Complimentary cheese tasting
Nicholas M.

This was a fantastic dinner. For the location that it shares and being so modestly priced the whole dining experience was beyond expectation. The menu was very well organized and gave plenty of options. The food itself and recommendations from the waiter were also very good. The chorizo dip for the tortilla chips is absolutely delicious. The overall environment was really great, from the decorations to the cleanlinesses and finally the lighting for a nice dinner. Great place if you're looking to get dinner and feel like it's an actual dining experience.

Eggs in Purgatory

This review is only for breakfast at Yolan while staying at The Joseph. I ordered the Eggs in Purgatory since it was presented as one of their specialties, and honestly, it was terrible. Shockingly bland with almost no flavor whatsoever. I'm not someone who sends food back, but this was only about the fourth time in my life where I genuinely said I hated a dish and couldn't finish it. My wife's breakfast sandwich was definitely better -- still pretty mid overall, but at least flavorful enough to enjoy. Ironically, the potatoes were probably the most seasoned thing we had. This may simply be a restaurant that shines at dinner and not breakfast, but considering it's essentially the breakfast option tied to staying at The Joseph, the experience was pretty disappointing.

Came here for dinner on the night I arrived in Nashville for my Christmas road trip. I don't usually go for Italian, but this place caught my attention with a tasting menu, had a tower of canapés as one of the courses, and showcased Italian cooking in more ways that just pasta. Located just off the lobby of a beautiful hotel, just passed the giant gingerbread house, the ambiance was luxury. Dark seating soft illuminated by incredibly high ceilings and a glass wine cellar area that really made the joint feel classy, but not snooty, if that makes sense. Service was exquisite. Very nice server who was all over our ever need. The courses came out very well-timed, our glasses were never empty, and the explanation of each course was good. They're not always good when it comes to restaurants who don't only do tasting menus. Very good service. As for the food, we got the Esperienza Yolan Tasting Menu. The tasting menu they have right now is different than what we had, which is a great sign. Menus that change with the seasons show passion and attention to detail, I think. So I won't do into detail about what I ate, but I will say that the portion sizes were perfect, the pasta we did encounter was entirely unique in its flavor, the meat we ate was cooked perfectly, and the desserts were elegant and had the perfect sweetness. Overall, I was extremely impressed with Yolan. I have never been surprised by an Italian restaurant like I was this night. I definitely recommend.

The food and service were both great Mary my server was fantastic and Jessica the hostess rocked my welcome.

Pros: Ambiance is spectacular. In the lobby of a boutique hotel, you feel like you're in the lap of luxury. Very intimate lighting, very nice table setting, and a beautiful wine cellar to look at during your meal. Service was also spectacular. Our server took very good care of us, we had a dedicated water server, and the food and drink came out very timely. Food itself was the best part. They had a tasting menu, which is rare for Italian places, so we got a grand tour of the menu, and it was all very good and not what you'd expect from an Italian restaurant Cons: No cons whatsoever. A really lovely evening. Tips: Get the tasting menu. You'll feel like royalty.

Decent hotel restaurant in the Jospeh. Parking can be a hassle. Decent amount of seating. Good service. Clean restaurant. Burger was ok, nothing to hate on but nothing to love either. Brussel sprouts was surprisingly good.

This could have been one of the best meals I've ever had in my life with the most incredible service. Wow! The Chef, Liam, rotates the menu on a regular basis, based on different regions of Italy and only has menu items with the freshest ingredients so in my case, the Gnoochi Alla Trapanese, can only be ordered when the specific types of tomatoes are in season. The entire menu is based around the cuisine of Sicily right now but that will change so do not wait because you don't want to miss out on this current menu. Even what seems so simple as marinated olives was phenomenal! A very unique dessert to that was something to try (Zuppa Di pomodoro). Specifically ask for William as your waiter because he is the ultimate! He spent so much time talking to us about our options and his thoughts on them. He spent time chatting with us and was such now.

Possibly the best service I've had at a restaurant ever. From the hostess who was incredibly friendly and gave us lots of Nashville tips to our waiter who helped me find a wine I liked, to the auxillary staff who filled waters and delivered food. Absolutely wonderful folks in this restaurant! The food was also very good. I ordered the filet and my husband had the lamb and some olives. We both ordered a glass of wine with the help of our knowledgeable server, Keenan. Food took a bit to come out, but it was well worth the wait. Literally the only negative about this place is that it is situated right next to the hotel bar, and it got very loud while we were trying to have a nice dinner in a beautiful restaurant.

This was a highlight of a trip to Nashville. The place is kind of hidden in the Joseph with a nice ambiance. You are immediately greeted by the hostess and taken to your seat where they ask your water preference, a sign of a great meal to come. The menu has plenty of options and they have a wonderful tasting menu that I wish I would have done. I chose not too because they didn't have the one dish I really wanted on it, but I probably should have done it for the value. Anyways what I did have was amazing! I started off with the pappardelle which was super flavorful with the perfect à la dente noodles. I basically licked the spoon clean and would have eaten a second portion if I knew how amazing it was going to be. I then had the merluzzo Nero which was good but honestly should have just gotten a second pasta. The celery root slaw was a little off to me, but the cod was cooked well and the star though was the sauce. I'm glad I tried an entree but I should have just gotten 2 pastas and called it a day like I normally do at a place like this. But this place was pretty awesome but a little expensive. It's going to be a place that I put on the list for a nice occasion not just a random dinner spot which stinks because I'm not from Nashville and don't do a lot of nice occasion dinners. Don't get me wrong when I went this week it hit the spot and I don't really have any regrets, but it was 100+ meal for me who is also a non-drinker. I'm sure I'll be back but when I'm ready to celebrate something not just a random Tuesday.

Focaccia with whipped ricotta, fermented garlic honey

Yolan is an absolute gem in Nashville. From the moment we sat down, everything felt thoughtful, elevated, and genuinely delicious. We started with the focaccia with whipped ricotta and fermented garlic honey, and wow.. this alone is worth the visit. Perfectly airy focaccia paired with creamy ricotta and the subtle sweetness and depth of the garlic honey was an unforgettable combination. For mains, we tried the gnocchi (They ran out of Truffles for the day) and pappardelle, and both were outstanding. The gnocchi was pillowy and rich without being heavy, while the pappardelle was beautifully cooked with layers of flavor that showed real attention to technique and balance. You can tell the pasta is made with care and intention. We finished with the tiramisu, which was the perfect ending light, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. A classic done right. Between the food, ambiance, and overall experience, Yolan truly delivers. Highly recommend for a special night out or anyone looking to enjoy exceptional Italian-inspired cuisine in Nashville. We'll definitely be back.

Yolan had been on my list of places to try for so long and while I liked it, I didn't absolutely adore it. Finding the entrance was iffy and I had to circle the block a few times for it (this could just be a me problem) and the space wasn't as intimate as I'd imagined. The small plates were fantastic. We got the whipped cheese and focaccia and loved it. The menu was very cream heavy so be prepared to fill up fast. There are several vegetarian friendly options but because of the cream, definitely not much for a vegan. The cocktail menu was small, but the wine menu was extensive. All in all it was a fun experience but I'd have to think hard about going back when there are so many other places in Nashville to try

The restaurant is inside The Joseph hotel. The decor and atmosphere is affluent so I'm definitely in between a 3.5 and a 4 so I'll go ahead and give it a 4 because it is not a 3 star rating. We came over for dinner and the service was really good. The only problem is that they speak too fast and too low that we could barely understand what they were saying. The background music/noise was not helping either. When we got past it, we just enjoyed ourselves and that's why most of my pixs don't have description Come check it out and don't forget to clean up and fancy it up... Also, make reservations.

Food is five stars. The experience was not. We went to Yolan for my wife's birthday and ordered the tasting menu. I want to be very clear up front that the food is incredible. Every course was beautifully executed, creative, and genuinely delicious. From a purely culinary standpoint, Yolan absolutely delivers. That said, at this price point, the entire experience matters just as much as the food, and this is where the night fell short for us. From the beginning, things felt a bit disjointed. Our original reservation had already been moved to a different night due to a private event, which we understood, but I did expect the experience on the new date to feel a little more thoughtful as a result. Instead, we were told there would be a short wait for our table, offered bar seating, then placed at a small side table near the bar that felt more like an afterthought than a destination. Throughout the evening, the staff seemed overwhelmed and stressed. Our server was kind but clearly juggling too much. A few drinks were mixed up, some things were forgotten, and at one point I had to track down a manager just to get silverware. When we stepped away briefly to take a photo, our table was completely cleared, which was surprising mid meal. I want to be clear that I do not fault our server personally. In fact, she did not charge us for a few drinks, which felt like an acknowledgment that things had not gone smoothly. Still, at this level, guests should not feel like they are part of the problem. Even small moments added to that feeling. When retrieving our coats at the end of the night, the interaction felt rushed and oddly irritated, rather than warm or reflective of a special evening out. Lastly, while this is subjective, the ambiance did not match the caliber of the food. Compared to other high end restaurants in Nashville, the decor felt dated and mismatched, more like a luxury hotel lobby than a modern destination restaurant. It did not detract from the food, but it did not elevate the experience either. Would I return? Yes, because the food really is that good. Would I hope for a smoother, more thoughtful service experience next time? Absolutely. Yolan has incredible culinary talent. With tighter front of house execution and more intentional hospitality, it could truly be something special.

We just finished up at the Catbird Seat and Ashley had called next door to see if they could seat us at the Patterson House. As it turns out they could, and they were ready for us when we made our way across the hall. They gave us a choice of where we'd like to sit, and there were two chairs at the end looking out of the windows at skyline of the city. What better way to end a lovely evening with a lovely lady, but with a lovely view and some fantastic drinks? Holland, like the country, greeted us and set us up for the evening. Holland brought great energy, and was super welcoming. They even offered us drinks on the house for the engagement. Totally unexpected, and that just meant we had to have more than one round to make sure that we could appropriately tip and show our appreciation for the amazing hospitality! The drinks were great. I tend to gravitate towards the less sweet. The Japanese Anchorage scratched that elitch very well being boozy forward, with hints of flavors. She had the Late Summer Margarita, refreshing and sweeter. We shared the Thai Tea Banana Colada. Definitely the sweeter side, but couldn't pass up the opportunity. Very good, a little sweeter and a little heavier than I'd normally prefer. It met both of our preferences right in the middle. Compromise, right? Great experience, and would absolutely come back when in town!

We walked in around 5:00 PM, and there were very few people in the bar. We had a party of six, so we sat down at a table and waited. After sitting there for a while without anyone coming over, I finally went to the bar. Shortly after that, a waitress came to our table, so I went back and we placed our order. Then came another long wait, we waited about 20 minutes just to get our drinks, even though the bar was nearly empty. On the bright side, the drinks were great. I ordered an El Carajillo, and it was really good! The horchata crème in it was SOOOO good and definitely the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the service issues continued. When the waitress brought the check for me to sign, I realized she had not returned my credit card. I had to track her down to get it back, and while doing so, I ran into another customer who had experienced the exact same thing. They have great drinks and normally provide a good experience, so hopefully this was just an off night. But on this particular Friday evening, with the bar barely occupied, the service definitely missed the mark.
