Amazing food and an even more amazing staff. They make us feel at home every time we visit.

What is going on?? Visited a year ago and the food was excellent; now it is completely opposite of that. The biryani was dry and the tandoori was overcooked and so dry it was inedible. The service was still on point but they need a new chef. read more

My Goodness!! Please folks, I beg of you, DO NOT BE DUPED BY THESE POSITIVE RATINGS! I have to believe that they must have been written by friend or family members of this establisment because this food was DISGUSTINGLY, OVERWHELMINGLY, UNDER-FLAVORED, OVERPRICED, and the entire food eating experience was disappointing overall!!! Now, please don't get me wrong. I RARELY, ever get on these platforms and waste my time, writing reviews. I am a very busy person and I have way better things to do with my time. But after my partner and I received our hefty, over priced bill for this nasty, disgusting (what they have the nerve to call Indian food), I had to get on this website and give my two cents to share what a rip off Yellow Handi is as an eatery. Oh, and HOW DARE THEY dictate what tip the patrons show pay them! YES FOLKS, BE PREPARED TO PAY A HEFTY TIP WHICH THEY WILL AUTOMATICALLY ADD TO YOUR BILL WITHOUT TELLING YOU AND NOT GIVE YOU AN OPTION TO DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT TO TIP THEM YOURSELF! I believe this is practically illegal unless this is explicitly cited or verbally told to the customer prior to their dining! Now, I love Indian Food! It was my partner and I anniversary and we have lived in Georgia now for 1 year, moving from California and we have traveled to various places and have had Indian cuisine at several different restaurants in several different States and cities. This was by far, one of the WORST experiences ever. I am actually, pretty darn shocked at the reviews and rating that Yellow Handi has received so I'm definitely inclined to believe that the some of these patrons are friends and family of the owners, or maybe have not had the pleasure of experiencing flavorful, AUTHENTIC East Indian cuisine. I was actually pretty excited and hopeful upon walking in as I noticed the cute twinkling lights that hung so sweetly from the ceiling. We were asked to seat ourselves but noticed there were no menus to see the food choices. Then we we noticed sign that directed us to pull out our phones and get a code to see the menu on a website that was extremely overwhelming and long. You have to scrolling for your life, looking at this extensive menu which was my first turn off!! We eventually ordered various dishes to try (sag paneer, lamb korma, some crazy indo fusion dish, naan bread - which usually comes complimentary at every Indian eatery we have eaten at but they have to audacity to charge at this horrible place! All I will say is, this food was so terrible, we probably ate about 7 bites and left the rest! I didn't even take the leftovers (which is very unusual for me..LOL). We were so disappointed, it must of been obvious because a gentleman (he may have been the owner) came to the table when we asked for the check and asked us "is everything okay?" We are very polite people and didn't want to cause a scene on our anniversary and simply said "Yes,", paid our stupidly priced bill, ran out this horrible restaurant, jumped in our car and vowed, never, ever to return to this place again. I implore you, don't ruin your palette or your wallet! read more

The last time I visited Yellow Handi, I placed an order of Kadahi to go. The dish was very tasty, but I was a bit shocked to see a 5% surcharge because the order was 'to go'. I came across this restaurant while on a 15hr road trip and was craving some Indian food. The service was good; the waitress was very attentive to my needs and answered all my questions. As a vegetarian, there are a decent variety of options to chose from but as someone who understands authentic Indian cuisine, I wouldn't say it was amazing and a go-to place. I had the Vindaloo w/ Mixed Vegetables and Paneer Tikka. The Vindaloo was spicy as it should be but flavor profile-wise, it just wasn't my favorite. It was mainly spice but not flavor. The paneer tikka was good; can't really go wrong with that haha. The garlic naan was definitely not fresh or authentic -- I felt like it was from those frozen naan bags. Everything was decently priced; for my entire order it was $34 which is pretty standard in most Indian restaurants. As I said previously, I would only go here if I was driving out of Atlanta and had limited Indian restaurant options. I wouldn't necessarily come back or recommend a friend to go here. read more

Another Conyers hidden gem! Would definitely go back! The naan isn't as fresh as I would like. But maybe it's different dining in. We shall see. Butter chicken was yummy though. I usually order a vegetarian meal, and after not visiting for several months, I went back and ordered the same dish I typically get. This time, however, I could immediately tell the cook had changed. It no longer tasted like authentic Indian food, it tasted like someone was trying to make the dish for the very first time. I won't be returning to this restaurant. Their prices are outrageous and constantly increasing. Thankfully, there's a new Indian restaurant in Conyers. My advice: drive a little further and find an authentic Indian restaurant with reasonable prices - you'll be glad you did. read more

So good! Best Indian restaurant we have found - Ms we've been looking! I got the Butter Chicken, which was to die for. The samosas were great... my husband's vindaloo was great... and they even fixed my toddler a mild and flavorful Chicken The Korma... it was great. Clean, great service, great food. The atmosphere of the Yellow Handi restaurant was appealing with creative features. A standing waterfall, decorative lighting and open-air seating. The menu seemed overwhelming with choices and only available on an electronic device. Service was attentive. The food was disappointing and overpriced. Lamb Korma was very strange with an unpleasant taste or flavor, and the lamb was very tough or undercooked. The Saag Paneer was colorful, yet again unusually flavored and not enjoyable. The question I ask when eating at a restaurant is, would I come back again. Would I return to Yellow Handi, the answer is, NO! The Yellow Handi may have other dishes that are worth the price and enjoyable, but I will not be spending time or money at this restaurant to learn what those dishes might be. read more

In Ga on assignment.. found this Gem on Google when looking for food Sunday night. Tons of great reviews.. to start we had some samosas.. which were light/flaky and Malvani Fried Chicken, perfectly seasoned! Just the right amount of spice. It was delicious. For my main I had the Tandoori Salmon Tikka.. comes on a screaming skillet over vegetables (order your rice on the side). I left full and satisfied of course. Servers were quick and attentive. The staff is great. You can get non-spicy for the southern masses and clear your sinuses spicy good flavored food. The tikka masala is great. The samosa are wonderful but the veggie are my favorite. Twenty-one years ago, I married a man from Conyers and moved here. Luckily, his biggest flaw is that he doesn't like Indian food, so I've only been able to have Indian food *very* occasionally since then. When I was planning my birthday dinner this year, I decided I was going to make him take me to the nearest Indian food restaurant for carryout, let him grab carryout from his favorite place, and go to a local park to eat. (I was thinking the nearest Indian restaurant was probably in downtown ATL.) I was so thrilled to discover that there is Indian food available less than five minutes from my house! I just ate some of the best Butter Chicken I've ever had. The portions are generous. I'm full but I still have a full meal left for dinner tomorrow. This place is amazing. read more

Finally, an Indian restaurant in Conyers. After wanting one for years! And this one is no disappointment. The food is too quality. I had the bone-in tandoori chicken and my kid had the tandoori salmon and both were perfect. Started with some chicken samosas and garlic naan. Finished with one of the desserts and it too was amazing. Update: Just went back for a second visit and the food and service were as good as the first visit. We went here for lunch on Valentine's Day, and as repeat customers, we already knew were in for a treat! You can taste the love in every bite of the expertly layered spices in each dish. With a large menu, there is something for everyone. On this visit, I tried the lamb Sheek Kebabs and they were soooo tender and delicious! You must try their Naan. I really loved the chicken korma. It's my favorite Indian dish and Yellow Handi did it just right! I requested no nuts and the owner came out to ensure that my order was perfect- now that's great service! the garlic naan dipped in the sauce - delicious! While i had take out, the ambience seems really nice - spacious enough to be family friendly or to have dinner with friends with an atmosphere sufficiently soft for a date night. We came across this place when we went to Ingles for groceries. I have never had Indian food before so we gave it a shot. Well now we have found a new "go to" place in Conyers. The restaurant was clean and the service was VERY helpful to us newbies. We ordered 2 appetizers and both were really good. The first was bang bang Cauliflower and the second was Punjabi Samosa. The Samosas were crispy and the filling was tasty and slightly spicy. The Bang Bang Cauliflower was really good and will be a regular for me. (if you get the Samosas and the Bang Bang, try dipping some Cauliflower in the mint sauce..... it was fantastic) My wife got the Butter Chicken and she said it was very good. I ordered the Tandoori Chicken and I absolutely loved it. Because we ordered so much food, I took some of my meal home. Today I heated it up and put it in a flour tortilla.. Finally!! Fresh, authentic Indian food! I would have to drive all the way to Kenensaw for decent Indian food but not anymore. This side of Conyers has many local gems so I knew I would be in a treat. The staff is amazing and will answer any questions you may have about the menu. Everything is fresh, made in house, and the seafood is wild caught. I love that the menu caters to all dietary needs. We visited for the first time yesterday for our anniversary and it was PHENOMENAL. I had the chicken ghee roast per the waitresses recommendation and loved it. A subtle spiciness, with tender chicken. The garlic naan was probably the best we've had. My wife tried the Korma and loved it as well. If you've not tried Gulab Jamun, we'd highly recommend. Ordered the Special Dum Biryani rice w/ Goat. Barely any goat meat came with it, there were multiple large clumps of what I assume was seasoning that weren't cooked through the meal, found a piece of black&white hair on top as well. Very disappointing. Also ordered the beef samosas which tasted good but were barely warm even though I picked up my order right on time. This was the 2nd time I ordered from here, the 1st time was a similar experience to this but I wanted to give them another chance. Never ordering from here again.
