bit tough, but it was absolutely worth it for the quality of the meal. Highly recommend!

So very underrated…read more Nestled between the Thai restaurant (also a fave of mine) and another spot on Light street, it's super easy to walk past if you don't know they're there. But they are, and they represent sushi oh so powerfully well! From service to food presentation to the food itself. Lawd the food! 100 out of 100! They also carry beverages which you can choose from the glass door refrigerator at the back. Bottles available. Wink. The spot isn't posh by any means. You walk in, and the Server will smile and nod that you can seat yourself. What they don't have in terms of fancy they sure do make up for it with everything else. Super, super reasonably priced. Clean, pretty restaurant, fresh food and delightful staff. Staff, Eswuin the young Server is one of the best I've come across. He reads his customers well. He knows exactly when to approach and when to leave well alone. He knows when you're in need of a little extra love and when you just wanna chill with hardly any words. And get this! He's the ONLY SERVER! It has never been to capacity on any of my visits, but I've seen him handle more than four tables, delivery orders (and you know DEM DRIVERS can get impatient) and walk in 2Go customers like a true champ! His energy is so sweet. So too the Chef and BOH staff I've run into, but Eswuin is THAT GUY! Please, when you visit, tip him well. You'll absolutely experience how deserving he is. Since coming to B-More I've had the pleasure of discovering many amazing spots and I'm so happy Kiku Sushi is one of them. I think this is around my one-year anniversary of coming to this sushi restaurant. I'm embarrassed I'm only now reviewing them. Hey Eswuin! The End.

The servings are pretty sizeable - they really love putting their sushi platters in a boat which seems appropriately sized. It all makes for a great date night or small group dinner. It is staple in Fells Point being open for a couple of decades so the people sure do believe in this place. I thought the cuts of fish were very generous and tasty, but I was a little disappointed in the sushi rice. I found it a bit mushy and not seasoned properly. We mainly ordered sashimi or rice-less dishes. The cucumber salad was just that - rounds of cucumber. We got this with Crab Meat, but there didn't seem to be any dressing on it so it was fairly plain. I enjoyed the Sashimi Roll - they are large pieces that will stretch the average mouth to fit. We got a side of spicy mayo and found it more sweet than spicy. I appreciated that the Sushi & Sashimi plate came with small seaweed salad. All in all a great spot I would frequent if I lived in Baltimore - you really can't beat the location that enhances the dining experience.

They do have a happy hour on Monday to Friday from 4 PM to 6:30 PM. This includes certain rolls and appetizers, beer, wine, and cocktails. I had the lychee Saketini (HH $8), and it definitely had lychee flavor. It was a little lighter on the alcohol though. I also had a 22 oz. can of Sapporo premium beer, which was also on happy hour for $7.50. Both the bagel roll and California roll were $6 on happy hour as well. I highly recommend the Volcano Roll (HH $12), which had 6 pieces of salmon and tuna top with a spicy mayo and eel sauce. We initially sat outside, but once it started raining, they helped us bring everything inside. The hostess was very kind and our server was excellent. In terms of the ambiance, there is not much indoor and outdoor seating. It seems like they mainly do take out. Also, street parking can be limited.
