These guys came out a year ago when my AC was not working. Technician Christopher came and looked at my system and quickly determined that I had no other option but to replace the unit with a new $20,000 unit. He called in his buddy, who came into my house and asked repeatedly "so you're the home owner?" "So you're the only one here making decisions?" "You're single?" He pushed me to buy a new unit and went over financing options. Told me if I signed that day they'd give a substantial discount. I felt that this whole interaction was pretty predatory. I told the tech I would need to think about this, and get another opinion. While the tech was here, he replaced a part to get the system working for the time being. They gave me an invoice for over 1000 dollars. I told them I'd need to have my dad look at the invoice and make sure I wasn't being over charged. The invoice was vague and did not list the parts that were replaced. I asked the tech to let me know exactly what was replaced. He wrote down a list, still pretty vague. My dad said that the parts replaced should have been around 400. Not over a thousand, and even with labor, this invoice seemed pretty unreasonable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the company back to discuss. They would not tell me exactly what parts they put in, and ultimately decided to drop the invoice completely. My assumption at this point was that they knew they were being shady.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fast forward to now. My system is freezing and not working properly. The tech from another much more honest company that came out today said that tests are showing multiple types of refrigerant, which could be causing my issue. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called year round to let them know that they should have drained the system before adding another type of refrigerant, and they maintain that they never added any refrigerant when they were here last. I think that this company is not taking accountability.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I let them know I'd be leaving a review to share my bad experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Shortly after I received a call from the owner of the company. He asked me to explain my issue, and when I did he denied that his techs would ever act in the predatory manner I described.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I told him I did not wish to speak with him any more as he was not taking any accountability, and that this in fact was my experience, and I would be sharing it in hopes of protecting others. I hung up the call. [[HIGHLIGHT]]HE CALLED ME BACK TO THREATEN LEGAL ACTION IF I "SLANDERED" HIS COMPANY![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This review is not slander. This is an honest account of my experience with this company, and I will not be bullied into not sharing. I can't imagine how many of their customers have fallen for their predatory tactics. My system is a 20 year old system that limps along but still works and I was weighing the options of a tune up to get through the season or put repair money towards a new system. I sent out inquiries on yelp and Year Round was one of the contractors. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They got back pretty quickly but I was unable to take the call for a bit and they were texting and calling a ton, very persistent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In general, the company seemed very friendly, very competent, but their pricing is quite a bit on the high side, and their sales tactics are a bit tired. I don't think they deserve a 1 star for it but fair warning to others to watch out for sales tactics. When I was finally able to field a call, they got a tech out the next day. Tech was very friendly, took amperage measurements of the capacitors and motors and priced out a new capacitor and fan motor for $1700 but mentioned a more senior tech was not far and he could come by and take a look. The more senior tech cleaned my condenser without me asking which, ok, cool, thanks, but that felt kind of like entrapment by doing it without permission so I was a bit wary that it was a tactic. They said that yeah the 1700 fix could get me through the season but that the system was on its last legs and that I should meet with a sales person to talk about replacing. I was a bit wary again, a dedicated sales person is a bit of a red flag. Told them I'd rather not, they then offered to replace the capacitor and the fan motor then and there and if I decide to buy a full system they'd credit that 1700 towards that. Again, I said no thanks (remember, my system technically still works), I'd rather not waste the tech's time if I end up buying anyway, which he hesitantly accepted. The sales person was supposed to come by in the evening and about an hour before they came by the fan on the condenser unit stopped working. I'm not saying they did anything to it cause I don't know for sure, but the timing was a bit too convenient so I'm putting it in my review. I went out and got it spinning again and it has worked ever since. He wanted to check the unit again when he got here and seemed a bit perplexed that when I said it was running fine. After he checked out the unit and we chatted about backyard stuff (guy was very friendly) we went inside and it turned into a timeshare presentation at my dinner table. He had laminated pages in a binder, package printouts, and everything. After some hemming and hawing about the differences between the units he shared prices. $24k for a single stage Lennox system, $27.8k for a 2 stage compressor Lennox system, and $34.9k for a variable rotary Lennox system. I was starting to understand why they were willing to "fix" my compressor at sunk cost with the bet that I would buy. The margin was huge. I asked if that included any duct work, he said no. I was about ready to say no thanks but then he found an excuse to "call their dispatcher" which just about made my eyes roll because this is such a tired sales tactic. TLDR, they "could offer my the two stage for the price of the one stage if I get the work done tomorrow" and that if I said no they wouldn't honor the offer in the future. I said I understood and said farewell. Again, very friendly, attitude seemed good, but there were so many coincident sales tactics that took place that made me feel really uncomfortable going with them. read more

I first contacted Year Round heating thru Yelp and Katie responded right away . My air conditioning wasn't going lower than 84 so i reached out to them. Katie send me a confirmation text scheduling for today between 5-7 pm and no one showed up at all not even a call and the last text message was around 5:15 and it says tech will be there towards 7 but it's 7:30 already will have to contact another company very disappointed. Just got a text at 8:20 ask if I want the technician out now or schedule for tomorrow I appreciate they reached out to me but you could of at least send a message or call around 7 to let us know its still going to be a while instead of leaving us hanging until an hour later. A update the company has reached out to me after there system crashed and wasn't able to reach out to us until very late last night . This morning I got several calls lets me know they can have someone out to my house between the hours of 8:30-10 am . I gave them a chance to come out and take a look at our ac unit. The office kept me in the loop of what time the technician Christoper was going to be here . He was on time and very nice . Same old story from mnf. of evaporative coils - not wanting to give 10 yr. warranty which is required by law in California. This is the second tech I had come to assess my problem. The first tech saw that I had a sealed attic and recommended installing $15,000 of minisplit systems to solve my problem. Year Round, had more inspection tools to examine my inaccessible vents and found my problem to be an overworked, dust-caked blower fan. He fixed it and solved the problem for $400. The tech worked diligently to find the problem and documented everything with pictures and videos to show me the problem. It was a good experience and I'd hire them again. read more

I'm giving this a three star because though my air conditioning system is up and running and working great. The great customer service I received when they installed everything and all of the promises that I was going to get after and the next steps have not been fulfilled. I was told that there was going to be an inspection. I have never been reached out for that and also I was told that my unit was going to get serviced every few months and filters replaced.
