Rockdale County finally has an Indian restaurant- hooray! The dining area is spacious and offers booths and tables. Recorded Indian music adds to the ambiance. We arrived for an early lunch at 11:30 on a Saturday. Only three other tables filled during or meal. Yellow Handi is still building its lunch crowd. We ordered Tandoori sheik kabob. Meat patties arrived on a sizzling platter on a bed of cooked cabbage and onions with a pleasant char. Patties were good, but very spicy. Be sure to ask about heat when ordering as spice level is not identified on the menu. This dish also takes extra time to prepare which made for a 25 minute wait. Again, no warning. Saag Paneer can be ordered spicy to taste. We went with mild as hubby can no longer tolerate spicy food. Although the menu does not say , it comes with rice. Very good, but slow to arrive withe Naan. Kitchen is still working out the kinks. If you want Naan, you must order on the side. We choose the butter Naan. There are four lightly crisp pieces per order. Service is very attentive. The manager stopped by our table to ask how our meal was. Overall an excellent addition to the Rockdale dinning scene. If you like Indian food, you won't be disappointed. We are in town for the Spartan race, and wanted to try a local place for dinner. It was SO good! We had the spring rolls and garlic naan for appetizers. Then I had the chicken tandoori trio for dinner. It was delicious and had a huge portion! We all got mango lassi's too. One of the best Indian places I've had. And our waiter was very kind. I actually did like this place until last nights experience. Me and my 2 friends came in and were greeted by a friendly face (so I thought) and we ordered our food. I always get the same order so I know exactly what I was going to get before I got there. Order of veggie samosa and chicken tikka masala. As we were waiting the gentleman said that they were almost fished with my "butter chicken". I corrected him and told him my friend and I both ordered the exact same thing (Tikka masala) and he proceeded to tell me I was wrong and that he knew what I ordered (when he was very wrong and my entire table corrected him) I told him it was okay and that me and my friend would switch meals. He would take the butter chicken and I would take my original order. When the food came out and we were EATING he then proceeded to come up to me with his cellphone with cameras & distorted audio and shoved it in my ear mid BITE!!!! (Again he was wrong I said to him in the video my exact order) We then get to the bill and they charged us PER SODA & a 20% gratuity because he could tell I was very upset from the day he interrupted my meal so rudely. My bill came to 95$ . I paid it and left. Will not ever be returning to this place. Which is a shame because the food is actually decent.. I came across this restaurant while on a 15hr road trip and was craving some Indian food. The service was good; the waitress was very attentive to my needs and answered all my questions. As a vegetarian, there are a decent variety of options to chose from but as someone who understands authentic Indian cuisine, I wouldn't say it was amazing and a go-to place. I had the Vindaloo w/ Mixed Vegetables and Paneer Tikka. The Vindaloo was spicy as it should be but flavor profile-wise, it just wasn't my favorite. It was mainly spice but not flavor. The paneer tikka was good; can't really go wrong with that haha. The garlic naan was definitely not fresh or authentic -- I felt like it was from those frozen naan bags. Everything was decently priced; for my entire order it was $34 which is pretty standard in most Indian restaurants. As I said previously, I would only go here if I was driving out of Atlanta and had limited Indian restaurant options. I wouldn't necessarily come back or recommend a friend to go here. read more

I was actually pretty excited and hopeful upon walking in as I noticed the cute twinkling lights that hung so sweetly from the ceiling. We were asked to seat ourselves but noticed there were no menus to see the food choices. Then we we noticed sign that directed us to pull out our phones and get a code to see the menu on a website that was extremely overwhelming and long. You have to scrolling for your life, looking at this extensive menu which was my first turn off!! We eventually ordered various dishes to try (sag paneer, lamb korma, some crazy indo fusion dish, naan bread - which usually comes complimentary at every Indian eatery we have eaten at but they have to audacity to charge at this horrible place! All I will say is, this food was so terrible, we probably ate about 7 bites and left the rest! I didn't even take the leftovers (which is very unusual for me..LOL). We were so disappointed, it must of been obvious because a gentleman (he may have been the owner) came to the table when we asked for the check and asked us "is everything okay?" We are very polite people and didn't want to cause a scene on our anniversary and simply said "Yes,", paid our stupidly priced bill, ran out this horrible restaurant, jumped in our car and vowed, never, ever to return to this place again. Another Conyers hidden gem! Would definitely go back! The naan isn't as fresh as I would like. But maybe it's different dining in. We shall see. Butter chicken was yummy though. I usually order a vegetarian meal, and after not visiting for several months, I went back and ordered the same dish I typically get. This time, however, I could immediately tell the cook had changed. It no longer tasted like authentic Indian food, it tasted like someone was trying to make the dish for the very first time. I won't be returning to this restaurant. Their prices are outrageous and constantly increasing. Thankfully, there's a new Indian restaurant in Conyers. My advice: drive a little further and find an authentic Indian restaurant with reasonable prices - you'll be glad you did. read more

In Ga on assignment.. found this Gem on Google when looking for food Sunday night. Tons of great reviews.. to start we had some samosas.. which were light/flaky and Malvani Fried Chicken, perfectly seasoned! Just the right amount of spice. It was delicious. For my main I had the Tandoori Salmon Tikka.. comes on a screaming skillet over vegetables (order your rice on the side). I left full and satisfied of course. Servers were quick and attentive. The menu seemed overwhelming with choices and only available on an electronic device. Service was attentive. The food was disappointing and overpriced. Lamb Korma was very strange with an unpleasant taste or flavor, and the lamb was very tough or undercooked. The Saag Paneer was colorful, yet again unusually flavored and not enjoyable. The question I ask when eating at a restaurant is, would I come back again. Would I return to Yellow Handi, the answer is, NO! I really loved the chicken korma. It's my favorite Indian dish and Yellow Handi did it just right! I requested no nuts and the owner came out to ensure that my order was perfect- now that's great service! the garlic naan dipped in the sauce - delicious! Finally, an Indian restaurant in Conyers. After wanting one for years! And this one is no disappointment. The food is too quality. I had the bone-in tandoori chicken and my kid had the tandoori salmon and both were perfect. Started with some chicken samosas and garlic naan. Finished with one of the desserts and it too was amazing. Update: Just went back for a second visit and the food and service were as good as the first visit.
