Tacos, Al Pastor, pollo and steak!!!
Dani G.

Yetla's never disappoint with authenticity. Love their food, makes me feel cozy and full just how I like it when I cook a meal. Their soup, tostadas and tacos are my fav to order.

Al Pastor Burrito Bowl

Authentic Mexican flavor and fresh ingredients in a cozy luncheonette-type space. Very accommodating staff. I have particularly enjoyed the burrito bowls and tortas. Also offer a variety of hot sauces for those who like spice.

Tacos..YUM Carnitas, steak and chicken
Maria S.

Great little mom-and-pop shop with some wonderful Mexican and American items on their menu. Such friendly staff also. The cookies that they sell are homemade and absolutely fantastic my recommendation is the oatmeal raisin so crispy and chewy on the inside. There is also a custard-like dessert which we tried and it was very delicious not too sweet just perfect. I cannot wait to try all of their tacos. The day I went was one of their first days being open and they only took cash and I did not have much on me so I will definitely be back

Chicken Mole Special

Always good, but the chicken mole special was amazing. Super tender chicken and flavorful mole sauce.

Birria quesadilla

First time trying and was a little nervous because a lot of Mexican restaurants are a hit or miss. I ordered a birria quesadilla and it was delicious! Great amount of food for the price and everything was super flavorful! The wait time was short and service was friendly and quick. Will definitely be coming back to try more things on the menu. So glad to have this great restaurant in my neighborhood!!

Playa Taqueria - CHICKEN NACHOS nixtamal corn chips, black beans, house made queso, crema, salsa verde pico de gallo, guacamole (optional)

I really wanted to love this place but was disappointed. I'm…read morea Texas girl so when I saw queso on the menu, I got excited but so sad that it was room temperature, almost cold and mind you, I ate at the restaurant. Flavor was good but why was it not hot, not even warm! The guacamole tasted good and fresh. The tortilla chips were my fav kind so happy about that. I also got a burrito and again, disappointed. At least it was hot but like 75% rice, 25% protein. No cheese, no crema and no salsa like the menu says and I think there was a teaspoon of pico de gallo in there too. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where they don't serve you salsa on the side or on the table, this was crazy. Positives, the tortilla was good and so was the rice, both seemed homemade. But come on - this totally ruined my first experience.

This was a pleasant stop. My top-tier chum and I came by this past Saturday around noon for some…read moremuch needed sustenance during the Montclair Town-wide Yard Sale (which I honestly thought was terrible - if you don't have kids, you were not finding much beyond moldy pogo sticks and tattered luggage sets. Dark times.). Apparently there was also a sidewalk sale going on in Upper Montclair so it was definitely on the crowded side when we wandered over but we were still able to secure parking about a block away. Deliciously uneventful. Despite the congestion in the surrounding area, Playa Taqueria wasn't too busy - there were a few people seated outside, but otherwise we were able to walk right up to the counter and order. My favorite part of this experience by far was that Playa let you kind of mix and match/build your own. I'm very picky when it comes to Mexican because I don't like crunchy shizzle in my food (which is kind of a calling card of the genre) so a lot of times I'm out once pico de gallo or whatever automatically gets involved. Despite several items not being to my liking in the official quesadilla description, I was able to pivot and order a very basic version of it, with just chicken, cheese and a guac add-on. (After making an enormous deal of ordering off menu, the woman behind the counter listened to my order, nodded slowly and said, "...so you want a chicken quesadilla." I may have blown the situation out of proportion.) The quesadilla was very good. It was definitely made to order, so it came out several minutes after my chum's meal (a bowl of nachos or something that was housed quickly). It's not a formal restaurant by any stretch so the disparate arrival times to me aren't a big deal, especially when you're getting a better quality meal being made right then and then. It was a LITTLE too cheesy for me (absolutely dictionary definition nitpick), and it's wild to me that queso is one of the typical ingredients in this dish; I can't even imagine the cheese overload in that scenario. But the chicken was very flavorful and I was pleased that the guac was a legit portion (an item in my experience where you really have to pull teeth to get more than a very small spoonful, even if you're already paying extra for it). The restaurant (at least the front end) was being handled by a handful of young women, all of whom were very nice. The one at the register who dealt with my order specifically deserves top marks for dealing with my high maintenance behavior capably and ably. I also didn't think the price point was too bad - the obvious chain comp for me would be something like a Bubakoo's, which is definitely a step or two below this and really greasy. I think you're getting better food for roughly the same cost, which I'll always take in a heartbeat. I can't recommend the Town-Wide Yard Sale this year, but I do recommend this place.

I recently learned of Oso Felipe on social media and thought it seemed like a cool spot. Then, I…read morenoticed that they were having a Mexican spirits tasting event, which sounded like a fun adventure and a great time to visit. We took a rideshare out there and were dropped off in front of the massive restaurant. We walked inside and were in awe of its trendy, modern Mexican vibe. The main floor offered a dining room and large bar, but we were told to head downstairs for the event. The sprawling basement offered two party rooms, the larger of which included a bar and was where we were sitting. These rooms seemed underdone and unfinished in comparison to the well-decorated upstairs, which might have been because the restaurant was on the newer side. The tasting was to include six samples and some light bites for an affordable $28. In front of each place setting were six shot glasses, holding two tequilas, two sotols, and two mezcals. Each spirit had been poured to be a mere taste and barely reached a fourth of the way up the glass. The staff leading the event was very fun and engaging, but took us through the six shots so quickly that we were done in moments. However, since the pours were so small, we were all willing to drink more. Per someone's request, the staff also wound up providing small tastings of three Mexican spirit-infused cocktails to enjoy while we continued to talk; we had all made the trip and did not want to cut the night short when we could be mingling with others. The beverage-accompanying snacks were hit or miss. The Yucca "Tots" were actually fried balls of the starch stuffed with melted cheese. They were delicious! The Salmon Tostadas were round tortilla chips topped with tequila-cured fish, roasted corn, and avocado cream, which combined into something resembling a ceviche. Those were decent and offered a variety of textures, but I thought they were missing some sort of flavor kick. Lastly, the Tortilla Chips were perfectly crisp, but very heavily salted. They served with a "spicy salsa verde" that seemed more like an avocado crema, of which I was not a fan, as well as a red salsa that was deliciously tangy and smokey. After the event wound down, we went back to the main floor bar to enjoy a full cocktail. My spicy mezcal margarita was made with their house bottle of Del Maguey Vida Mezcal and was fantastic. Plus, the bartender was a delight. We also discovered that there was a third floor that was much more of a lounge with couches, another bar, a photo booth and other items that created a sleeker, more celebratory atmosphere. Oso Felipe was such an unique and creative spot that offered festive vibes and bold drinks. Their food menu was vast, and I would like to go back to try some of their other items that I would be more likely to select myself.
