Rich, balanced, and clearly made with care. My tonkatsu was beautifully caramelized -- that golden crust giving way to tender, juicy pork -- while my girlfriend's chicken katsu was crispy, perfectly cooked, and somehow still light. No sogginess, no shortcuts -- just done right. The atmosphere strikes that sweet spot between cozy and modern, and the service was genuinely warm and attentive without hovering. A great little place found through recommendations from my fellow yelpers. This place is off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The menu is very interesting with everything Korean, Japanese and Thai inspired from fried rice to tacos to noodle dishes. Service was very good and though the restaurant is small, it is well appointed. We ordered edamame and a pork bun for appetizers. The edamame were served lightly salted and warm and the pork bun wonderful and flavorful. I highly recommend. For a main dish, I ordered the pad Thai with shrimp. The only complaint I have is that the dish was pretty salty. The shrimp were delicious and the portions for everything were generous. We ordered spicy fried rice to take home and I'm so glad we did. From the outside it doesn't look like much but the inside is clean and well decorated with incredibly friendly service! The food was quick and exceptional. A friend and I had an appetizer, two entrees with water for under $40 plus we both took leftovers home. I will definitely be back, I loved the option to make my chicken friend rice spicy. The menu is eclectic to say the least - Mexican, Chinese, Korean, Spanish all melded together in unexpected and sometimes weird ways. We ordered mandu and spicy pork tacos. Quite happy indeed. We were in the area recently and were pleasantly surprised to find this gem. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and there's street parking only, but it's worth the trek for anyone wondering. It's truly Korean inspired food and had some tastes I only got from big city food trucks in the past. And I'm not talking about those greasy food trucks. I'm talking about the ones that have a 30 min wait just to order because the line's so long. Was the food perfect? No. There's always room for improvement, such as less salt (or salted sauce) in the soups. However, I don't think I could ask for better short of driving to Philly or NYC. Solid spot offering dishes from a wide array of cuisines including Korean and also Mexican and Spanish options. I started out by ordering the Shrimp Pancake ($13), which was pretty thick, soft, and tasty. I also ordered the Seafood Paella ($13), which was just normal rice in some light sauce (sauce could have been thicker/creamier) with some shrimp and mussels. It was definitely not as good as other paellas that I've had, but was only $13 so it was fine. I got the Ho-Dduk (Korean pancake with red bean filling) for dessert, which was tasty and a pretty large size for only $3. The restaurant is generally good value all around. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The service speed was pretty quick. The interior was clean with ample seating available. My favorite dish was the jap cnae because it tasted authentic but the meat was a little tough. My least favorite dish was the kimchi pasta, it was just a very strange combination that I didn't really understand. Maybe a little too different for my taste? We also ordered the mandoo, Jjam bong, and kimchi and pork fried rice. The mandoo wasn't anything special but was good enough. This place is a gem - the flavors are wonderful and the prices are LOW for what you get. Service was very polite and efficient. We came as a party of 5 and several parties came in after us, including a party of 8 who were taken to an upstairs dining area which we never saw. We all left this place happy! Appetizer dumplings and Bulgogi nachos were terrific. My pan fried noodles with spicy pork were perfect for me - I recommend them without hesitation. My son had the Jjamppong noodle soup - that was a flavor explosion unlike almost anything I've ever tried. My daughter had the Pho. Pho has never looked appealing to me because of the lack of color, but the flavor of that broth was delicious. It surprised me. My daughter said the beef in the Pho was a bit bland, but I didn't try it so I can't confirm. My only regret is that we don't live around here and can't visit regularly. read more

Yori House is a great value restaurant for Asian-inspired dishes in Cortland! As an appetizer, I shared the Shrimp Pancake which was well cooked with a good amount of shrimp and we also got complimentary little sides of salad. For my entree, I got the Bibimbap which was beautifully plated in a small cast iron skillet with very colorful veggies. However, it wasn't the best combination of toppings (the lettuce and greens didn't go so well) and the bulgogi could have used some more flavor here. Finally, for dessert, I got the hotteok (red bean pancake) which was pretty good and generously sized for the price of $3. Overall, Yori house may not be the most authentic Asian restaurant but I was generally impressed by the presentation of the dishes, the flavors, and the portion sizes. read more

This is an unexpected place in Cortland. The menu is eccentric with Korean, Mexican, and American all fused together. I loved the use of fresh ingredients and the meal felt generally healthy. We started with the veggie pancake which was full of flavor but a tad greasy for me. We then shared mushroom bao buns which were excellent and a chicken rice bowl. This was all good but would have been elevated with the addition of a quick pickle versus just fresh shredded veggies. I honestly think this is a solid spot in Cortland as anything more authentic might not suit the local palate. read more

I was visiting Homer for the weekend, and drove over here to Cortland for dinner. I got the Bimbimbap, and was really impressed. Nice choice of very fresh ingredients, and this was the first time I ever had the style with the crunchy rice on the bottom, which was really good. It also came with sides of both gochugang and a mayo-like sauce that went really well mixed in with the spicy sauce. I also picked up a Korean donut (red bean filling, I think) to go, which I zapped in my microwave back at the hotel, and that was really good too. I've lived in medium/large cities with good Korean restaurants, and this was really good by those standards, not just by small town standards. I will come back if I'm in town again. read more
