Another Tacoria location under my belt! I am a Tacoria fan for sure and you will be too once you try it. Location is clean, staff is friendly, all locations have a good vibe with cool decor and a mix of Spanish and English music. Plenty of seating and light from the large windows. Food is why I keep coming back! Always fresh and flavorful. My photos show a Pollo Asado Burrito with guac. Did not disappoint. Parking can be a little bit of a challenge since it is street parking but come on by and try it!

After being invited to the elite event at Tacoria in Summit, I haven't been able to stop thinking about how fresh and flavorful their food is! Plans changed tonight when heading into Montclair, and we didn't have time for a sit-down dinner. I saw that there was a Tacoria and immediately, hope was restored. This location has ample seating and is clean and well stocked. After ordering, I didn't even fill up our drinks before the buzzer indicated our food was ready. The burrito box was full of their pollo asada and delicious topping, and their chips were perfectly crunchy paired with guac. Thank you, Tacoria!

TLDR: great food, prime location, parking can be difficult during peak hours in downtown Montclair. Very lively when it is busy and great selection of music as well. Came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was very busy. Service was great and so was the food. You really can't go wrong with this place. Make sure you try their all their salsa, especially their habanero (orange one).

Chuck, one of the owners, reached out after seeing my review and offered credits for me to try it again, the fact that they have such an amazing customer service is truly why I decided to come back. I ordered through the app which made it easy for me to just walk up, have no wait time, and still be able to sit down at the place to enjoy the meal. The place itself is very nice and clean, and there's enough space for it to not be crowded even when there's a lot of people. Now onto the food ... I asked Chuck for recommendations and he said the steak burrito and their guac were some of his favorites, I have to say that the steak was good and tender - not well done but also not medium, a good in between. I ordered guac in the burrito and it was also good, nothing special but also better than some I've tried. I'd give the burrito a 7.5/10. The chips, unfortunately, were not good, I'm not sure if they were stale (since I went in at 9pm) or if they're made to be very hard, either way, I was only to eat one and had to toss the rest - I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to think that it was because of how late I went. Overall, I'd come back to try the chorizo (another recommended dish by both Chuck and an employee). The customer service is really what has made me give them a 4. Truly outstanding and shows they care about listening to customers!

Tacoria has always been a college staple, getting us through many late nights. Portions are still amazing. But maybe, stick to the nachos. Got the chicken tinga and it's not as flavorful as we remember. Keep it simple. Grilled chicken. Nachos. None of this salad bowl stuff we tried to pull. Have been and will continue to go back. The OG NB location has our heart. Ordered: chicken tinga salad bowl + rice

I'm a repeat customer but felt compelled to leave a review because of the service at the Montclair location! I ordered the steak tacos and chips and guac on the side. My meal was ready in under 5 so it's a great place for a quick bite. The steak was delicious and the onions and cilantro complimented the marinade well. Their guac is superb and on the lime-y side with a slight sweetness. Location: it's placed at the very corner and there's no parking which is inconvenience but there is seating in the front and back of the location.

An amazing "street food" atmosphere-- Great music, service, and tacos! The carne asada tacos were delicious and the salsas on the side complimented the meal very well. Would definitely come back!

I've always had great experiences here--service is consistently top-notch, and the staff is always so friendly and polite. As for the ambiance, this location is definitely bigger than the one in Edgewater, which makes for a more comfortable dining experience. I noticed people working on their laptops while enjoying their meals, which gives the place a nice, relaxed vibe. I ordered my go-to items, the carne asada and chicken tacos, but unfortunately, they came out cold, which was a bit disappointing. Still, the overall atmosphere and service keep me coming back!

This place has a nice vibe to it. if I were a teen again, this would be my meet-up spot. it's spacious with tables up the stairs in the back, cool for intimacy or planning out how to take over the world. The first time I was here I ordered tacos coming from the office and it was good. This time was cool too, but I have an opinion on how they layer the toppings, preferably the guacamole. My son ordered an al pastor burrito, and I ordered the steak burrito both with "guac". When we get home were are eating and we notice there is no guacamole. I was thinking about my next move, but because it was after a long day we kept trekking along. Once we got to the end of our burrito, we noticed that the gauc was at the very end. As a business, this can cause problems for their bottom line. We had no idea there was any guacamole in it. I suggest spreading it in evenly or putting it in the middle especially when consumers are paying for it. The service was cool; teens being teens, but they did a great job.

Great place to grab a delicious meal. I live the vibe as you walk in with the dark colors accented by the bright walls and the mural. Service was good. We ordered at the counter and picked up our food. It was not too loud but you could feel the energy. There is a bench up front where you could have a communal meal or sit at the counters along the wall facing the street. The back had a few tables which I thought felt private. The tacos were flavorful and authentic. I'm definitely coming back for more.

This store is in a good location, and although it looks small when you walk in there is a decent amount of seating towards the back. The ambiance is nice and chill overall. I loved that they are very intentional about the vegan menu and the difference between vegan and vegetarian options. The menu has a wide variety of items! We had the rajas burrito with brown rice, two carne asada tacos, two pollo tinga tacos, a side of golden avocado and street corn. The food was ready very fast and was hot, however, I think every item could have been more flavorful. For me, it was a 3 star experience because I didn't love the food. But perhaps this location is a better option for someone limiting their salt intake. Service was fast, friendly and helpful. There is metered street parking.

This is my first time trying tacoria and the carne Asada was so tender and both the Al pastor and carne was so flavorful, you can't go wrong with going either one. The highlight of this was the Mexican street corn, it was so good! The sauce with the cojita cheese combined so well with the crunchy corn. The guava basil drink was refreshing. The workers were really nice, food came out really fast. The ambiance was well decorated, in the back they had a lot of different sauces, best part was they also had a couple of homemade sauces to try!

Flavor was good but why was it not hot, not even warm! The guacamole tasted good and fresh. The tortilla chips were my fav kind so happy about that. I also got a burrito and again, disappointed. At least it was hot but like 75% rice, 25% protein. No cheese, no crema and no salsa like the menu says and I think there was a teaspoon of pico de gallo in there too. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where they don't serve you salsa on the side or on the table, this was crazy. Positives, the tortilla was good and so was the rice, both seemed homemade. But come on - this totally ruined my first experience.

Dark times.). Apparently there was also a sidewalk sale going on in Upper Montclair so it was definitely on the crowded side when we wandered over but we were still able to secure parking about a block away. Deliciously uneventful. Despite the congestion in the surrounding area, Playa Taqueria wasn't too busy - there were a few people seated outside, but otherwise we were able to walk right up to the counter and order. My favorite part of this experience by far was that Playa let you kind of mix and match/build your own. I'm very picky when it comes to Mexican because I don't like crunchy shizzle in my food (which is kind of a calling card of the genre) so a lot of times I'm out once pico de gallo or whatever automatically gets involved. Despite several items not being to my liking in the official quesadilla description, I was able to pivot and order a very basic version of it, with just chicken, cheese and a guac add-on. (After making an enormous deal of ordering off menu, the woman behind the counter listened to my order, nodded slowly and said, "...so you want a chicken quesadilla." I may have blown the situation out of proportion.) The quesadilla was very good. It was definitely made to order, so it came out several minutes after my chum's meal (a bowl of nachos or something that was housed quickly). It's not a formal restaurant by any stretch so the disparate arrival times to me aren't a big deal, especially when you're getting a better quality meal being made right then and then. It was a LITTLE too cheesy for me (absolutely dictionary definition nitpick), and it's wild to me that queso is one of the typical ingredients in this dish; I can't even imagine the cheese overload in that scenario. But the chicken was very flavorful and I was pleased that the guac was a legit portion (an item in my experience where you really have to pull teeth to get more than a very small spoonful, even if you're already paying extra for it). The restaurant (at least the front end) was being handled by a handful of young women, all of whom were very nice. The one at the register who dealt with my order specifically deserves top marks for dealing with my high maintenance behavior capably and ably. I also didn't think the price point was too bad - the obvious chain comp for me would be something like a Bubakoo's, which is definitely a step or two below this and really greasy. I think you're getting better food for roughly the same cost, which I'll always take in a heartbeat. I can't recommend the Town-Wide Yard Sale this year, but I do recommend this place.
