I went to the Oakland museum and remember eating here last time I came. I stopped again. I ordered the beef chowfun. It was good. I came in and right away was sat. I got a booth looking outside the window window. There's plenty table chair/booth seating.

I went to Oakland Chinatown to pick-up some groceries with a friend of mine. We decided to have lunch in Chinatown and saw Ying Kee. I ordered green beans with pork over steamed rice. My buddy ordered Shrimp Won Ton Mein. My rice plate was delicious, tasty gravy, soft pieces of pork and fresh semi-crunchy green beans. My buddy liked his shrimp won ton mein soup with egg noodles and bean sprouts. I tried one of the shrimp won ton. I like that the shrimp was minced into the meat and had good flavor. I used to eat at King Wah back in the day but sadly they closed over several years ago. I'm going to go back to Ying Kee and try other dishes, they may become my Go To restaurant in Oakland Chinatown. For pretty good Chinese food and service try Ying Kee.

387 9th St Oakland, CA 94607 Ying Kee is an old school Chinese restaurant in the heart of Oakland Chinatown. I was walking by on a chilly day, and decided to go in for a hot bowl of Wor Won Ton Soup. The lady was on the phone, and she waved me in and told me to sit anywhere. The interior is outdated and a bit of a dive. I could tell this was a legit chinese restaurant because there were no forks on the tables. I ordered Wor Won Ton Soup, Potstickers, and hot tea. Service was quick and attentive. I was served Seafood Wor Won Ton Soup. Price $13.50. Just one look told me I should of ordered something else. Maybe I should of asked for noodles? Not much for $13.50. Maybe 5 dumplings, regular broccoli, fish cakes, fish balls, and some pieces of fish. The potstickers looked exactly like the frozen ones I got from Amazon Fresh. Total bill: $21. Will I return? Yes, I will return and order something like Tomato Beef Chow Mein, and see how it turns out. Hopefully I have a better experience. Street parking

House soup - broth with some carrots and a few pieces of pork

We ordered take out from the 3 dishes for $38.99 menu. We've walked by this place several times and decided to try it. We ordered: 1) tofu and mushrooms and bok choy, only disappointment was how few mushrooms there were (maybe 6 pieces) 2) eggplant with pork - not bad if you like eggplant, good portion of pork 3) salt and pepper fish - tasty but only about 12 pieces of fish Order included house soup which was broth with some carrots and a pieces of oxtail. Broth could use a little more flavor for my test. For $38.99 (not including tax) - it's not a bad deal. The menu has quite a few options and we had a tough time picking 3 dishes. We cooked our own rice to supplement. We would probably try it again and pick some other dishes. It was after 1:00 on a Sunday and it was about a 10-15 minute wait -not too bad since there were about 12 other customers eating in the restaurant. Lady serving us was nice.

We went to Oakland Chinatown for the street event. First time to this restaurant. They're famous making their own noodles. We ordered wonton noodles soup and shrimp dumplings noodles soup. Noodles were little soft. But soup was tasty and wonton was good.

I come here pretty frequently and I usually the chao chow ho fun. One reason I come here if the low price and nice staff. It's not too busy in here so you won't feel rushed and can enjoy your food at a slow pace without needed to rush. The portions are also pretty big for the price. You would probably pay around $15+ anywhere else. However, you do get what you pay for. The soup is bland and doesn't have any flavor, you have to season it yourself with the condiments at the table. Other than that the rest of the dish is flavored and delicious, you just need to season the soup yourself. The variety of meat balls give different textures with the fish ones being softer and the beef balls having more of a bite to them. My favorite part of this dish is of course the kidney. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea but it's delicious to me. It's not metallic at all and has a nice bite to it. I would recommend this dish for sure!

经济实惠 而且好吃 环境也好 我们点了扬州炒饭和特价6块的猪肝粥 虽然6块但是特大一碗 很好 回常来 This is a great restaurant. Very budget friendly without sacrificing taste or portion size. I recommend their daily specials and fried rice. Will come back again

Small Cantonese mom and pop restaurant in Oakland Chinatown across from the large mall/condos complex. They have a wide variety of choices, including dishes I haven't seen elsewhere. There are pictures on the wall of food dishes. Prices are reasonable. Food is a little greasy, service is quick. Good for a quick meal.

Food: 3/5 Service/Wait: 4/5 Price/Value: 4/5 Atmosphere/Uniqueness: 4/5 Visited Ying Kee Restaurant, a family-owned spot for Chinese cuisine. The famous item on the menu is the Shrimp Dumpling Soup. In the past, it was really good. However, it seems they have changed the recipe and now no longer is very good. While the Shrimp Dumpling Soup fell short in taste and texture, the welcoming service, fair prices, and cozy atmosphere make it a place worth considering, especially to support a local Asian owned establishment. Shrimp Dumpling Soup Rating: 3/5 The Shrimp Dumpling Soup was average, lacking depth in flavor and seasoning. It was full of bamboo shoots and not a lot of shrimp. The noodles were okay, but that was the only saving grace of this dish.

They close super early, so get there in time for take out for dinner (I think they close at like 6?) Parking is an actual nightmare unless you're willing to pay or walk. But that's China Town for you. Service is fast and friendly. I like that they let me practice my Mandarin. It can feel a little crowded at times, but that's the price you pay for really good food.

Getting right to it, 4 stars because it's so affordable! However, there are some things I want to…read morepoint out that would actually make this spot more of a 3 star visit. 1. The attached parking garage charges $2/every half hour. Granted, this is no where near SF parking rates, it's still an additional fee. Street parking is super hard to find, and the streets are hectic, but you can test your luck (and patience). They use little tokens now that you have to pay for before exiting. Make sure you hold onto it because a lost token will run you $48 for the day rate. 2. The spot is poppin. It's not a complaint, that's a great thing! However it's really small inside so if there's a wait, you do have to line up in a single file line along a divider wall, where you can watch diners eat. Right next to you is the take out line for BBQ orders. It can get really claustrophobic. Tables do move fast as they're quick to bring out food, however you may be asked to just share a table with someone else. They have a couple round tables for the communal dining, or larger groups (up to 8). This is an ideal spot for 2-4 people. 6+ may cause you to wait longer for seating. 3. The tap water tastes kind of weird. They bring you a hot cup of tea too but the herbal taste is a bit too strong for me. 4. The bbq items are just okay :( I did a 3 item bbq combo with rice for about $21. You get a generous portion of meat, rice and a few pieces of steamed Chinese broccoli (gai lan). No sauce to dip or anything, but they do have a black bean sauce on the table to use. The sauce is pretty salty though, so just keep that in mind when you're adding it on. No spicy condiments on the table unfortunately. The duck was decent, but the bbq pork was a bit too lean for me. It wasn't overly sweet though so that was nice. The roast pork wasn't crunchy at all!! For some reason, they thin sliced it, instead of cut it into cubes. I love roast pork for the crunch so this was disappointing. The skin was more chewy than crunchy. All of the meats were tender though! 5. Fresh shrimp rice roll was hot and steamy and the price is cheaper than some dim sum spots ($7.50 for this one i think). However, you also get less shrimp. The sauce poured on was also kinda thin, and not sweet or umami enough. The rice roll itself had a good chew though, silky but a little thick. It holds up well while eating. The proportion go shrimp to rice noodle is waaaay off though. 6. Wonton noodle soup was good! This seemed like the crowd favorite as most everyone ordered this. The noodle could have had a bit more chew to it, but the wontons were bouncy and the broth comforting. You get a couple pieces of chinese broccoli with this too which is nice. The service was efficient and our main server was nice. She spoke english and actually smiled back. They take card payment too, so that's convenient. You really get some bang for your buck here, but I'd probably stick to taking food to go.

My sister had remembered an article in the SF Chronicle's Food section which ranked Misty's Tasty as "top-ranked" and "best, authentic dim sum in the East Bay". This time, we ordered a few dishes to try - the classic sesame paste noodles, Shan Dong chicken, the fried rice with shrimp, and the hot spicy eggplant. Since we did order delivery on a busy Saturday night, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was expertly packed and we were given plenty of utensils and napkins. The sesame paste noodles are one of my favorite dishes here, there's a balance of sweet and salty offered in the creamy sesame paste sauce that's so addicting. I've always been a big fan of the hand-pulled noodles which are thick, bouncy and chewy. The Shan Dong chicken is deep fried and coated in a delicious sauce. It is more of the sweeter side if you're looking for something that's spicy. I appreciate that we were given large pieces as well! The fried rice with shrimp is amazing - I love the crunch of the green onion, the softness of the fried egg, and the texture of the rice and veggies which weren't soggy and still held a nice bite. Last but not least, the hot spicy eggplant was a great choice because it's usually the trickier dish to cook as eggplant can turn really soft and mushy. I was delighted that with the way it was prepared, the large eggplant pieces still held a tender texture that did not fall apart. I also enjoyed the sauce that was paired with the eggplant, which is oyster-sauce based and added a pleasant sweetness as well. I'm always looking forward to my next visit and I love supporting Shan Dong!

Mei and the other woman who works here treat my elderly dad (who has Alzheimer's and dementia) like family; whenever I visit him, he wants to come here for his "shrimp dinner" so like clockwork we come. Everything from rushing to open the door to help is in with my dad's wheelchair to talking with him in his native Cantonese, to serving him special soup that we didn't even ask for speaks volumes about how much they care for him. While we're there, we see them interacting with all the other customers who come in. They genuinely seem to enjoy their guests, and Mei always sends them off by saying, "See you soon. Tomorrow, right? I see you tomorrow?" The food is great also (shrimp in lobster sauce is my dad's single favorite dish -- great shrimp with thin slices of meltingly soft pork with onions, sweet red and green peppers in magic brown sauce) but Mei and her coworkers will win over your hearts. If I could rate more than 5 stars I would. (One tip: bring a jacket -- it can get chilly in there!)

The char siu bao had very little filling, mostly just stringy onion with barely any pork. The egg rolls were small and tasted off. The potstickers had an unpleasant smell. The vegetable buns went untouched by the whole group. I spent close to $100 and had high hopes for this order. I gave the restaurant advance notice about the size of the order and dietary restrictions, so I was surprised by the quality. I have photos of the items if needed. I want to be fair maybe this was an off day. But for a large order placed in advance, I expected more care and consistency. I would not order from here again for a group event.

After walking around to visit the many vendors, I decided to have lunch at Yung Kee on the corner of 9th & Webster Streets. One of my friends has dined here and recommended this restaurant for lunch. After perusing the menu, the choices were narrowed to chicken congee or shrimp and scrambled eggs over rice. The congee would have been good and the weather was cool. However, the last time I had shrimp and scrambled eggs over rice was at a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco near my job in the Civic Center area over 12 years ago. Eats: shrimp and scrambled eggs over rice and a pot of hot tea. Drizzled with some soy sauce, my dish was delicious. The hot tea was perfect, flavorful and soothing when I drank about 5 cups. This was total comfort food and beverage that I almost doze off in the restaurant. For $15, it was a good deal. The only drawback was one of the employees was mopping the floor when I was eating my lunch. I will return in the future to have lunch again. I might even order food to go for dinner.
