Food: The noodles are very average here. We tried the Chongqing Noodles and the Zhajiang (meat sauce) Noodles ($10) each. The flavors were good, but there are better noodle places in NYC than this one. The noodle texture wasn't anything special or impressive. It would be nice if the zhajiang noodles came with more meat sauce. Portions are also on the smaller side. Overall, I wasn't impressed. They also offer appetizers and jianbing on the menu. Service: You order your food at the register, and they'll bring it to you at your table. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Ambiance: The place is small with tables and seating for small groups. I wouldn't come here with a large group. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place and likely won't be returning. read more

A place that serves very simple noodle soups. The price isn't very cheap given how barebones the noodle soup is but nevertheless, it taste good. Service is fast and minimal as to what they do for you. The location is at a quiet place out out of the semi busy Grand street but a nice place to relax and slowly eat your lunch. read more

What a great spot for jianbing or jian bing, a well-loved Chinese savory crepe. Wider filling selection than other spots, with seven different options. Have had Jian Bing elsewhere and this was by far the best--not too much sauce, light-textured egg, crispy fish and fresh vegetables for a great crunch. Must try for jianbing. So delicious. My friend and I went for a very late breakfast. I had the beef jian bing, she tried the pork belly jian bing. We both absolutely loved it. The portion was very generous and the price was very reasonable. We both left with happy bellies lol. Everyone in there was very friendly. The inside is tiny but very clean. It was seriously delicious. I've never tried jian bing before and I definitely want to again. read more

Delicious jian bing and duck bao! I loved how crunchy the jian bing was and it had a good balance of being flavorful without being salty. The duck bao was so soft. Yiwanmen is one of my favorite casual noodle restaurants in all of Manhattan Chinatown. Specializing in Sichuan cuisine, its noodles are consistently delicious, with fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors. The establishment is relatively small with a few tables, but clean and large enough to accommodate my daughter in her large stroller when we visited Yiwanmen on a Saturday around noon. Whether for dining in or delivery, my favorite dishes are the fish noodle soup with mala sauce and their signature Chongqing red oil noodle. The noodles are perfectly chewy, broth savory, and portions generously sized. Although their jian bing was very good, I was disappointed to find that the "sausage" was really just hot dog. While hot dogs are ubiquitous as a street snack in China, I was hoping for something less...processed and more akin to Chinese sausage. Even so, Yiwanmen is a staple for us in the noodle genre in Chinatown, especially given the quality and affordability. read more

Got the Chongqing red oil noodle soup. You order at the front and it is cheaper if you pay in cash! The noodle soup was delicious -- the perfect dish for cold, gloomy weather. Really liked the fact that the peanuts added a nice texture contrast to the rest of the noodle soup. Prices are great, too, and amount was very filling. After walking by this spot several times, I finally came in for a try. Their menu is simple - noodles, and some sides. Prices are pretty low, but portions aren't crazy big (definitely still sufficient for a meal though). Everything was pretty yummy. The soup was savory, and I really like the Jian Bing. The mango basil tea was sooo good. Their Meng Meng tea was super sweet - I wouldn't recommend unless you love SWEET drinks. The duck bao was good, but I've had better baos. Overall, nice spot! My friend insisted we try an authentic Jianbing while in NY which led us to Yiwanmen. We were greeted warmly with an elegant storefront and friendly service. The staff were welcoming and patient while we figured out our order. Once we ordered, we enjoyed a quick chat while they prepared our order fresh. Within minutes, we had freshly made breakfast ready for a great price. Now, arguably the most important part: how did it taste? The answer is simple, absolutely delicious. By far one of the BEST breakfast items I've had. Flavorful barely begins to describe it. There is an excellent blend of texture and flavor that is perfect for a crisp morning in NY. I would highly recommend everyone to give this restaurant a shot as I know the Jianbing was just scratching the surface. This is actually a hidden gem to me. I do archery nearby and have become a regular here. Perfect to go with a friend or two. It's got a small mom and pop vibe to it. And even if you're solo, they have a bar off to the side you can sit at. When I'm in a rush, I'll stop by and order a jian bing. I've tried the beef and fish ones and have loved them so far. Particularly the fish. They've got nutritious, homey tasting noodles like the wonton or pork belly noodle soup for when I'm not feeling well. If I had to pick between the two it'd be pork belly. Yiwanmen (translates to one bowl of noodles in English) is a small family-owned restaurant in Chinatown. The storefront is tiny and only have 4 tables and some window seating. You order by the front then grab a table. The lady in the front who you order with will also bring you your food. Menu is not that elaborate -- about 8 noodle options and some buns / pancake selections. I couldn't decide whether to order the Chongqing noodles or the hot & spicy intestines noodles, but ultimately decided to try the Chongqing noodles since it seemed to be their signature. We also ordered the hot braised beef noodle. Our order didn't take long to arrive. First sip of broth and was disappointed by the lack of spiciness for both bowls of noodles even though it's supposed to be spicy noodles. We added some chili oil, which is on every table for use, but that didn't really do much for knocking up the spice level. Overall, while I was disappointed about the level of spice, I did enjoy the flavor of the broth and noodles. It was a delicious and affordable lunch for under $10/bowl of noodles -- which is what I love about Chinatown, especially during a time of inflation and rising food costs. I do recommend this noodle shop to those who want to enjoy a bowl of noodles without the spicy kick. If you're a spice lover, look somewhere else. read more

My girlfriend and I saw this place while walking and went inside on a whim. It's a very cozy spot with Mandopop playing in the background. We only got their jianbing with crispy fritters (the classic way it's made) and the lady behind the counter was nice enough to split it in half for us. The jianbing was delicious with nice crunch from the fritters and pickled veggies, and when you add their chili oil thats available on the tables, the spicyness takes it to the next level. Next time I would definitely go back for their noodles which look delicious as well. read more

I had the Pork Floss Jian Bing, which was good, but not the best one I've had. I think it could've been a bit more substantial. My partner had the Pork Belly Bao and the Pork and Chive Dumplings. Visited this shop after craving some good ole Asian food and I will say this shop definitely satisfied! It's a cute lil shop with VERY affordable prices (bowl of noodles was $9) in the NY area. Overall the noodles were good but i would say the flavor can be a little richer for the beef noodle. I was wondering around looking for something to eat and decided to come here for jiang bing. I had one with duck before but it wasn't on the menu so I asked. They said they could make it so I ordered two. I was shocked when she said it was $29. I had to ask a few times because the others ones were $6-9. I paid cash since card would be charged another 3.5%. I ate mine as soon as it was ready. It was delicious. I decided to try this place today, I got the Duck Jian Bing. Having had good Jian Bing in Shanghai and one place in Flushing, I am usually skeptical. This place has REALLY good Jian Bing, the duck is incredible tender and juicy. The contrast of it to the Crispy Wonton makes for a great combo. This is definitely the best Jian Bing in Manhattan by far. The duck one is NOT on the menu, you have to specifically ask for it. It will come out to $13. Very high, but very worth it. read more

What a delicious and warm little pocket of yumminess that you can carry in your hands! My sister and I had the beef slice (B5) jian bing. It was so tasty! The egg wrap had the perfect thickness. I feel like sometimes when it's too thick it becomes too much egg. The Hoisin sauce wasn't overpowering either. I also really liked the crispy fritter thing stuffed in the middle. Of course, the rest of the filling was the perfect complement, too. I am interested in trying some other flavors. Solid Chinese noodle place! Very small shop with 3-4 benches as seating and a semi private seating area in the back. The shop was quite clean and brightly lit, and when I went on a Tuesday night at 6:30 there weren't many people there. I ordered the chongqing noodles (spicy oil, lettuce, preserved mustard, and pork) for $9, which was really worth it! I came here for dinner on a Thursday night with my sister. They had noodles, jianbing, and baos. There was more seating than I expected. You order at the cashier and they bring your order to you on a tray. We shared the pork belly bao, the duck bao, and wonton noodle soup. I enjoyed the wonton noodle soup the most since it was a large portion. The wontons tasted homemade and the noodles were not overcooked or undercooked. The baos were okay, do feel like the bao buns were not that fresh. I liked the duck bao more than the pork belly bao since it had veggies in it so there was a good crunch. The prices were not bad compared to other places. Also, the portions were larger than I expected. Service was friendly and fast. I love this place and have been here a few times now. It's comfortable and service and food are all great! I always get the minced beef noodle soup and I'm never disappointed. My boyfriend has tried a variety of other dishes from here but always says the minced beef one is best. So if you're going to come here, just order what I did and you won't be disappointed. The potato dish was decent not amazing, but it's a nice wash of flavor in case you want to balance the amazing flavors from the noodle soup with something a bit plainer. I had the mixed seafood noodle (thin rice noodle) soup for lunch today. The soup looked little like the picture advertisement for this soup in the restaurant's window menu. The picture showed in shell half clams and whole prawns in the soup while the bowl I got only had a few cleaned deveined shrimp, squid and fish cake. The overall soup was large and filling but the broth in the soup was very very bland and flavorless and very disappointing. The seafood was frozen and chewy but they did tell me before I ordered that the seafood would be from frozen. The overall problem was the watery bland soup stock which leads me to an opinion I wouldn't return. Everything was clean and I didn't get sick but the watery bland broth was a great disappointment! In addition the condiments to add to the soup were poor tasting including the red pepper paste which also lacked flavor. I hope the restaurant takes me seriously and learns how to create a slow cooked flavorful soup broth. Too bad but I won't be a return customer. read more

I failed to read my receipt wrong and forgot to add enough for tip and was reminded to by the manager which I thought was a bit odd. I don't mind providing tip, which It would have been easy to if their systems were working, but I don't like when a restaurant begs for it when you could pay your workers a fair wage. I would come back, but please don't beg for tip especially when it's difficult to do so.

Got off the E train and when we looked for Chinese food, this place popped up with good reviews and it was just a short walk from where we got off the train. My buddies ordered the special lunches and we also got two types of xlb's, beef chow fun, and some fried dumplings. The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. Bathroom was also very clean, which is sometimes rare in some Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal, stop here when you're in the Chelsea area.

The place was pretty busy at 10:00 PM last Saturday, with a wide range of diners, which is good for business. The food though, at least that night, was really disappointing. My friend had the chicken dumplings. He said they were okay. I thought they were overcooked. My steamed shrimp shumai were fine, but steamed, they didn't have much flavour. The edamame, on the other hand, had way too much when it should have almost none. I don't know if it was excess salt, MSG or something else, but not good. I should have sent them back. I hope this was just an off night for the kitchen.

The other colleague ordered shrimp and broccoli but wanted it spicy with veggie fried rice, and I ordered the shrimp with garlic sauce with pork fried rice and an order of fried chicken wings. The service was good and the food was piping hot. Everyone was happy with their meal. Plus, they give you a lot of food. I had plenty to take home. I would come back and try some other things.

As a Chinese person I'd never really pay these prices for this kind of food which I can get for much better at authentic local restaurants in Queens, Brooklyn or Chinatown. That said, I can see the intrigue to celebrate a birthday or event here because it's very photogenic and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The noodles and rice dishes were fine; nothing amazing or horrible necessarily. And the mocktail was good but small and not worth $12 per in my opinion! Overall, I wouldn't come back and recommend this place to any Asians but it's very pretty.

Not the biggest portion but they made every single component sing with flavor. With so much going on - of course I needed to indulge with another drink (hey, I wasn't driving!). There were six of us, it came to about $100 a person... welcome to NYC. But we did get a wide selection of plates/food and those two drinks accounted for about $40 of my tab. (And you'll never see such a heavy wine pour at a restaurant... they filled the glass almost to the rim - which was not even something I'd do for myself when I'm home.) Definitely recommended.

However, they were pretty small and I finished my drink in 5 sips. I loved the trio dishes app which allowed me to try a variety of authentic cold dishes. The soup was creamy, rich, and had high quality seafood in it like abalone and sea urchin. The truffle beef had a really good strong truffle flavor and the sticky rice with lobster had nice crunchy bits of rice in it. The lobster could've had a bit more flavor and a nicer fried coasting on the shell. For the beef dish, they gave so little beef for an entree that is $46 on the menu. We could count the amount of beef cubes while the rest of the dish was mushrooms and onions. The dish was also not even filled. Half the plate was empty when it came out to our table. It felt like a rip off. Their desserts come from the amazing Bibble & Sip a couple blocks away, so they're gorgeous and tasty of course. However, you can get them at Bibble & Sip for face value price.
