My family and I have become regulars at this location for quite a while now. We were here last night around 6:45 PM and the waitress greeted us really sweetly with a "I haven't seen you guys in a while"...which is probably about two months since we last came here. We used to come every week because the sushi here is pretty fresh, priced right and service is usually good. We just haven't been coming as often since we're so busy traveling. The waitress was really sweet when she saw me trying to take a picture of my brother and my son and offered to take a group photo for us, then she asked if we were celebrating anyone's birthday...which we happened to be celebrating mine. My friend had seen this place from the freeway, and it's close to her work, so we decided to try it. It's not an impressive place: You order your sushi at the counter, you seat yourself, and you bus your own table. BUT, the sushi is good! I enjoyed each of the 4 rolls we ordered, especially the Deluxe Lambada and the Martinez rolls. And the bill only came out to $39, including two tapioca black milk tea drinks with pearls, which is a bargain for good sushi. First time here and wanted to come here based on all the positive reviews on Yelp. For lunch, we shared the Travis burrito for $7.95- it had all my favorite ingredients inside and on top. We also shared the lunch special for $7.95, which was chicken teriyaki and 6 CA rolls. I was disappointed in the chicken meat. I prefer dark meat, but they use white meat and it was very dry, even with the teriyaki sauce. And the pieces we got included a lot of little scraps. The CA rolls were pretty big in size and pretty good. No salad or soup included like most bento boxes have though. The Travis burrito was thick, but they cut it into 5 very skinny slices. It tasted better than it looked but it didn't stay together very long and was difficult to hold and eat, due it being so thinly cut. Visually, I like sushi that is cut into the normal size slices. Maybe because of the price, the roll was made smaller in size, so if they cut it into normal slices, u would only get 4 pieces? I liked the oversized menu board and sushi display board when u first walk in. The wall decorations in the hallway, near the restrooms were cute too. Overall, it was a small, but cute place to eat at. Maybe they are more known for their sushi than their bento boxes. The person at the counter was very friendly and helpful. This place is pretty good considering it's a pretty small shop. Of course small joints are usually the go to places! There are plenty of rolls to choose from along with rice plates and sashimi. Service is more of a self serve for utensils and drinks and bus your own dishes type of place . Most of the time they are pretty quick on their food and good at bringing everything to you. If you have any concerns make sure to address them as soon as you get your food otherwise that will be the only time they will be coming to you. Good sushi for the price. My go to is the Poki rolls (6.50). Its like having a tuna roll with a side of wakame salad. Right in the Home Depot/Walmart shopping center so no issues with finding a parking spot. Its a small dining area but I never had an issue finding a table to sit and eat. read more

The Ika was slimy on the bottom, the tamago hard and oddly flavored, the maguro had strands of sinew, and the hamachi and hirame had a mealy texture. Shrimp and salmon were fine. Eel was bland. Sushi rice was dry and broke apart, and the cuts were odd, like a bedspread - super long but excessively thin. I'm afraid this place just doesn't have the volume to serve raw fish. Came around 4:30 pm on a Thursday and they served the order within 5 minutes. I ordered the Morello roll. The shrimp tail isn't dry and has a lot of meat still. I like how the rice is still warm not stale/cold. The previous reviews showed that this branch only had "Conditional" but when I came here July 2016, they had "Pass" posted so I'm glad they are now in compliance with food handling requirements. Their restroom is actually cleaner and more tidy looking compared to Vallejo and Fairfield combined. Might be making up for their past citation. I sat in the right back corner and I could see the kitchen in the back and it looked neat as well. I'm not an inspector so I'm only basing on looks. I don't wanna eat dirty food. The decor are all Japanese related - rightfully so since it's a Japanese restaurant. However, I find it interesting and funny that all three Yo Sushi branches (Fairfield, Vallejo, Martinez) play K-Pop music videos and no Japanese at all. Maybe because the owners are Korean. We went to eat here because my mom and grandma were craving for some Japanese food. We were so surprised at how low the prices were! It was definitely worth it, they serves great portions and delicious food. We ordered fried oysters, gyoza, tonkotsu ramen, and the fantasy roll; no doubt we were stuffed! The ramen alone filled us up because of how large it was! We were also amazed at how fast all the food came out after we ordered. Pickings are slim in Martinez but we decided to give this new place a go during their Grand Opening. The place is not a traditional restaurant, it's really set to be more of a take out. I ordered the Sashimi/Nigri combination for $15. The selection was decent and the pieces of fish were decently sized. Woo 100th review of this place! :) This is a pretty UNDERRATED fast food sushi place. It is pretty small, and has more of a Hawaiian atmosphere to the place. The rolls here are priced VERY cheap compared to other places! The Lion King roll (my favorite) is only about 10$ and it is a generous amount! The rolls are all posted on their menu and if it is too much for you, they have a hard copy of the menu (which is also their take-out menu). The rice bowls here are huge as well, and there are many different combinations and customization for the bento boxes. You can also substitute brown rice for white rice which I think is a plus (a bit extra). The food comes out quick! Less than 10 minute wait for sure. Take out here is great and I usually call them, then pick it up 10-15 minutes later! Super friendly staff and they serve/clean up for you sometimes when it is during a non-busy time. My go-to take-out sushi spot. Glad that a Yo's opened up on this side of the bay so you don't have to pay for toll. :) If you're into rolls, then you'll love this place. They have great selection of cooked and raw rolls and the rice proportion to filling is just right. I haven't had their their nigiri or sashimi yet but the rolls are pretty good. My usual is the black hole (with spicy mayo on the side) and the lion king. Note that most rolls don't come with sauce or minimal sauce so if you're looking for something saucey, order it on the side. It's an extra 25 cents but worth it since the prices are decent. You can take the bento boxes for what they are... you either love 'em or hate 'em. Their teriyaki is on the sweeter side but their tempura is pretty good. They give you 1 shrimp and an assortment of veggies. I haven't eaten here but being that it's a small place, it can get pretty crowded. And it does look like it caters more to the take-out crowd and can get pretty busy. Wait time is awesome too, like 15-20 mins, so food is fast and good. read more

It's difficult to find a quality japanese restaurant that serves a legit bento box with a reasonable price. Other places I've been to either over-charge or don't offer a variety of items. They cook everything to nothing below perfection. The reason I'm finally writing a review is 'cause I ordered tempura here the other day and it was straight up disgusting. It was soggy and the rice was sticky and nasty. BUT THIS IS WHAT PISSES ME OFF. THEY FRIED A PICKLE SLICE AND CALLED IT TEMPURA. what the hell. okay really? they probs ran out of vegetables, looked in the fridge and just threw in a pickle slice. EW. never in my life have I had a pickle slice in a tempura mix. good bye. nope. never again I honestly don't understand why this place has reviews with other two stars!?
