It was a very positive experience and I felt that my car was in good hands. My car repair wasn't the easiest or quickest fix, but the mechanics at Sun Devil were able to get my car back on the road. I was ready to call it quits on my car and just start looking for another one. I hadn't had any luck getting my car repaired properly at my previous visits to other mechanics, but I'm glad I tried this repair shop. I have been to a lot of mechanics over the past several years and have had quite a bit of work done on my car. I can honestly say I didn't have much trust in any mechanic up until this time. This business has now become my go to mechanic. One last thing, after I got my car back and had it running for a day, the manager called me to check on how the car was running!! Incredible! I was blown away!

The problem I have is very common issue with jeep compasses: parasitic electrical draw (electronics not turning off when they should). I told sun devil employees that I'm bringing it to them because I'm tired of replacing batteries and want to get to the root of the issue, and they assured me they would fix it. Lo and behold, they call me and tell me the battery is the issue, it's not holding the charge. I told them the battery is like that due to the parasitic draw and if they just replace the battery it's just going to kill another battery. Their response was "well we warranty our work so just bring it back". So here I am, battery is dead again (5th battery btw) and I had to get my car towed to sun devil this morning. They have had my car for several hours now and I called to ask them if they are going to file a claim with my warranty company so that I can have a rental car in order to be able to go to work. Louie or however you spell his name had an attitude and treated me like I was unreasonable to ask if they're going to keep it overnight that they file a claim today so that I can have transportation, seems reasonable to me ESPECIALLY since it's coming back a mere few months later for the same exact issue! And ESPECIALLY since I tried to tell them replacing the battery will not fix the issue. He said something along the lines the lines of "well we haven't looked at it yet and things take time" seems to me like 6 hours is plenty of time to verify that the battery is dead. His response was to pick my car if I don't want them to look at it. I repeatedly asked him if he could at least give me an estimate of when they would be able to file the claim and he just kept saying he didn't know maybe tomorrow. Horrible service and ethics. These people do shoddy work, get people to buy parts and get you in and out, and claim if the customer has any issues they will fix it under warranty. What they don't tell you is they will put your warranty work on the back burner while they do all the customer pay work first because they want the money in hand now, versus spending time to fix their mistakes.

A mechanic needs to be trustworthy, communicative, and very good at his job - the family's safety literally rides on it. Before I saw the glowing recommendations for Pablo I had gotten the numbers of a few other mechanics but was disappointed at every turn. When I got Pablo's number, to my delight he very quickly returned my text and we arranged for him to come out and do a thorough inspection our family car. Why 'delight'? Because 4 other mechanics I had contacted either never replied or just stopped texting in the middle of a conversation or didn't speak English. Like, seriously??! These other mechanics never apologized for stopping a chat in the middle, or just said "sorry was at a job" and then never talked again. They didn't seem to care at all. I don't know if other mechanics are sitting on a high horse due to their demand or have such atrocious communication skills for other reasons. But I'm super happy that Pablo actually cares and has the necessary communication skills to make this a smooth experience. So anyway, Pablo and I arranged for a day and time for him to come out to us, gave a quote for cost and then *GASP!* he actually did what he said he would do. He came out at the time arranged and he did a very thorough job including taking photos (!) of everything. This wasn't a "I'm the pro, you just shut up and pay me" kind of thing - he explained everything in detail. Most thorough inspection I've ever had and he did it at my garage. The convenience of that can't be overstated. He charged exactly the amount he said he would, no BS surprise charges. He explained everything, never made us feel dumb for asking questions, and never tried to upsell thing. The overall experience was so excellent that since then I've hired Pablo to be our family's exclusive mechanic for everything: he's since installed 4 new brake rotors and breaks (perfect!), new fog lights, oil change, brake fluid flush, new battery, and a bunch of other things I don't remember. The car is now in the best possible condition and the cost was less than a 3rd of what BMW Service wanted to charge - and I didn't have to drive to a service center on the other side of town. Pablo came to us. He uses advanced diagnostic tools and in combination with his vast experience he can do just about everything imaginable, from fixing and upgrading anything, complete overhauls, to clearing out those annoying codes. He just does it all and that's really awesome. I'll continue to put my family's safety in his hands because I'm so pleased with his work, thoroughness and communication that I'm not interested in dealing with any other mobile mechanic.

However, I am very disappointed with the level of expertise and outcome of the visit. My 2014 Jeep compass has had the check engine light on for a week, steering locked up last week, and has had delayed clicking start. Justin arrived, I gave him the full history of my vehicle (no problems for 10 years) and the issues occurring the last month or so which prompted the call. He started running tests, even drove the car around to see if he could replicate what I had been experiencing. About 30 minutes into the visit he said he couldn't replicate any of the issues; that's okay, as I mentioned it only happened about 50% of the time. But he sat in my car another 20-30 minutes or so, told me he had to call his boss because he was completely stumped. Not really what you want to hear, but even I started making suggestions of what it could be so he could at least do something for me. At the end of the visit he basically just said "sorry I have no idea what's wrong, maybe replace your battery?"... the only thing he found was a sensor on my engine needed replacement, but it's totally unrelated to the other issues. I ended up having to pay $150 for literally no better idea what's wrong with my car and not feeling any safer to drive it. It was a huge waste of my time and now I'm out $150, and I still had to take it to another shop that already figured out the problem not even 24 hours later. Save yourself some money and go to a real auto shop. I understand that some technicians may be learning or lack the knowledge to dive deeper, but someone should be going with them to assist so your customers aren't left feeling robbed and confused.

AVOID EARNHARDT HONDA DEALERSHIP: BOTH SALES AND SERVICE My…read morewife and I purchased a 2026 Honda Odyssey here just a few months back. One of the advertised perks of buying at this dealership was free oil changes up to 12,000 miles. The sales rep that worked with me, friendly enough (of course, he wanted to make a sale), stated that the first oil change is typically recommended at 6,000 miles. Having just reached 6000 on the odometer, I cut some time out of my week and stopped by the Earnhardt Honda service department this morning to get that first oil change done. The service rep, Jerry Morris, stated to me emphatically that doing the oil change for free was impossible, because the Odyssey's Oil Life Indicator stated that the oil has 50% life remaining. He then stated that they wouldn't do a free oil change unless they saw the Oil Life Indicator at 15% or below! I stated that 6000 miles was, if anything, a little late for the first oil change; but he wouldn't budge. I then learned that many mechanics recommend doing the first oil change no later than 3000 miles--in order to replace the break-in oil (which is not full-synthetic) with full-synthetic oil that is made endure five to six thousand miles in between changes. The fact is that the Oil Life Indicator is based on mileage, and nothing else. The indication of 50% of life remaining after 6k miles driven is nothing but an anomalous glitch that is completely unrelated to the actual quality of the break-in oil. I pulled up my big-boy pants and decided that I could pay for the oil change out of my own pocket. It's just an oil change; not a lot of money by any measure. But how will the same dealership react when it's something serious and much more costly down the road? Jerry Morris from the Earnhardt Honda service department actually did me a favor: his adamant refusal to honor the dealer's commitment reminded me of a quotation from Maya Angelou: "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." I will never do business with Earnhardt Honda again; no service, and no future purchases. In fact, when I called Germain Honda of Surprise to set up that first oil change, I told them the story, ready to pay up for the oil change myself, but they insisted that they would take it upon themselves to do that first oil change; gratis. That makes it very easy to decide where to bring that vehicle for service in the future, and where to go when we are ready to make our next purchase!
