After being invited to the elite event at Tacoria in Summit, I haven't been able to stop thinking about how fresh and flavorful their food is! Plans changed tonight when heading into Montclair, and we didn't have time for a sit-down dinner. I saw that there was a Tacoria and immediately, hope was restored. This location has ample seating and is clean and well stocked. After ordering, I didn't even fill up our drinks before the buzzer indicated our food was ready. Chuck, one of the owners, reached out after seeing my review and offered credits for me to try it again, the fact that they have such an amazing customer service is truly why I decided to come back. I ordered through the app which made it easy for me to just walk up, have no wait time, and still be able to sit down at the place to enjoy the meal. The place itself is very nice and clean, and there's enough space for it to not be crowded even when there's a lot of people. Now onto the food ... I asked Chuck for recommendations and he said the steak burrito and their guac were some of his favorites, I have to say that the steak was good and tender - not well done but also not medium, a good in between. I ordered guac in the burrito and it was also good, nothing special but also better than some I've tried. I'd give the burrito a 7.5/10. The chips, unfortunately, were not good, I'm not sure if they were stale (since I went in at 9pm) or if they're made to be very hard, either way, I was only to eat one and had to toss the rest - I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to think that it was because of how late I went. Overall, I'd come back to try the chorizo (another recommended dish by both Chuck and an employee). The customer service is really what has made me give them a 4. My son ordered an al pastor burrito, and I ordered the steak burrito both with "guac". When we get home were are eating and we notice there is no guacamole. I was thinking about my next move, but because it was after a long day we kept trekking along. Once we got to the end of our burrito, we noticed that the gauc was at the very end. As a business, this can cause problems for their bottom line. We had no idea there was any guacamole in it. Ok I finally tried this spot again and noticed that you have to order salsas as none of the items come with them. This time, I went with the chicken tinga burrito. Tell me why, in my haste, I accidentally ordered 3 of them. They were doing a BOGO on them and I didn't even realize I accidentally added it three times and didn't pay attention to my cart even when I though it was a bit pricey. But alas, that's a me problem. I tried 3 different salsas and thought the mango habanero was easily the best one. Just the right amount of tanginess and spiciness. This store is in a good location, and although it looks small when you walk in there is a decent amount of seating towards the back. The ambiance is nice and chill overall. I loved that they are very intentional about the vegan menu and the difference between vegan and vegetarian options. The menu has a wide variety of items! We had the rajas burrito with brown rice, two carne asada tacos, two pollo tinga tacos, a side of golden avocado and street corn. The food was ready very fast and was hot, however, I think every item could have been more flavorful. For me, it was a 3 star experience because I didn't love the food. This is my first time trying tacoria and the carne Asada was so tender and both the Al pastor and carne was so flavorful, you can't go wrong with going either one. Overall great food, and always clean and comfortable when eating in. I've been going here (and to other locations) for years, and usually have a good experience. However the new staff really needs to learn the POS system. I have gone in several times and had new staff try to tell me that things like adding another sauce, or pico are impossible to add to my order. Usually a more experienced employee will step in and point out the right button to press in order to put the addition in a burrito, but if I'm not lucky enough to have that occur the new or seasonal hires will insist that they have never done that and seem baffled when i try to explain that it's been done dozens of times before. I don't mind waiting an extra 30 seconds for my order to be placed, and it would probably be helpful for the employees to learn how to make an adjustment to an order. I can imagine this being a problem especially if you have an allergy or something and need to make small adjustments to the contents of your burrito. If it were not for this reoccurring issue I would without a doubt rate this restaurant higher. read more

I don't frequency write reviews but I have to say Shay (I hope I'm spelling her name right) was so beyond kind to me and my cousin tonight. There was a mess up on our orders and the staff was very apologetic and remade our orders right away. I have been vegetarian since I was 10 years old so eating meat accidentally is a big fear for me. My burrito was made correctly but there was some confusion on the orders so they were not sure at first which really scared me as I had already finished half my burrito. Not only did they make me an entire new one for free they also gave us free dessert and took time to empathize even though I did not in fact eat meat. Will definitely come again. I usually have a high tolerance for spicy, but do not sleep on their spicy chorizo tacos, they sure do have a kick! I love me a good al pastor taco, and they did not disappoint, but the street corn and agua fresca basil watermelon was my top favorites. The nachos were ok, but it could have used some tomatoes and more cream sauce, and not the huge cut up peppers and carrots? Not sure why that was in there and not tomatoes, but to each their own. The disorganization of it all was what struck me, at first, there's a bunch of servers but no actual table service, you have to order your food, take a lighted disk, pick your seat, and wait for your disk to start buzzing to go pick up your food. I had to be told "this is a very casual place", because I was genuinely confused. Once I checked in on Yelp, I was given the free sprouts taco or street corn voucher, but they no longer have the sprouts taco just the street corn, which I was also fine with, but the delay and hesitation to honor it was also unnecessary. I just feel like for a casual place, they could be more hospitable. Maybe offering to find a seat or some kind of direction would be nice when you walk in, and not just assuming we know this is a "very casual" place and you have to do things on your own. When you walk in it doesn't look like a Chipotle, so don't treat it as such. However, I did have like three refills on the basil watermelon agua fresca, and I'm not sure if it was allowed, but again no indication of, so... Okay the food is good, well seasoned and fresh. The service was insulting. I always go on the weekend with my daughter. Spend about $40 on food and drinks. Why did they follow us around? I'm a tanned skin Puerto Rican woman. As soon as we got our food and went to the back to sit. Where other (white) people were sitting. It was on apparently ON. The cashier came back to check if everything was ok? As I was biting down in my taco. Another woman came up the stairs just to stand and watch. They kept going back and forth. We love the ambiance but don't love the seating in the back with wasn't too comfortable as the adjustable stool style chairs keeps wiggling therefore you'd have to keep a balance/ hold yourself upright which was uncomfortable to me but decor and all are great. I came by this location for my yelp swag bag since I won a yelpie this year. The staff was so friendly here! I got a free meal as a part of the swag, and I chose 3 tacos. I also checked in on yelp to get the free elote. My husband got a carne asada burrito. We both got horchata to drink and the staff gave us one of them for free that night! I have already been to the JC location so I was looking forward to the food. I love their horchata and elote - a must get every time. During covid they were not allowing indoor dining, so the hot sauce bar was closed but they gave each of us a cup of every sauce they have (5 different sauces!). Our favorite was the creamy one which has a smoky flavor and is less spicy than the others. Speaking of spice - they were not kidding about the spicy chorizo! Decided to eat on the car ride home so they were still hot. The first taco I had was the al pastor, pretty tasty. Then I had the spicy chorizo - the taste and texture I liked but man was it hot, I didn't have enough horchata and the heat LINGERED. I thought I was going to die, just recovered from a gastritis issue. Unfortunately the corn taco I couldn't really taste because my mouth was still on fire from the chorizo. The place is okay. They have tables that are 1st come 1st served. During a busy dinner, they didn't do a great job keeping up with the cleaning of them. We ordered the chicken tinga taco. This one was not filled with flavor. It was also pretty soggy. The other chicken taco was also ok but not outstanding. The Avocado taco was good. It was breaded well and not too soggy. The best taco was the Brussel sprout one. I didn't expect it to taste like it did. It was sweet and well filled. The tacos are almost $4 each and kind of small, so expect to get a few to make sure you are not running back to the counter getting more. They also had one bathroom for all guests.
