!!Long read but very detailed!! To start off, if you are staying in Boston for a business trip and you'll only be here a day or 2, I'd recommend. If you are staying in Boston on a vacation/longer stay, I would NOT recommend. I stayed here for 4 nights over 4th of July weekend and although it's in the perfect area for visiting the city, it's not what I was expecting. This is my first time visiting Boston and I love Boston, it's beautiful, but next time I'm staying somewhere with a lot of more space and accommodations. The rooms were tiny, if it's just 1 person staying in a room then okay it would suit you, but it was my fiancé and I and there was 1 teeny tiny spot for your 1 suitcase. It was congested. The bathroom, this may be a little tmi but my fiancé likes his privacy when he's doing his business on the toilet, and there's no privacy whatsoever, no ventilation, just a clear door and echos. When you are going out to eat and you get full, you like to take home leftovers, right? Well when I complained to the front desk about not having a mini fridge or a microwave, they offered to store food for us at the front desk. I'm sorry but I don't trust people with my food, whether they're professional or not, I do not care, I'm not keeping my food at the hotel front desk? It just doesn't make sense! They said they could give me a mini fridge but it wouldn't be big enough to hold leftovers (so what's the point?) and also, where would we put any kind of mini fridge in this tiny room!?! Also, this is where "reading the fine print" comes to play. I booked my reservation through the hopper app. Whenever I booked it, it gave me a set price of around $843. Okay fine, no big deal it's Boston, I planned to spend some money on my stay. But what it didn't show me, unless I really did some research to find it, that there's a "resort fee" of roughly $52 a night for the "accommodations". What are the accommodations? The robot? The restaurants? There was NO pool? That's just a little ridiculous if you ask me to have to pay for things like that when if I was to use the robot or restaurant I'm paying for the items that I'm getting?! So when I checked in they had to charge me another $609 that they said $400 of it would come back to me, it kept a hold on my card pretty much the whole stay. That was a lot of my vacation money so I was limited due to this. So they charged me $1000 for this little room with nothing but a bed that reclines (yippee!) to make more room, which wasn't much more, just a little bit of walking space... All in all, I'm just very disappointed with Yotel. It looked great on the listing but wasn't up to the standards a normal hotel should have. Our flight had got canceled so we stayed in a holiday inn and its had everything and more that was needed for the same price. I had a nice stay at the Yotel Boston! I appreciated the quick kiosk check in option. My room was clean with a very interesting adjustable bed. I think to make the room bigger the bed moves and folds upwards (almost like hospital beds). Mattress and pillow were pretty standard. I loved the LED lights with all the color options! Good amount of storage space for the size of the room. Standard amenities all present. Some of my devices connected to wifi on the first time without any issues while others needed several tries; however once I got connected, I didnt have any issues. Some staff members were very friendly while others were more neutral although polite. I believe valet parking is available. I stayed here from Monday till Thursday and it was very nice I picked it because it was close to the South station and and the major transit lines. I walked in in the front desk said my room was ready earlier then they said on the website which is always nice. I went into this knowing the rooms were very small but I was going to spend most of my time exploring the city so I didn't need a big room and in the end it's actually was perfect. The room was very clean I love the color changing lights around the TV there was more than enough electric outlets for me. The bed was very comfortable And it was adjustable and in my opinion one of the most soundproof hotels I have ever stayed in because if there was other people on my floor I didn't hear them coming and going like I do at other hotels. The only loud thing was the air conditioner unit But I got used to that after the second night. Stayed here for a work conference. No face to face interaction when you're checking in. Super cool concept. The keycard can be finicky but it never kept me stranded just took me a few tries to work. Rooms are tiny but I enjoyed my stay here. It was just me and my toddler so we had enough space, but you literally have to put the bed in the upright couch position (yes the beds move) in order to have ample space to get your suitcases in and walk around to the bathroom. I love that the room is updated and modern. The shower is strong and hot! There's not much space to put your toiletries bag though. I would have felt cramped here if my husband was on the trip. The rooms are so small that you have to use the desk as a dresser to hold your clothes, fyi. I still give this hotel 5 stars though because of its awesome location (trader joe's is right next door) and the seaport area is super nice and safe. Additionally, I appreciated how nice the staff was. They let me check in at 7am since I got in on a red eye, and waived the $100 early check in fee for me. The check in/ out was super simple. You can use a kiosk to get room key and check in quick. I saw a sign for valet parking which was $80 a night. The subway train stop in nearly next to the building and a convenient one stop away from the seaport train station. This stay is ok if you're a single traveler. The space is comfortable for one person in a regular room. There is no fridge/ no coffee maker/ no microwave. Room has minimal hangers for clothes hanging/ storage. The bed in the room was comfortable and although it reclined to make more space in the room it was comfortable to sit on the bed. The bath towel heater above the toilet was nice but didn't make sense location wise... you have to exit the shower and go around the wall to the toilet side to get the warm towel.. Be careful with the shower attachment- if it faces the door then the water sprays through the crack and gets the floor all wet. I had ONE beer at the bar and was charged $17.50!! And I had tipped the bartender $2 so in total it's RIDICULOUS that I was charged 19.50 for one regular sized draft beer. I was also charged $5 for water?? I wouldn't stay here again. read more

I originally was worried about this place after seeing reviews. I've noticed that Yelp doesn't do hotels particularly well mostly because guests can have super different experiences based on luck and situation. I was here for a convention alone so this room did the trick. You see it everywhere that the rooms are small. Yes and that's the point. It was just me and it worked out just fine. The only drawback was that there were a bunch of hidden switches and buttons so it took me a couple of days to get the hang of it. They did housekeeping everyday which was kind of nice! The vibe of this place was pretty sweet and slick. The service at the front desk was excellent and its location cannot be beat. YOTEL seems to be geared more toward a techie traveler. No amenities such as a microwave or coffee so we had to get out every morning before showers etc to walk a couple of blocks for coffee. We stayed here for one night and overall it was a good experience. The hotel and the rooms were tight, which we expected, and very clean. The rooms do not have any seating besides the bed(s). The air conditioning in the room was great and the beds were comfortable. We asked the front desk for an extra blanket to which they said someone would deliver it right away, but never got it. The location was great and very walkable to many spots for food, coffee, etc. I would recommend staying here for a night or two, but beyond that, would recommend finding somewhere with a little more space for a longer stay. read more

Stayed here for a weekend with my boyfriend. The room itself was nice and the staff seemed friendly at first--but the way they handle money is beyond frustrating. We were never informed at booking about a $100 incidental hold. No mention online, no heads up--nothing. We paid it without issue when we arrived and were told it would be returned to our card within 2-5 business days. That didn't happen. After 5 business days passed with no refund, I called and was suddenly told it actually takes 7-10 business days. Fine--would've been nice to know that upfront, but okay. Now it's been 11 business days (not including weekends), and we still haven't received our money. I called again and was basically brushed off and told there's "nothing they can do" because their system claims it was already sent back--so now it's supposedly a bank issue. I contacted my bank, and surprise: no refund was ever processed. I've now had to file a claim just to try and get MY own money back, and who knows how long that'll take or if we'll even see it. This whole situation is completely unacceptable. If we had known it would turn into this much of a hassle just to get our deposit back, we would have booked somewhere else without hesitation. This is a great hotel for a visit to Boston. It is located next to the Courthouse Station, and if you want to walk about 15 minutes, you can access more transit lines at South Station without having to transfer. There's a restaurant on the first floor, and several restaurants are located near the hotel. There's a Trader Joe's right around the corner and a CVS about a block away. Yotel is in a convenient location. The hotel room is clean and compact. The bed must be extended by pressing a button to move the bed from a sitting position. There is an abundant amount of USB outlets. A folding chair is provided, and there's a slide-out desktop for your computer. There are built-in areas around the TV for putting your things and more charging outlets. One drawback is that there's no door between the sleeping area and the bathroom. There's only a curtain that still lets light and noise into the sleeping area. The bathroom has a towel warmer. A hairdryer, iron, and ironing board are supplied. read more

But sadly, that experience did not align with the poor and insensitive restaurant management--over something as simple as a small part of a meal that just wasn't right, or maybe had been sitting out too long. It happens. I get it. To be fair, Tara and the breakfast / lunch crew--excellent work. First off, thank you to YOTEL management--especially Anthony Bianchi-Coppola and Brandon Lee --for taking the time to call and follow up in a timely, professional, and patient manner. You and your front staff proved that guest experience matters. You made sure I was heard, and you were extremely accommodating in finding a resolution. Bravo. Now, to VELA. This is directly addressed to Peter Pelis, the F&B manager, whose response was honestly disappointing. 1 First, I was accused of claiming 'food poisoning'--which I never once said. That term was never used. Yet the accusation continued, paired with evasive and inappropriate personal questions that had nothing to do with the matter at hand. 2 The call started with a negative tone, lacking any sense of understanding or concern. That only escalated the situation. I had to end the conversation myself because of the condescending and dismissive treatment I received. 3 My initial call to the restaurant line was around 8:30 PM--multiple attempts, with no response. I left my contact info and my room number. It wasn't until after midnight--when hotel management got involved--that my concern was even acknowledged. Let me be clear: at no point did I ever ask for money back, compensation, or anything complimentary. My only intention was to make the chef aware of that specific meal item--out of respect and concern for other guests. That's it. I was not given the chance to express that. There was no apology for the experience or the delayed follow-up. VELA--you can do better. Take this as an opportunity to ensure that anyone managing your guest experience understands patience, empathy, and the ability to de-escalate, rather than inflame, a situation meant to be constructive. YOTEL--I'll be back. VELA--I'm sorry one person had to ruin what was otherwise a great day and a great stay. read more

Yotel was always on the list of fun hotels I would like to stay at. So when I knew I was visiting Boston, I also knew this is where I wanted to stay. I booked before the holidays; and for staying during a holiday weekend, the price was extremely reasonable. This is in no way a 5 star hotel. But I definitely give them four stars. They rooms are the bare minimum but are extremely pleasing. They offer beds that incline, so great for sitting in the bed to watch tv. No robes or bath tub but the monsoon showers were very lovely as well as the towel warmers that are not so strategically placed (in the closet toilet). Mood lighting was awesome and turned off when no movement is detected after a while One minor detail that turned me off was when we ordered water bottles to our room that never arrived, so poor communication I'm assuming. Also the room lacked a mini fridge for keeping my food and drinks cold. No safe either??!!! We were able to drop off our bags since we arrived extra early and they allowed me to check in about an hour earlier and check out an hour later. There is no room service and the bar is extremely overpriced. Throughout everything though, I give it 4 stars. We were upgraded for free to a higher floor, maids did a nice job at cleaning our room and the bottom floor restaurant/bar were pretty good. I would stay back here again but probably not for a long time. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel is in a great location. Room was clean and AC was very efficient. The room is very small with no seating area. The lighting is a little unconventional/youthful (main source is from a led strip around the television), but it was a leisure trip and not a concern. Not a bad option for a quick trip. My concern is that it appears as though the carpets in our room were growing mold on our third night just beneath the AC unit in the wall. We decided to have a staycation and chose to explore Yotel and booked reservations at their two restaurants (Deck 12 and Vela, reviewed separately). I believe they were going through some renovations of their programs, since a lot of things were unfortunately broken and felt like they weren't thought out through. When arriving, it was easy to check in by ourselves at their tablets and get our room keys. Our room was cute and everything was flight themed! We were expecting to make full use of all their cool perks listed on the website. Unfortunately, many of them ended up being broken. We weren't able to use the chromecast in the room and the phone to call the concierge and HDMI ports were also broken. We had to make many trips up and down from our room to get the issues resolved since the phone wasn't working at first. The other thing that stood out was their cleaning staff was unaware of when the guests were checking out. We had a cleaning staff come knock on our door twice, asking us when we were leaving/checking out, even though we were checking out the next day. It kind of threw us into a panic, thinking we booked the wrong number of nights and woke us up in the morning. They also have a robot, YO2D2 that can deliver food to your room! Booked for a couple nights before a cruise. Love the location! Right in the Seaport, walk to everywhere. We even walked to Quincy Market and the aquarium. A mile from the cruise port. There is a great brewery, Trillium next door with great beer and food. A CVS and Trader Joe's close too! The room was so small but comfortable. The bed has a remote and turns into like a couch. There was a tv across from the bed and some cool backlighting. You could pick the color. The toilet and shower each had their own glass enclosures. We called them the cubes! There were no shelves in the bathroom but we were only there for a couple days so it was ok. We had a gorgeous view of the area out our window. Room was very quiet. The staff was super nice. I wish they offered free coffee later than 5:30-6:30 am though. We had a comforter and a sheet and asked for a blanket as the comforter was too much. They didn't have any available. We managed! NOT worth the price for a hotel room here. The location is great yes, it's right on Seaport Blvd, in the middle of everything, but the room is SMALL. So small that they fold up the bed (against the wall) when not in use. In addition to a small room, the bathroom makes for an awkward situation. The door to the shower and the door to the toilet are see-through, and there is a curtain to pull across them. Room service did not service our room during our stay, despite leaving the "GO" sign on the door. The one pro to this hotel, in addition to the prime location, is there is a wonderful rooftop restaurant. Food and views here are great (see separate review for that). The restaurant downstairs near the lobby has weird hours, and is closed on Sundays. Very unimpressed with this hotel, would not recommend it. read more

Absolutely everything, from the images that are Shared on the booking website it is beyond deceiving on what your getting they should have the exact square footage of the rooms. There so small and the price is ridiculous for what you get. No fridge no microwave you open the door and walk right into the bed. I figured since I'm paying well over $2000 to stay here that at least I would have to worry about packing soap, I was wrong it feels worse than hand soap used at public parks. We called when we land to ask the best form of transportation and apparently we were bothering someone for asking questions, her answer was just take an uber, then to find out we could of taken the silver line for free. I really enjoyed the location of this hotel, close to transit lines and walking distance to restaurants. The rooms are smaller, but they make great use of the space. My biggest gripe is that the showers leaked along the door and flooded our floor. One towel allowed us to clean it up, but it was a real pain to avoid the water. Loved staying at this hotel! Only one star less because of a lack of microwave and refrigerator. The staff were nice, helpful, and responsive. They also allow you to store luggage free of charge on the first floor which was a great addition. The decor was nice, though the window blinds seemed harder to use and a little ripped, the view from my room was nice (you can people watch the folks staying a few floors above Shake Shack across the street). The shampoo and conditioner and lotion looked hip, and it was nice to have a pull out stool in the shower along with the option to go handheld. The beds are really soft with plenty of pillows, I was a little confused at first at what was a blanket cover since everything is white. The TV is to easy to use with lights that can change color (you can see purple in the background). There's a cool bar, coffee bar by the lobby waiting area and little workspace folks can use as a charge station, a must that every hotel must have, I found to be useful and a nice touch. In terms of location, there are lots of restaurants and stores are nearby (CVS, Trader Joe's, Asian, Mexican food restaurants and shopping center stores). Happy to stay somewhere like this in the future, I only wish there was a little more room for a desk and closet space (outside of my finding it puzzling there was no microwave or refrigerator, even a mini one). I booked on Yotel's website four weeks ahead of our stay and our room was $258, w taxes and fees totaling to $324 ROOMS: 3/5 - my partner is on crutches so we booked a Premium Queen Accessible room. The unit was a tad larger than regular rooms and the bathroom had railings and a folding bench in the shower. What didn't seem accessible, though, was that the room was the actual furthest from the elevator and the TV wasn't placed across from the bed but next to it, so we craned our necks. Thought these elements were poorly designed. Otherwise, the reclining SmartBed was great and the purple lights bordering the TV gave a hip touch. I don't think the heated towel holder worked in our bathroom, so that would've been nice LOCATION: 5/5 - right in the heart of Seaport w access to all of the area's offerings, including the seasonal Holiday Market at Snowport and our usual highlights: The Current, Shake Shack, Taiyaki, Trader Joe's, Trillium, and Everlane. We parked at 101 Seaport garage, which connects to the PWC building, and paid their $20 weekend rate, instead of paying Yotel's $55 valet rate CLEANLINESS: 4/5 - didn't notice anything amiss, our room was in good condition SERVICE: 4/5 - I appreciated the contact-less check-in using the self-service station. The Yotel is right near stores, restaurants, and even Trader Joe's. 2. Comfortable bed Cons: 1. No amenities 2. Weird lighting 3. Very small rooms 4. Itty bitty low frills Euro style hotel in the middle of Boston's Seaport village. If you are a sturdy European traveler-you'll appreciate the efficiency. If you are American, you are going to hate the room size. Booking was simple, check in was completely contactless - just plug in your confirmation and go! There is also a very friendly staff on hand if you need to go the old fashioned route to check in. The staff was wonderful. Even though I checked in remotely, they always greeted me on the way and out. In fact, my friend left their bag on the elevator-and the staff tracked down the owner - just because they recognized me. For my last night in town, my friend booked me a hotel room at YOTEL. I can't really complain because I did not have to pay for it. This hotel is very European in that the rooms are quite tiny and contain the bare essentials. But for one night in town, and just a place to lay my head to sleep, it sufficed. It was walking distance from the silver line so that I could easily catch public transportation to the airport in the morning. Located in the Seaport District, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and options for coffee. It's walking distance from the financial District and the convention center. But if you are planning an extended stay in Boston, I would not recommend this hotel. read more

We enjoyed our recent stay at YOTEL and would not hesitate to stay again. We were not surprised by the small room size as we had looked online before booking. The rooms are about half the size of many hotel rooms and also much less expensive than other hotels in the area. Very clean, very comfortable bed, very fresh and new, very compact, great location. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the area, half a mile walk to the large South Station on the T, walking distance to Boston Tea Party Museum and the hop on hop off bus. Bathroom is funky in that there is no actual door to the overall bathroom space: there is a floor to ceiling drape that can be drawn across the overall bathroom space for privacy. Both the toilet and the shower are enclosed in individual glass booths with closing glass doors. That took a day to get used to, but it was fine. The only chair in the room is one folding chair, so not a place to hang out but a great place to sleep. The only thing that would make this room better would be a comfy chair. For the price and the location this is just right for us. If you want to pay double and have a larger room plenty of those hotels exist. read more

Rooms are tiny and the beds are so small that I could not sleep. Our room was 2 floors above the street and it was noisy all night with loud cars revving their engines until 2 Am in the morning. This was the cheapest hotel in the area, but it is still expensive. I ate in their main floor restaurant and paid over $70 for 2 breakfasts. Each had 2 eggs, a couple pieces of bacon, and a small triangle shaped fried hashbrowns. Oh, it did come with toast too. You cannot access the elevator unless you use the security key card reader every time. That was so annoying. I had problems getting my key card to work, and had to complain about it twice. There is some complimentary coffee, but that is only available a couple of hours in the morning, if you get up late, you lose out. If you are looking for coffee, go to the bagel shop down the street. Best bagel sandwich I ever had, and reasonable prices. There is a coffee shop next door as well, not a bad price for Boston. Do not by any means order pizza to be delivered to the hotel, big mistake. read more

Was visiting Boston for a conference. Love Boston, not a fan of the hotel room I stayed in. First, the roof top bar and atmosphere were great. Absolutely stunning. Incredible views. The room on the other hand, felt like I was on a cruise ship. Compact and tight in the room. If you are staying there and plan to do some work at a desk, don't expect it. Go to lobby to make your life easier. They had to move me to a different room as the other room was smaller than the original room I was in. Go figure. read more

Stayed here for a few days. Check in easy and quick. I also prepaid. Need your room card to access floors except the Penthouse where the rooftop bar/ restaurant called Deck 12. You need reservations even if you are staying there. I checked out the view but did not eat or drink. No bar seating. There is a lobby bar/restaurant area- for breakfast. It's ok - but pricey. Room was small and minimalistic... but ok for me. Too small for more in my opinion. Room was clean. So was bathroom. Monsoon shower head nice. And good water pressure The head of bed is set at incline when you come in to make more room and a button straightens it out. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Love the TV and the room lighting. Purple is lovely. But found out you can change the color to whatever you like :) Towel warmer , iron and hair dryer The bathroom light is great for putting makeup on etc. Great location. Safe walking around- lots of stores, bars and restaurants in the area. Groceries and other needs- CVS, Trader Joe's within a block if you need things. Breakfast- downstairs in lobby or Better bagels a block away Ice cream - Ben and Jerry's Rooftop views - floor 12 which is the bar/ restaurant Or walk a few blocks to the envoy hotels rooftop called lookout rooftop - good ambience, view and cocktails :) Restaurants- many to chose from - I ate seafood at Row 34. Pretty good New England clam chowder and oysters :) . The lookout rooftop at the envoy is a block away and nice to visit for a drink and a view. Not far from north end or the airport. read more
