We got takeout for a work lunch and they owners went above and beyond to accommodate to the needs of my colleagues. The order was ready right on time, they gave us free edamame, and literally helped me carry the food out to my car. Food was great and they gave us extra sauce!

Lovely light lunch options. Clean space and quick service in the afternoon. The food was tasty imo

I am visiting from out of town but my sister lives really close to this place. I was impressed with how the food was served and the amount given! It was very tasty and we finished it all. I would say the ambiance was mellow. They have music playing and it was a bit empty on the day we went ( Monday ). Overall great food

We are leaving our review for our Togo order. Our family's been getting sushi here for some time. In our case it is quick easy and just down the street on the street so it's a very quick in-and-out. There's quite a selection of sushi to decide from and and mostly on this trip we were planning on not having the inflight snacks that they offer on Southwest and no meal we decided to treat ourselves to a nice platter of sushi so we got some individual orders for each of us to have our inflight feast. They do a good job too. There's quite a nice selection so if you would rather have sashimi than so she me then sushi The Choice is yours if you want to have chicken or soup The Choice is yours. It just depends on what you're willing to carry. We are so glad we decided to bring our own sushi on the flight. It was a big success and I would do it again in a minute if they didn't offer in flight meals. The trip was 5 and a 1/2 hours so we definitely were hungry when we got to it.

Update to say: Their prices have gone up, but so has their food quality in my opinion. We placed an order here for two 2 item specials with chicken teriyaki and tempura, a futo roll, and a yo special roll. The specials were good - the chicken was much better than I had experienced in the past. They were quick - our order was place over the phone and ready in 20 minutes. I'm keeping it at 3.5/5 because they skimp on the chicken compared to similar restaurants and price points in the area, and the futo roll was oddly salty. Still, yo sushi is convenient. I would hate to see it go, so I'll still come here from time to time.

Yo, if you don't know now you know! Yo Sushi is a quick solid go to for sushi in the Berkeley/Albany/El Cerrito corridor. More deserving of 3 & 1/2 stars. Yes the prices went up slightly but the quality is the same. I also can't stress, the quick turn around. Every time I call, the order is freshly made in 10 minutes. Also, super convenient parking lot on site. Love the spicy tuna rolls and their avocado rolls. My wife is a vegetarian and like the fact that they have a good assortment of vegetarian rolls. I wouldn't consider this fine dining, but yes there is inside and outdoor seating. This is more of a quick, quality takeout for me!

** The following review reflects my delivery experience DURING the COVID-19 pandemic. ** Yo Sushi sounds so street, but it's more like a fast food rendition of a sushi spot by way of the employee cafeteria. As Clarice said in "Steel Magnolias": "If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit by me!" Well, as restaurants struggle to survive during this awful pandemic, I refuse to pass judgment over any small business that can survive. But do come sit by me because the rolls were not quite Jamie W. and I expected. Jamie's a big fan of the traditional Alaska Roll with salmon and avocado. The $7.45 version made here, however, has grilled salmon skin, carrots, eggplant, and other assorted veggies. Say what? Not awful but still... Unfortunately the $9.50 Spicy Garlic Tuna Roll was hamstring by the gloppy spicy garlic sauce (photo: https://bit.ly/3lAVdEi). Better was the $8.95 Sake Kama, a good-size portion, nicely charred the way I like it (photo: https://bit.ly/3hLjo0x), and the highlight was the simplest dish, the $13.95 Hamachi Appetizer, eight clean slices, gone in a matter of minutes (photo: https://bit.ly/2YRf749). As Clarice said: "Spoken like a true smartass." FOOD - 3 stars...sushi rolls that border on carnival fare AMBIANCE - n/a...not sure since it was a delivery SERVICE - 3.5 stars...it arrived fast enough though the presentation of the rolls left something to be desired TOTAL - 3 stars..."Drink your juice, Shelby!" This place is simple in approach but has every possibility of sushi you could want they even have about 12 vegan dishes. They also have takeout and delivery. There tempura and udon are delicious as is the huge variety of sushi. I has the Monkey roll. Which is fried plantain withi crab meat and fried tofu is dekciiiis. Their udon soup is also excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful. It's quick and clean too

At this point, I'm just cataloguing what we're eating: Premium Galbitang - This was excellent and my favorite dish today. This was a Galbitang, but they added 2 shrimp, an abalone, and some other seafood. I haven't had beef + seafood combo outside of the soft tofu stew, but I might have to consider it more after trying this dish. Packed with flavor. Galbi Dolsot - A large portion. Nice and crispy rice. Great sear on the galbi. Highly recommend. I've talked about the banchan before - best banchan in East Bay, although the turnip kimchi is out of control (needs to be cut into smaller pieces). Seafood Pancake - Pretty good version here. Crispy and flavorful. Thick Soybean Paste Stew - A hearty tofu soup with some veggies. It came out first and I thought it was a pretty good starter. Fried Chicken - I think the chicken here is ok in terms of crispiness and flavor. Original was good. Garlic was really odd. It was basically original with some kind of puree on top (raw garlic + sugar). Not something I would get again. Beef Bulgogi - We had a better version of this the last time we came. Today's did not get enough heat. No sear on the onions or the beef.

Let me tell you, this was the best Banchan I have had in any Korean restaurant. The chive one was my favorite but they were all good. We ordered several dishes to try a little of everything. We ordered the seafood pancake, jap chae with beef, galbi jjim with cheese (you get to see them touch the cheese table side), bibimbop, tofu soup, and bossam. Everything was unbelievably tasty. This is definitely one of the best Korean meals I have ever had. The rice cakes were nice and chewy in the galbi jjim, the bossam was so delicious, the seafood pancake was nice and crispy. I could eat here all day. The service was quick, the staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean. I will definitely be back.

It appears to be popular with families as well. It was a Friday evening after 9pm, kind of late for us to eat very much but I needed something so we popped in. It was quiet, maybe three or four other tables. Our food server was patient as I looked over the fairly large menu. Ended up with some of my current faves: hamachi nigiri, California roll, yam roll, and salmon skin roll. Everything was thoughtful, well prepared, and delicious. It was just enough food and I was good for the night. On our second visit, my hubby and I brought my dad for lunch to celebrate his 88th birthday. It was pouring rain outside but we were fortunate to get parking right outside the door. We ended up sitting by the window which was the same table we sat at during our first visit. We ordered gyoza (6) for the table. We all ordered bento. Dad had the beef short ribs and California roll, hubby had the Vegetable tempura and California roll, I had the Saba shiyoyaki and hamachi sashimi. All three came with miso soup and salad. Everything was delicious. My fish was well seasoned and moist, dad's beef short ribs were tender, hubby's tempura was light and crisp. Lunch was very reasonably priced for all we ordered. I am definitely a fan of this place and look forward to dining here again.

Review for dinner service on 6 March 25…read more I had been trying off and on to get a booking but nothing was ever available, so I was pleasantly surprised to snag a seating for two within a week of the reservation because a fellow Yelper cancelled her reservation (thank you Sarah T!) The following week, we were in for a wonderful, delicious and entertaining evening. The two other couples had made their reservations back in December, so I felt very lucky we did not have as long a wait. Chef Aki-san and Michiko-san are a husband and wife team. At 6pm, the door opened and Michiko-san invited the six of us to choose a seat at the sushi bar. We all sat down before a simple place setting: a square ceramic plate, hashioki (chopstick rests), hashi (chopsticks, paper napkin and oshibori (towel for wiping your fingers). She handed us a menu and checked in with everyone to see if there were any dietary restrictions or allergies, took our drink orders and a brought a small bowl of edamame for each couple. We declined ordering any side dishes because I suspected that the 16-item omakase selection would be more than enough for the evening. As it turned out, two salads were added to our already extensive menu. Nommmm ... more tastes for me :D As we drank and munched on edamame, we watched Aki-san stocking the bar with ingredients he would be serving to us. He introduced himself and in turn we introduced ourselves - where we were from, how we learned of the restaurant, etc. It turned out to be the first time for all of us. During the course of the evening, we learned quite a bit about his history and experience working as a sushi chef before opening his own restaurant. Our menu (in order) for the evening: -Tako and Sunomono salad with shiso leaf, drizzled with a light miso sauce -Blue fin toro -Ika/squid -Hokkaido scallop -Ebi/fresh water shrimp -Sake/salmon -Saba/mackerel -Ankimono (Monkfish liver) and Sunomono salad with scallions and tobiko, shiso leaf with a ponzo sauce -Ikura, avocado and tobiko -A5 wagyu -Seared albacore -Hokkaido uni -Buri/ hamachi yellowtail -Blue fin toro -Sake/salmon cold smoked with hickory -Anago (fresh water eel) -Unagi (salt water eel) -Tamagoyaki Everything was incredibly fresh and tasted of the sea. Each piece was carefully prepared, perfectly seasoned, beautiful on the plate. He talked about each item as we tasted and ate. I loved watching as he rubbed the wasabi root against a metal shark skin grater, a tool he has had forever. Chef Aki-san chided me when I confessed I was eating the nigiri in two bites - apparently that is the wrong way to eat! Nigiri is meant to be eaten in one bite, the logic being that you don't get the full experience of the taste and flavour in two bites. My issue is that most nigiri sushi these days have too much rice that my mouth is too full to appreciate the flavour. However, he prepares "low carb" portions so the fish and beef are highlighted, yet all in balance. To sum things up - the food and presentation was perfect. I am not a fan of eel, so those were my least favourite bites. It was my first time eating monkfish liver. I found it quite delicious and would definitely eat it again. Mitchiko-san was very sweet and attentive, noting if we needed refills of water or sake jars. The atmosphere overall was light, friendly and jovial, and we enjoyed the company of who we were dining with. Not to mention that Aki-san is quite entertaining in his own right. Note: There is only one service per evening so you will not feel rushed to eat and dash. We did not get out of there until 9:30pm. He also mentioned that starting in June they will be cutting back to two days a week - Friday and Saturday only - something to keep in mind. Will try our luck getting reservations again in about 7 months to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary.
