YTT Teacher Training
Tara L.

My YTT experience at Yoga Rocks has been one of the best experiences in my adult life! Dee Dee and Jillian are so talented and very knowledgeable. They have many gifts to share with the world and pass on to future YTT instructors. The teacher training is unlike any experience one could have. Life long bonds have been made with some of the best group of passionate yogis! I'm in awe of my experience and wish it wasn't over. These last 6 1/2 weeks have taught me so much about not only yoga: the culture of yoga and how to incorporate my new skill into life. From our teacher/student chant, to taking lots of hot classes is just the tip of the iceberg. The community of love at Yoga Rocks is very special. I have found my hot yoga studio for life. I can't forget about ALL the special guest instructor lectures we had throughout training. So much talent under one roof to give mini lectures over various topics to take with you in life. Once you learn your sequencing, you will be teaching in live classes to help your nerves and also your experience. You will come out well rounded in your education. I learned about myself and my life journey doesn't end here, it's only just beginning. Dee Dee has many years of experience in fitness and yoga combined. She is one of the BEST YOGA instructors I have had the pleasure of taking. To gain her as a life long mentor is such a great asset. Jillian is equally as amazing when it comes to 26.2 sequence and her posture mechanics is super helpful. Especially if you are new to 26.2 as I am. She is a plethora of knowledge and super talented! She also teaches an awesome Buti Yoga class! You will not be disappointed in taking this YTT 200 training! I highly recommend signing up when this opportunity comes around again. There are many studios in DFW to choose from, I cannot speak for them but my YTT training at Yoga Rocks was the best choice I could have made. You are treated like family from day one. Absolutely the best yoga family around. I drive 45 min 3 days a week just to be here. I just can't give it up. This is where my heart is.

Been going to this studio for a solid month now, and I've gotta say, I kinda love it! It's got a…read morerelaxed zen-like atmosphere, intimate class size, nice group of people from different ages / fitness levels -- and there's something for everyone. I first started out with the restorative yoga, which as Melissa C mentions is much slower paced (and I guess that's the point; so as to restore you). It was helpful in the sense that it got me out of my head for an hour, and I left feeling very relaxed and refreshed. Then I decided maybe the power yoga would give me more of a cardio workout, and it did! I was famished half way through, I think it's more for intermediate level. Right now I'm really enjoying the Beginner 1 classes. It goes through a good foundation of poses, and Jessica does well to balance more challenging variations with easier modifications, so you get to listen to your body and follow according to your individual needs. The forehead massage at the end with essential oils is a nice touch, haven't seen this at any other place. Overall if you're looking for a studio in Rockwall, I suggest going through some of the different classes offered here with various teachers, to find one that feels right for you. Right now, I'm so glad I found this place!

I recently started attending classes here (4 weeks ago/5 classes). I definitely enjoy the feel of…read morethe studio - calm, clean, and simple. The only thing I wish is there was decor on the walls or windows in the studio so I could focus on something during practice. Other than that, I like the intimate size, changing rooms, clean bathrooms, ample waiting area, etc. I've only attended Beginner classes taught by Jessica, one of the owners. She's even keeled and knowledgable - the real deal. I like how her classes are never the same from day to day: Different parts of my body get worked on from class to class. (I've been to classes before where the teacher seemed to favor certain postures.) She's great at giving modifications if my body isn't willing to go "there" and tips for making a posture or stretch more challenging. I've come away sore from her class once (heavy on the abs). I usually leave feeling stretched out and relaxed. I suppose I'd like for mid-class to lead up to some sort of flow, more Sun Salutations perhaps - just for a few minutes - to get my heart going a bit more. Maybe there's another class I need to try for that. My favorite thing is the Savasana at the end. The studio I was a part of before practiced this for a good amount of time at the end of every practice, and I haven't been to one since that consistently did it for a good amount of time. Jessica does here and even gives a quick, relaxing forehead massage using essential oils. Yay for the human touch! I do miss the yoga-nidra practice from my last place, but I can do that myself now. Overall, I'm just happy to have found a real studio - not a random class at the Y, not that crazy hot yoga doesn't embody all that yoga is suppose to be, but true mind/body/spirit place.
