My roof had a "warranty" for 10 years. It was already degrading a bit and one of my skylights was leaking inside during a rainstorm. They said by stopping the rain from pouring into my house it negated the warranty. They said they would tend to only the top and sides of that particular skylight. While they were polite, I would have expected a bit more than that. Needless to say, I decided to have my seven year old roof replaced by another company. read more

Spoke with friend who has had a roof done thru Cameron and now it's been 9yrs on a 10 yr warranty and there is a huge problem and now they won't honor the warranty and tried to say it was his fault!!!! I think im gonna steer clear of this company with my upcoming roof replacement. read more

Don't be fooled by this company's slick web presence and testamonials. They are perhaps one of the worst roofing companies opering in the greater Rochester area. Most folks don't know that finding a good roofing contractor is much more difficult than it should be. IF you believe best value usually comes at the lowest price you are setting yourself up for a disaster! Roofers are generally low paid and near the bottom of the skilled trades hierarchy. Many "roofing contractors" have very few of their own employees and pull mechanics out of the union hall to staff crews when things get busy. But I know this so when I chose Cameron Roofing for a job their answers to my questions and their glowing on-line reviews gave me confidence. And they certailny weren't the lowest quote I received among the several estimates. When the job was over I couldn't have been more disappointed. Here is my experience: The shingles were installed using power nailers which is common place but takes some skill to properly adjust the nailer so the nails aren't overdriven and break through the shingle. It also requires the operator/installer to be careful with nail placement in order to hit the the 1 1/2 or so wide strip on the shingle, the nailing zone, which every brand of shingle has. This is critical for long term integrity of the roofing system. Especially of the nail is too low it is not covered by the next course of shingles and will be exposed, a "shiner", which will eventually leak and is unsightly. I had large numbes of shiners on my finished roof and upon close examination at least one nail gun was set to overdirve the nail. There were whole sections of my roof where entire shingles with five or so nails per shingle all over-driven. I specifically asked for starter strip to be installed on the rake edges of the roof to prevent wind blown rain from penetrating. They "forgot" and then tried to excuse this as something they usually don't do, yet it was in the quoted specs! On the job QA was left to one employee forman who is a Cameron Employee. THe rest of the crew was mostly pulled from the union hall. He must have been ovewhelme or merely incompetant because the QA on this job was clearly lackiing. In areas where the roof abutted the house wall there was supposed to be Ice and water barrier installed & new flashing "stepped" each course on the roof pitch. The vinyl siding needed to be removed and then re-installed. This was not done correctly, the I & W barrier was not installed, silicone caulk replaced the proper step flashing and the siding was not replaced correctly by nailing each course of siding on its plange. A large section of siding was "zipped" together to the unerlying course but never nailed to the house wall. Plumbing vents penetrating the roof need to have a proper "boot" installed which has a rubber gasket to seal around the pipe. These boots are sized to the type of pipe used in the plumbing system. My house, being older before PVC was used for plumbing waste lines, had copper waste lines. Copper has a thinner wall and therefor a smaller outside diameter than the equivalent size of PVC. Either they ordered the incorrct boots for my roof or used what they had "on the truck". The PVC boots were installed with a liberal amount of silicone caulk used to seal around the pipes instead of using the correct boot. At the end of the job clean up was inadequate. The gutters were full of nails and debris. They missed one whole section of roof over a bay window. I called them and they came back to do that small section of roof. They installed to wrong shingle color and had to come back, just before Christmas, to install the correct shingle. By this time the ground was partly frozed and snow covered. They didn't properly block the bottom fo the ladder and it slipped and went thru the large picture window in the center of the bay! Thank God no one was hurt. It was a joy to entertain & have family over the holidays with a piece of plywood over the window! Dave Cameron himself quoted this job and "sold" me on the benefits of using his company. But once the Sh_ _ hit the fan he was no where to be seen! Instead he sent his 20 something son who had no serious training or roofing experience himself. read more

We hired Cameron Roofing to replace our 50-year-old windows, gutters and cedar siding on our home. I wanted 1 source for all, and I wanted the work to be done using the contractors own employees. After meeting with several contractors, I realized the employee thing probably wouldn't happen for the scope of work I needed. My wife and I felt very comfortable with Ryan - his approach, professionalism and communication skills were right on!! They did a full tear off and reroof on my house. The crew was great... respectful, efficient, cleaned up my property very well. The job is very well done. The only negative is the surprise extra charges on the final invoice. There were charges for repairs to the roof, which I agreed to, and were fine. Then there were other charges for items I believed were included in the contract ... they always have been in my experience. Ask before you sign what other expenses might crop up and how much they would cost. In the end we reached a mutually agreeable final price. read more

Kitchen remodel- A little confused and disappointed this time around. This project was to be started in Jan....they just finished last month. Not only that, on the ceiling beforehand it was clear there was some kind of leak but when I pointed it out they said that it didn't seem like a problem now. That they saw no leak. So a few days before they finished we had a lot of rain and once again a leak stain appeared around the new ceiling lights. They said "oh that's a roof problem" (mind you they are roofers as well) then painted over the leak. I asked if they could take a look / possibly fix the problem..no response. Everything I wanted them to fix towards the end was reasonable (different colored grout in the floor tiles, paint mishaps,Fixing the door that was installed on the wrong side so the pantry shelves could actually pull out)...still have paint drops on my wood floor ..I got tired of asking to fix things and feeling like I was being annoying or unreasonable. Like really? I was beyond patient and even gave the workers $100 dollars worth of gift cards to show my appreciation of how hard they were working and that I understood a lot of the mishaps was because of lowes and mis-communication from their boss. At the end I felt like they couldn't be more happy to be done with it. Trust me I couldn't either but at least leave respecting the customer. The last thing they did was fix the grout and grout was splattered on cupboards and such. I think they were in over their heads with this project and just couldn't express that. I'm not saying my kitchen doesn't look a million times better than it did before but remodeling a kitchen is an investment. Something you want to last and look professional. It does...but like i said it's the fine details when spending that kind of money. I'd still choose this company over any others I've come across. read more

Awesome service!! The crew came out started the early in the morning and I tell you, These boys worked 7am- 10:30pm to finish the roof in one day for me. The lead contractor came back on his day off to repair a light that was damaged. EVERY REQUEST I had was taken care of in a timely, Professional manor. Cameron Roofing, did a good job on most of the work, installing the roof tiles and putting in new plywood - all were good. The work that was not good, 1) they put old roof debris in my attic, and 2) put in the wrong type of roof ridge vents, making the house impossible to vent out the heat. They should have offered a choice of roof ridge vents. My old ones they threw away, worked very well. read more
