I told myself that I would never go back to Yetters Diner after the horrible roast beef I had two years ago. It was so tough I almost chipped a tooth on the gristle. Well, here we are two years later. I wanted breakfast so I tried 4 other diners. They were either too packed or closed. I had no choice but to go to Yetters. Nobody greeted me, I sat down and waited for 5 minutes before my server arrived. I ordered and the food did come out hot and within time but I finished my coffee 1/2 way through my meal and was not offer another cup. Not even if I wanted to pay for it. The service was just as rude, slow and terrible as I remembered itfrom my leather roast beef meal. Go to Hampton Diner, Sparta Diner or Jefferson Diner before you make the mistake I did. I just hope my memory stays clear so I don't do this again. The really sad thing is that I think the owners really don't care. What a shame. read more

My girlfriend & I went for lunch. Been going there for 25 yrs. Never a problem until today. She got a breakfast lunch which she loved. I ordered a cup of soup which was very salty & I love salt. I ordered a veggie paini. The bread was thick & tasteless & I could put all the veggies in the palm of my hand! The waitress, Tina V., was awful. Totally ignored us. We are very polite women. I had to remind her about bringing my soup. She never came back to check on us. BUT, she sure catered to the men in the booths & men at the counter!!! I'm a very big tipper. She got zero! I never not tipped.. Then I was told she's been there forever. She's not very old but if she doesn't enjoy waiting on women, you're in the wrong business. read more

Finally stopped in! Been driving by for decades. Yetter's is an old school diner. And I love that! It's clean! That's good! We had breakfast. My BLT was really good! With big juicy Jersey tomatoes! We just had the most unappealing and subpar lunch! So very disappointed! I ordered the spinach pie, it looked and tasted as if it were made several days ago. It was greasy, soggy and the spinach was brown. Let's talk about the silverware that had someone's breakfast still on it and the second fork was worse than the first! We arrived at 10:30 and they only had a breakfast menu. Isn't the beauty of a diner that you can order whatever you want, whenever you want? Large portions and the coffee was pretty good, but my omelette was dry and my wife's bacon was a little sad looking. My Father-in-law demonstrated his short arms and long pockets when he took my wife and I, as well as my brother-in-law and his girlfriend out to dinner here. First of all, when asking for drinks I ordered an egg cream and was given a glass of milk with soda water in it, when I said an egg cream should have syrup I was told I should have asked for a "chocolate egg cream" despite the fact an egg cream always has chocolate syrup in my experience - Who on earth would want plain milk and soda water? My wife was also offered a refill by the waitress, but instead of giving her more lemonade, she just filled it up to the top with soda water, ruining the whole glass. When the food arrived, things got even worse. My vegetarian wife found a lump of chicken in her veggie panini, the pasta was overcooked and flavourless, and my own grilled cheese was made with kraft singles with no other option offered either by the waitress or on the menu. The Coleslaw we were all given as sides was watery and unpleasant. Honestly, it seems like this place is just banking on getting customers in one time each and ripping them off as much as possible for the most cheaply produced food that exists. I don't know if the chef has any ability, but the menu is clearly way too large and is forcing them to use frozen ingredients to be able to deal with it. Without a major overhaul of the menu and a reopening where they promise more, I will definitely not be returning Yetter's Diner. If my cheapskate father-in-law decides to take us there again, my wife and I have decided we'd rather stay at home with a takeaway pizza or chinese. read more

It took over an hour to get my appetizers. When I finally got them they were cold. I sent them back only to get it back slightly burnt. I ordered a burger which tasted old And fell apart in the bun. The waitress was either new or unfocused she kept forgetting things. At one point she said "I feel like such a jerk". I spent the car ride explaining to my 8 year old what "jerk" meant because he kept asking. He could not understand why someone would call themselves a "bad word". I spent over $50 here including tip. Order the BBQ if it happens to be on the menu of the day. It is the real deal, smoked in a smoker slow and sublime. We tried the both the beef brisket and the pulled pork and both were delicious. This BBQ is the best within miles and, ironically, can be found in a diner. In fact, Montague's Smokin Steve's with Yetter's Diner dethrone Texas Smoke BBQ to become the 2013 Champions of the Grill. I don't think I'd call Yetter's "above-average" like Sven... but average is probably fair. Some things are better than others, so I recommend scoping out what the locals are ordering if you're a newbie... there's a core group of people who go to Yetter's every day of the week, and they'll know the menu better than anyone else. Breakfast was always a safe choice there, and the home fries were amazingly addictive after a late night. One of the brilliant things about NJ diners is the ability to order whatever you want at any hour of the day. Breakfast at midnight? Sure! Service can be hit or miss. I've had some awesome waitresses take my order, and I've had some who looked like they just sucked on a lemon the entire night and barely said "hello" or "thank you". Pretty typical of diners, I think. While I'd probably give the food 3 stars at Yetter's... the place is getting an extra one tacked on for nostalgia. After seeing the light show across the street, my family and I decided to stop here for a late dinner. Food was ok...butter tasted weird? Unsalted maybe? If it's a burger you want, go up Rte 206 about 4-5 miles to Culver's Lake and stop at Jumboland. Yetters has gone downhill. Sad. Yetters never was good--it was average in the past. It's slipped quite a distance from that in recent years. The food is horrible, the décor dated, the service indifferent, slow, and often unprofessional. The Italian part of the menu is an "egg noodles and ketchup" style...the raviolis are mush, the pasta aged and stale, the sauces very heavy on that watered-down Heinz taste and consistency. Burgers...they redefine what it means to screw up a burger. My fiancée (who is the least picky eater I know) ordered it cooked medium, had to send hers back twice...once overcooked, the second attempt came out severely undercooked...the third time, at least it wasn't red and bloody and she ate half. I used to go here a lot as a kid, but returning to the area I went twice...both times disappointed. If you bring friends from out-of-town to this place, you deserve to have them look at you and question your taste. That one star above....like the SAT giving you credit for spelling your name correctly...is just because the place is open and has tables...and mints at the register. read more

Yesterday we ate a late afternoon dinner there and all aspects were great. We each ordered a daily special (mine was the stuffed shells parmesan - and my husband's was a dish with chicken, shrimp, portobello mushrooms, broccoli & ziti). For $3 extra/person, there was the option of also getting a small salad or a cup of soup (one of those already came with the dinners), a vegetable (we each chose the broccoli & cheese) and a dessert (the dessert choices were limited to four, although one of them was my "obsession" dessert [bread pudding]). We'd noticed that they had pumpkin cheesecake and I asked if it was possible to pay extra to get that for one of the desserts, and indeed we were only charged $2 extra (and it was certainly worth the cost). All of the portions were generous (we brought home the vegetables & desserts and ate them today) and everything was delicious. Got the smoked pulled pork (limited time dish) and gyro. Didn't taste the gyro or its accompanying salad, but the gf liked it. However, the smoked pulled pork sandwich was completely and oddly dry, including the coleslaw in it. Not sure if this is normal as I've never had pulled pork that was explicitly called "smoked", but it wasn't very pleasant to eat. I ended up adding in the fresh coleslaw side and requesting barbecue sauce to drench the meat in. Also, the included stuffed jalapeño was mostly flavorless. Stopped here on a rainy Saturday night with my dad. It wasn't that busy so I was a little skeptical. My brother lives in the area and told me the food is good. He was right. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the chicken cheese steak wrap with fries and my dad ordered a cheeseburger and fries. My wrap was hot, fresh and big. The fries were good and so was the coleslaw and pickle. My dad's burger looked good and he said it was very tasty. I've eaten at New Jersey diners for over 30 years and this experience was right up there with the best of them. The menu has many choices and I hear the Bbq is great. Haven't really had any good experiences here. Came here as a last resort because the chatterbox was jam packed. My time spent here would have been decent if I didn't have to wait 40 mins for a half a BLT & a small soup. My friend ordered a veggie burger with sweet potato fries. There was about 4 other small groups of ppl there... place was not packed or busy at all. Within the 40 minutes of waiting we didn't see the waitress at all.... not to let us know the status of our meal... not even to refill our drinks. They have friendly staff, and reasonable prices. We were seated quickly, but someone dropped the ball... either the waitress forgot to put our order in, or the cook forgot to make the food. It took over half an hour to get two burgers and a salad. The waitress did come by after about twenty minutes and told us it would only be another minute.
