I think Yo Sushi is my favorite local place for lunch right now. It's conveniently located next to Fernandez park. In the same little shopping area, there's a massage place, a Korean restaurant, 2 bakeries, hair salon, and a boba shop. Parking is limited in the lot facing Sam Pablo, but there's two extra public lots in the back. Value wise, 2 item combo lunch for $17 and 3 item combo for $20 is such an amazing deal. I'm a big eater and I barely finish my food when I come here for the combo deals. I saw a sign that said 10% off for seniors, so I gotta bring my senior parents here sometime! A nice mom's relaxing day out for me is to go get a massage at Yu's, come here for lunch, and then get some boba at Quickly's and bakery items at Bear Claw to bring home. And I can do all of this in one location! read more

A fairly new addition to Old Town Pinole in August 2025. I hadn't been able to make it out here until a few weeks ago. Came here for a Friday lunch right around 12:20. Our server was very friendly but slightly overwhelmed by the nearly full restaurant. By the time we left, all the tables were full. We were here for lunch, so definitely wanted to check out the lunch special. For two of us, we got: Choice of 3 Items Lunch Kitchen Special with Tempura, Tonkatsu, and Sashimi. I liked the tempura and the tonkatsu was pretty good. This is an enormous amount of food for $19.95. Chirashi Lunch Donburi - 10 pieces of fish over a massive amount of rice. I tried to finish this and I think I was still full the next day. $19.95. The fish quality is pretty reasonable for the price that you're paying. Each lunch special also comes with miso soup and a small salad. I can see why Yo Sushi has become one of the more popular restaurants in this area. It's a lot of food for a decent price. We would definitely have this as one of our top lunch spots. read more

My husband brought some Yo Sushi home after I had bought myself a sad $5 sushi meal from a chain store. Well, let's just say that I devoured the Yo Sushi. It was so good. I ate part of his Rainbow Roll & Starry Night (I think it was called). So fresh, tasty, beautifully presented (even though it was to go!). We are getting some more today. I had to go back to have my favorite sushi. So I when today to yes! Yo Sushi I got there after 30 minutes after they opened. There was already 3 tables filled & a lot of phone orders. The place had on beautiful music for you to listen while your eating or waiting for your take out. You need to look at the Special Menu posted on the far wall as you enter then look at the menu before ordered & while I was waiting I took some pic's of what the chef's were doing! My order took about 15-20 minutes. The pics are in closed. The chief's are all like artists when they prepare your dishes. I hate to eat what I ordered but my mouth is watering to take my first bite. Oh it's so fresh. No matter if it's your first time or tenth time there proportions are very much the same. All I can say more is Yo Sushi is the place to eat at. Was craving Japanese today so we decided to try Yo Sushi for lunch. I ordered salmon belly sashimi for appetizer and the chirashi don bowl for my lunch entree. Wife order the 2 item lunch of tonkatsu and gyoza. Both lunch specials came with salad and miso soup. Everything was delicious and fresh! My salmon belly sashimi melted in my mouth and the chirashi bowl had so many slices of assorted tender and buttery slices of fish along with yummy tobiko over flavorful sushi rice. I would eat here all the time if I was local. My parents live in Richmond and I was looking for a place with cooked rolls as well as raw rolls to accommodate everyone's taste. I really liked the service. It felt warm, prompt. Space is sort of small and cozy. We got the Starry night roll: probably the best roll of the night. It has the citrus cream sauce that paired nicely with the salmon on top of it and the tempura shrimp inside was still warm when we bit in. Size was generous but not obnoxiously large the way some places are. Baked scallop roll: it's done competently and has a generous portion of scallop. Miso ramen: my stepmom got this and it was done well. Noodles had a bite to it the way I liked. It didn't feel like it came out of a package. We curated our food items to order, called over the phone, the host that helped us said it would be 40 minutes. We picked up the food and were surprised with the quality. I have been to the Yo Sushi in Albany, but this was my first time at the Pinole restaurant. My son ordered takeout and I went to pick it up. The restaurant is very clean and welcoming with Christmas lights and decorations. The service was very warm and welcoming. They even served me tea while I waited for my order. They were busy with orders for takeout and a few tables were occupied. Our takeout order of sushi came in a to go platter which was very nice. We got a large assortment of sushi and they were all tasty. I will have to try some of the other items on the menu. Wanted sushi that was close to home. Found it !! Restaurant had one other patron and a couple were placing orders to go Service was quick and easy. The menu is pretty extensive with reasonable prices and items for everyone. We ordered the golden gate, San Pablo Ave, spicy tuna and awesome rolls. All were delicious. The addition of red onion seemed to cut the richness of the rolls, while also adding a nice flavor and crunch. I had the seaweed salad, not as sweet as I'm used to but it was good. Nov 7 2025 1pm We finally stopped in for a sit down meal. The wait staff are sweet and the food presentation was awesome. I posted a couple of eye popper videos. Considering the times I feel like you get a good bang for your buck here. I'm looking forward to them getting their alcoholic beverage license. The only negative for me is the volume of the music they play. It may be turned up to mask the street noise but better to have more low volume speakers spread around than what seemed to be one loud one. Makes it hard to hold a conversation. read more

Our damage: *Shooting Star Spicy roll: my favorite of all of them! Yay another sushi spot in my hood! Although it's a chain, I was pretty impressed with the Yo Sushi that opened up in Pinole. I've been to the Vallejo one when I was younger and though it seemed like "takeout sushi" it was my quick fix for my sushi craving. Location is in a small plaza on San Pablo Ave in downtown Pinole. Small cute modern resto with very nice staff and very tasty rolls! The menu was pretty extensive - appetizers, sushi, bento boxes, udon/ramen. Hope they add green tea ice cream in the future. I ordered 2 rolls- they were delicious and aesthetically appealing. Their sushi chefs are Highly recommend the following: -Starry Night - shrimp tempura, crab, avocado, salmon and lemon slices -Ichiban- yellowtail, unagi, avocado, cucumber Prices were decent (cheaper and bigger than the rolls at the Happy Ramen and Sushi spot down the street) and the service was prompt. There are only a few tables in this very small restaurant. When I stopped in, they were busy, so rather than take a table that could seat more people, I ordered my meal to go. I ordered a combo of tuna sashimi, Saba nigri, and goza. The combo is served with rice, salad, and soup. The fish was fresh. The slices were thick. I suspected I tilted the plate, so the order was just a little mixed. I was disappointed that they did not put the soup and salad in the bag. served. Yo Sushi's are franchises. If I could rate this place a zero, I would. But I can't. I went to this restaurant tonight with my friends after our hike. The place was busy, but we signed in to wait. The reception person told us 20 mins. We stepped out and went to Quickly to wait for our call or text and never received one for over 40minutes. Went back to the restaurant and saw that another group was seated after us on the sign in sheet.. We asked what happened and the waitress didn't know what to say and said that the group that was seated was a group of 2, but I see another table for 2 that could have been pushed together with the other table that was given to the group of 2. We could have waited a little longer, but this server told us that they have a table outside that we can sit in, but she can't serve us. So what would be the point??? So I definitely do not recommend this place since the service is unreliable. My recommendation to the owner is to get a new server. read more

This cozy little sushi spot was such a pleasant experience I got so wrapped up catching up with an old friend I hadn't seen in ages that I became that annoying customer that wasn't ready to order and completely lost track of time. We even stayed well past closing, yet the staff and cook were some of the sweetest people ever. Ordered an almost perfect check for only $55! We ordered their agedashi tofu as an appetizer, their combination dinner and rainbow roll for entrees, and green tea cheesecake for dessert. They even serve complimentary hot tea which is perfect for the colder weather. On top of the affordability, the quality of the items were top tier. The fish was really fresh and everything came out steaming hot. The service was top notch as well with the servers ensuring drinks remained refilled and dishes bussed off the table. Now onto the food! We Ordered a Monkey Ball, an Awesome roll, and a lunch special to share between mom and I. Descriptions and what I thought below Monkey ball: spicy tuna and crab covered with avocado and deep fried! Delish! And a bit of a twist on the version they have in Alameda that i love. Awesome Roll: crab and deep fried shrimp inside. Unagi, spicy crab, avocado, ebi, green onion, tobiko. We made a slight adjustment and replaced the ebi with extra unagi for a dollar more. We both really enjoyed this roll. Lunch combo 3 items: Salmon Teriyaki- tasty Sashimi- great quality and yummy! California roll- tasty and not skimpy on filling like some places. I've been a loyal fan of Yo Sushi for years, especially their Martinez location, which has always been one of my go-to spots for fresh, flavorful sushi. I've recommended them to countless friends, so I was beyond thrilled to see they've opened a new location right here in Pinole! I visited the new Pinole location just days after they opened, and I'm happy to say the sushi is just as amazing as it's always been, fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and while they're still getting to know the flow and culture of Pinole, I have no doubt they'll find their rhythm soon. One suggestion that I think could be a wonderful fit: Pinole has a vibrant Saturday Farmers Market, and it would be fantastic if Yo Sushi could open earlier on Saturdays to catch that crowd. It would be such a treat for market-goers to stop by afterward and enjoy some excellent sushi just steps away. I would rate this restaurant 3.8 if not for my unagi roll. The unagi roll was disappointing since I could not really taste the unagi. It had more avocado than unagi. If this was improved I could go to a rating of 4. We came at lunch time around 12:20 pm. The staff was friendly and took our order immediately. There are seats for up to 35 people where you could seat 1-4 people easily. For larger groups you may need to put tables together. We ordered vegetable tempura for appetizer - the batter was light and crispy and the vegetable was cooked just right. We tried one order of saba nigiri, this was fresh and had 3 pieces for the serving. We ordered spicy tuna roll, rock and roll (unagi roll) and poki roll, and spicy hamachi roll. All the rolls were fresh and delicious and the presentation was so nice. I also liked the seaweed salad and micro greens they used with the rolls. My only disappointment was the rock and roll (it needed more unagi). I will be back to try other items on the menu and hopefully the rock and roll will improve read more

Seen this new Japanese spot open up and I needed to try it out for lunch. Not a very big place for big groups. Good for small groups and get togethers. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is nice and clean. I ordered Chirashi ($18.95), Sashimi over sushi rice. Comes with miso soup and salad.
