Found this wonderful gem while in Montclair and definitely has earned its way into our rotation when in the area. A lot of our go to spots have oddly gone out of business so this was a quick change up. The tacos were not only fresh but packed with flavor and huge for the price. You can't beat it. The gringas are a must try as they are my favorite soft flour tortillas filled with al pastor, pineapple, and Oaxaca cheese. Service was super fast and polite. The inside was very well decorated. Let's start with the ambiance! The colors in the restaurant are so vibrant it makes you feel like you've made it to the fiesta . I ordered the carnitas tacos and they were delish. I was happily surprised with the amount of meat on my tacos. My friend got a torta and it was HUGE! Our waitress was Ana she was friendly and checked on us throughout our meal. At the end of our meal I bought a water, and the man at the cashier was also friendly. I definetly look forward to coming back! read more

Friendly staff, tasty food and very reasonable prices for Montclair. We split the bierras nachos which were fantastic and super flavorful. I opted for the al pastor, which I also found to be delicious. There was four per order (they allow you to do 2 and 2 if you choose) and came with plenty of garnishes and salsas. Place looks nice, staff is lovely. I guess I could have looked closer at the photos, but when I read steak, I expect solid meat pieces, not ground beef. If I knew that it was ground beef, I would have ordered chicken. Although I ordered different beef tacos, they ended up having very little difference in flavor. My only regret is not getting the birria!!! An amazing find with amazing plates, lovely music renditions of classics playing, and amazing staff/service. My kiddo got the chicken and papas and he loved it; I tried the papas, and they were incredibly crispy and not oily. I got the chilaquiles en salsa verde with bistec. Nothing wrong with bistec, but when I tried a piece of my husband's birria in his torta, I figured out that it was the star that deserved to be on my chilaquiles. The salsa verde, crema and queso complimented itself very well. Las aguas frescas (horchata and jamaica) were full of flavor and refreshing on today's hot day. Highly recommend! One of my favorite spots, especially on taco Tuesdays! As usual, everything was delicious! Service is always excellent! The guacamole is delicious. I ordered a total of five tacos. I ordered the steak, breaded chicken, and Mexican chorizo to start off with... everything came out hot fresh and delicious! Yum yum! Then I ordered eggs with mixed vegetables and one Al Pastor and everything was to my liking and yummy! I got a steak sandwich to go which was delicious next day for lunch! I highly recommend this spot And if you can sit outside on a nice day, go for it! Always a good time! I'll be back here next Tuesday for sure! And they gave you so much guacamole on the side as well as the onion and tomatoes that it was more than sufficient. I love their green hot sauce as well. quite the random decision to come here as I wanted to have some tacos and we're glad we found this place! from outside, the shop looks so cute and inside had festive colors! great location in montclair too - a little away from the main street so finding street parking wasnt so bad. we got the Chilaquiles which was good but im not really a big fan of the green salsa over chips since its sour. really just more on preference. Anyway, i enjoyed the beef birria. The meat was tender and nicely seasoned. The additional consome brought more flavor and was fun dipping the tacos into. In a neighborhood like Montclair you always try to establish your "faves" of every food type. I was hoping to have secured Tortas Lokas as my go to for awesome tacos. I'll say i'm still on the hunt. The tacos were a little bland and the chicken could have more flavor. Sadly I also found a hair in my taco (not pictured), I am quite sure it was not intentional so I won't harp on that too much however hopefully this was a one off occurrence. On a lighter note the guacamole was very tasty. Also the sandwiches were huuge and pretty decent. They also allow you to customize your sandwich to your preferences. This location is very cute, with eye catching wall paintings. For a new business I felt the customer service was lacking somewhat as the staff didn't seem very warm and didn't utter a word for a minute as I waited to order with no other waiting customers. I'm willing to give it another try despite my reservations perhaps I visited on an off night. read more

I had previously placed an order for churros for 20 people. They told me I would need 2 regular size orders. Order and delivery was placed a week prior. Order was delivered late and only 10 size mini churros. I called to let them know that I seemed to be missing part of the order. They were not helpful and told me it was 2 orders for $50 and that I received the right amount. Awful customer service and sad that they are charging that rate. So we tried this New Mexican spot in Upper Montclair for weeknight takeout. Food was ready fast so high marks for that. Unfortunately the food here is just bland, not bad, but just sort of meh. The Nachos ($12) was a good sized portion and the guac was pretty good ... but just sort of underwhelming and bland. Same thing for my veggie burrito bowl ($10.50). I placed on order on Saturday May 31,2025. By mistake I did Pick up instead of delivery. An hour and half after I realized the food was not delivered. When I went to the restaurant. The food was seating by the counter cold. I explained to the waiter that I had a sensitive stomach and that was food wasn't properly stored and she said well, that's on you. I also explained to her that they could it had call me to clarify if was a pick up. She was rude and dismissed. I frequently order from this place. However, the lack of sensitivity and customer services was beyond. The lost a customer. I would never order from them. My bill was $ 37.00 dollars and I let the food write on the counter. A brightly painted restaurant with mariachi music in the background just made me the most amazing Birria Tacos. Flavorful, juicy, and beautifully presented. I could eat this EVERY SINGLE DAY.
