Did a great job with the initial install of our roof. It was a complete tear off and they were neat and cleaned up after each day. One of the only times we had a job done with no issues. Very pleased with the install and follow up. We have a very tall home and we are in a high wind area. We had an issue with the winds removing some shingles during one of our many wind storms in the area and they were quick to respond to our request for repair. No complaints. Yorkstate replaced my roof after the record wind storm had torn off a large portion of it. There were three layers of asphalt and a layer of cedar. The roof was very large, high and steep. The crew worked from sunrise to dark. They had to tear it off to the slat boards. On the first day that had one side torn off, plywood down and tar paper down. They also had a tarp over the peak. The foreman of the crew kept in communication with me. After the tear off the attics had to be cleaned. They did a very good clean up job. Anyone familiar with a cedar tear-off, knows it's a very messy job. They also did a very good job on the yard. Neighbors commented on how hard the crew worked. Their price was very good and they delivered on the agreed upon scope. There was one small addition to the price that was beyond their control due to so many layers. Some aluminum trim had to be replaced up to each peak. The additional cost I felt was very reasonable. Plus, it was very high up!! They were up front about any unforeseen issues in the contract. In addition I paid half down when the materials were dropped off and the work began. You have the leverage not pay the balance until you feel the job is completed to your satisfaction. That is one of the reasons I hired them. The roof was completed and the foreman told me they just needed the trim guy to come to complete the job. When they came I inspected the work after. I met the foreman the next day and gave him the final payment. Everything went very smoothly. read more

Review for YorkState Roofing 7 Stars out of 10 I had my roof done June 2017. I will not use names but i will use the first initial of who I communicated with, they will know who they are. I called the roofing company because of a good review from a friend. They were pleasant and Mr J showed up when he had scheduled his appointment. He had a excellent presentation, product and price. I needed 2 new bathroom roof vents installed to help correct a moisture problem in the attic. We had installed two new fans and offered to attach the vents and leave them in the attic for the crew to attach to the roof. Mr J said to return the vents we bought as he already has them and his crew will do the installation and attachments. Mr J advised me that Mr D, the foreman, will come with his crew, collect the money for payment and advise the crew what needs to be done. The crew arrived on the scheduled day early, Mr D was there for collection of the money. Mr D left and the crew stayed until dark. They were hard working, and knew their job. We had the wood removed from the roof and replaced so the yard looked like a controlled explosion occurred. The crew could not do a good clean up because of it being dark outside. Mr D came the next day to pick up the rest of the money for the job. I asked if the yard will be cleaned up today....he stayed to clean up the yard. I helped. After 45 minutes I discharged him and let him go. I continued to look for nails because they were all over. Here is the bad part. Only one person on the crew could speak english. Mr D did not tell the crew about needing to install the roof vents. The vents were at the site. My husband was able to finally communicated that the vents were needed and where they go. We asked several times if the vents were installed and were told yes. The next day I asked Mr D to ask the workers if the vents were attached........Mr D said he asked the workers he said "They reached their hand through the hole and attached the ducts to the fans." That was a red flag. My husband crawled into the attic and found the ducts hanging unattached. We paid them thousands of dollars and they could not finish this small part of the job. The workers lied, this is sneaky....just tell the truth and correct it. What if we could not check on this. Years down the road we would have been screwed. Mr D apologized several times. Other things that were broken but I do not feel this would be unique to York were: Broken garden pots around the house. Stepped on plants. Cigarette butts. Nails - so many that I had to rented a large magnet. Broken table umbrella....but the problem with this is they put it back like nothing was wrong. They knew they broke it because the bottom foot and a half was broken off then stuck into the umbrella holder so it looked like normal. Again this is sneaky, just say, hey I broke this! Mr D was made aware of the vent situation and called back to ask when his guys can come and fix the problem but....there was no way I want them back in my house. If Mr D was going into the attic that would be different. My husband had already done the job. We are in the process of looking for a new house....that house may need a new roof! I could have been a repeat customer! The next day there was a heavy rainstorm and high winds, the roof handled it fine. No leaks. More nails showed up all over the yard. The roof looks great, they painted all the pipes the same color. Minus stars are 1 Roof vent not attached lied 2 Roof vent not attached lied 3 Broken umbrella put back sneaky. 7 Positive stars Showed up on time, excellent product and warranty. Hard workers. You need a roof. These guys are the experts. Just be sure to stand back once they get started because they move fast! They replaced my entire 2400 square foot, 3 story roof, including three porches, in 2.5 days, and did it for 24% less then the competition! read more

Yorkstate came to replace a skylight. 1st, they installed it with a giant sticker covering the entire viewing area of the skylight. After several calls, they came out to remove the sticker, which left an ugly glue film all over the skylight that was never removed. Secondly, the skylight has leaked from day one, and you can clearly see shingles protruding into the house from underneath the skylight. After dozens of calls, over 3 years, Jeremiah has never been able to correct the issue. He told me last year that he'd come install a new one. This year, he dodged my calls for months, then finally told me he didn't know what was wrong and I was on my own. Jeremiah called me once, and only once, and that was the make threats to me for leaving negative reviews about his company. To say Jeremiah is unprofressional is a vast understatement. I contacted the state attorney general, and the BBB. The BBB ruled against him and he has since has to remove their logo from his website which he was using without their permission. Do yourself a huge favor, and stay far, far, far away from Yorkstate roofing. They are unprofessional, unskilled, and clearly can not perform a job correctly. They don't return calls, or even honor their own contracts which Jeremiah violated by not properly fixing a skylight he installed incorrectly. He claims it was my fault because I should have called the maker of the skylight. I don't know what business sells and installs a product, then when it doesn't work, disregards their own warranty, and tells the customer to call the manufacturer and go away. Do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere. read more

I called Yorkstate Roofing Services on a Thursday looking for someone to come tarp my roof after a windstorm caused significant damage. The receptionist told me that there was an appt. available on Saturday. I expressed my concern with waiting that long because there was a snow storm on the way and unfortunately I was unable to get on the roof myself as I was recovering from hip surgery. She told me she would fit me in on Friday. I was grateful for this. I called her back on Friday to confirm that someone would still be able to come out that day because I hadn't heard anything yet and I had to work overnights and needed to try to get some sleep. She confirmed that someone would be out. Jeremiah called me at 5:15pm to tell me he was on his way from Henrietta. I told him I was at work but I had got a friend to go over to my house and wait for him because I knew from his receptionist that payment was due upon completion of the job. I also informed him at that time that I still had no power. He said that wasn't a problem. My friend waited for hours in a cold dark house and Jeremiah never showed up nor did he give me the courtesy of calling me back to say he wouldn't be able to make it. He showed up on Saturday morning only to confirm what I had already told him that it needed to be tarped. He asked me to sign a paper saying that it would be $450 and told me they would be out on Monday to do the job. I admit I was feeling frustrated at this point because I expected the job to be done on Friday and now it wouldn't be done until Monday but as the saying goes my hands were tied behind my back because I had already tried to call other companies and knew no one would be able to make it out sooner and we were still under the threat of a snow storm and I would be responsible for any water damage. On Monday two gentlemen showed up to do the job. When I went out to look at it before I paid I expressed my surprise to see black felt versus the typical blue tarps you see. They informed me that they use that versus the tarps because wind can't get up and under it and rip it like it does all to often with tarps. Fine by me. So, if you pay cash they don't charge you sales tax. Of course the ATM only spits out 20 dollar bills. Neither gentlemen had change so I insisted they keep the $10 and go get a drink or whatever (I only mention this because Jeremiah ends up calling me self-righteous{this doesn't sound like self-righteous to me, but what do I know}). So, fast forward 22 days I get a text from my neighbors saying that the felt is blowing off. Of course there is rain on the radar so naturally I am furious. I call Yorkstate and am connected with Jeremiah. Trying to make a long story short I explained what happened and he told me he would send someone out tomorrow to fix it but he would have to charge me. I was outraged! I had already spent $450 and waited many sleepless days for him to do the job and now he wants more money. After arguing with him for 10 min about how dissatisfied and disgusted I was with him that he would even ask for more money he went on to tell me that he does not guarantee tarping and that tarping is only temporary. I asked him repeatedly what he considered temporary as I had only received a check for repairs from the insurance company three days ago. And as a business man he should know that it was taking longer to receive insc. money as so many people had to file claims due to the severity of the windstorm. He then agreed to come out and "take care of me" if I guaranteed him the job to repair my roof. I straight up asked him why he would even think I would agree to that when he was giving me such a hard time about the tarping. After him arguing with me for another 5 min I knew there was no reasoning with him. I told him that they had sent me an e-mail asking for me to write a review and he could be sure that I was going to write an honest one. Knowing full well it would be negative he got super defensive and told me he would come out and fix the tarp free of charge if I gave him my word I would not write a review. NO DEAL! He then made sure to tell me that he has been in business for the past 17 years and that he will be in business for the next 17 years regardless of my review because he has a A+ BBB rating. I'm not entirely sure how he has an A+ rating with the BBB considering that 4 of his 5 reviews on there are negative. Well I guess shame on me for not having the battery capacity from being without power to read Yorkstate's reviews on BBB and Angie's list. Had I had the battery power to do so I would have never called them and instead taken my chances with the no name guy who probably would have done a better job for a fraction of the money.Jeremiah ended the conversation with me by saying "See how that self-righteousness works out for you". If this review saves at least one honest person from getting bamboozled by this company I will consider the time it took to write and submit it a non waste. read more
