Regrettably , I gave Control Temp a 5 star review too soon after they installed two Noritz tankless water heater on 3/18/24 So that my family could have hot water. John, the supervisor, and Jeff did the work. Jeff was a gentleman throughout the process but John was surly too often. I put up with it him in hopes of getting hot water after a weekend with cold water. I immediately paid the $7750 bill. I should not have. Soon after the water heaters were installed we were getting only sporadic hot water, usually luke warm water, and sometimes nothing but cold. While John and Jeff were installing the tankless hot water heaters they both observed the circulation pump in the remote upstairs bathroom and said nothing about it being a potential .problem. The house is two stories and 3800 square feet suggesting that a working recirculating pump is probably necessary. Nor did John say that they don't do plumbing. Later John told my wife that he informed me that Control Temp does not do plumbing ar the time of the installation. That is not true. Plumbing isue never mentioned. About April 21 I called Control Temp and Jefff came out to analyze the problem on April 22. I was relieved to see Jeff and not John. Jeff surmised that the recirculating pump was most likely the problem. He left without a definitive answer but had contacted the manufacturer who believed it was most likely the recirculating pump. I then called Contro Temp and spoke to the supervisor, John, expecting that Control Temp would install a recirculating pump. I accepted That there would probably be an additional charge. John told me, rudely, that my problem was the recirculating pump, that they are not plumbers, and it was therefore not their problem. This was troubling because II had contracted with Control Temp to get HOT WATER and not some pipes and a gas burner. Still having only sporadic hot water, I called Control Temp about a week later and asked to speak to John. The office manager said John would call me back, but he never did. I didn't try to contact him again because I didn't want to put up with his attitude. His failure to return my call said it all.. I began contacting plumbers to get bids. On May 10 a plumber came out to give me a bid on installing a recirculating pump. He took the covers off and looked at the tankless hot water heaters and found a leak in each one of them. Since this was a Friday afternoon we waited until Monday to contact Control Temp because contacting them on a Friday afternoon seemed fruitless. I had my wife call Control Temp this morning, May 13, 2924. because I had enough of John and believed any discussion with John would deteriorate quickly. My wife told John about the leaks. John said any water leaks in the tankless water heaters he installed ARE NOT HIS PROBLEM! He said it is a plumbing problem and he is not a plumber! He then said there was NO LEAK WHEN THEY FINISHED PUTTING THE WATER HEATRRS IN.. He went on to explain to my wife that he told me they are not plumbers. Not true. That issue never came up during the installation. After arguing with my wife for some time John said. "Well, OK. We'll come out "one more time". My wife was shocked at John's attitude after we paid Control Temp $7750 for about 3 hours work, paid the bill immediately, and had a one year contractual warranty. read more

Unfortunately the old a/c unit had to be replaced but the technician pointed out that the furnace was old but still in decent shape. Over the weekend I realized my furnace was not working as the house was very chilly and blowing cold air. I turned if off and Monday morning called Control Temp and they came out that afternoon and showed me that there had been a fire in the furnace and I needed a new one. My families harrowing HVAC story begins before last winter, when we had a company come out for a tune up to make sure it was working well. The technician ended up doing more harm than good to the system. We called Control Temp and they were able to fix the system even though the part that was broken was 30 years old within a few days. During the hottest part of summer, six months later, our AC decides to go out on a Friday night. I left a message with Control Temp over the weekend, and they were out first thing on Monday and got it running right away. A week later, a different part of the AC malfunctioned. I called them back, and even though it was completely unrelated to the first service call, they waved the fee. My wife and I decided with two small children in the home we couldn't continue with a 30 year old unit, so we asked for a bid, and they beat the price of everyone around by a very large margin. They were able to install the system one business day after we gave them the deposit and the new system is working amazingly. Throughout the whole process every member of the company has been incredibly kind and personable, as well as extremely competent. They really are heroes to my family, as my six month old daughter needs a working HVAC system to survive at this point in her life. They made sure it was working at every step of the way until we could afford the new system, which we were told by every other company would go up significantly if we didn't order it immediately. Control Temp never put any pressure on us, and six months later when we decided to buy, the price had risen, but not significantly, just what you would expect due to inflation. They have the best price around, the most knowledgeable staff, and the kindest staff, of any company we have dealt with in this ordeal. This company is GREAT!! Called when our a/c quit working. Marjorie got a tech out quickly. They gave us an option to repair or replace. Since our unit was over 20yrs we opted for a new unit. They got a new unit in the next day. What we didn't know, nor would we have ever known since the unit is up on the roof, the new unit had a dent in it. I was right out of surgery and they knew I needed a/c. They called us back a week later and told us they needed to replace the unit. They went to the trouble to hook up the dented one to get us by until they got a replacement. We wouldn't have ever even know it was dented but because they are so HONEST they made the effort to replace it. We won't use anyone but ControlTemp. Friday afternoon...I was having friends over on the weekend..I called Control Temp_ (I had used them in the past)..they were closed for the day.I left a message.. I was desperate after going to Home Depot and realized a fan or 2 was not going to worI after having a consultation from a HVAC Company...on 24hrs a day. The representative came...verbosed..check the attic...used his equipment. To get my AC going...I needed Refrigerant..about 10 pounds. 1st pound $238.00 ,,every pound after would be $137.00 It didnot include the emergency visit ..labor an d a valve at a discount at $79.00. I just wasn't sure. Sat morning got a call back from John Control Temp..he told me Refriferants were $25.00 - $27.00 per pound. He and a tech out in less than 1 hr. I cannot recommend Control Temp enough. In November my heater went out and in Yucaipa it dips down there at night. Evan came out to fix my heater. He was awesome! Very professional, efficient and knowledgeable, completely impressed! So summer rolls around and my AC decides it's had enough and we are looking at triple digit temps and I have a severe respiratory illness. I was panicked and what is this gonna cost, I asked my cat. Marjorie dispatched a tech and Joe was on the spot. Again, a professional, personable and efficient guy. They must pay these guys well, I said to my cat who was fanning herself. With minimal cost Joe located the problem, explained it to me without demeaning me (you know what I mean), and had my AC restored in record time. He even offered to get a part that we agreed I should replace and would come back the next day and install on the unit while I didn't need to be home! All in all, I only lost 30 minutes of work for this job. And if you work 9 to 5 and have to use PTO waiting for repair techs you'll know how important that is. Love, yes love Control Temp! read more

Just wanted to get this positive review out in the public arena. I have used Control Temp twice on 2 different systems and have been very happy. It's important to let you know about my first contact with them in 2012 when I had them come look at my AC in a home. I had another company previously come out and charge 75 dollars to tell me they weren't exactly sure what was wrong and they would have to have another tech come out. I had no idea who installed the unit but then I called control temp and once John had looked at it after 5 seconds, he said " this unit was installed by us". Then he fixed the small issue in 5 mins and said " no charge because its covered by warranty". That told me two things. First he is trust worthy and second he know what he is doing. read more

Very professional, very knowledgeable, very thorough. They came last month for the annual check our heating and A/C equipment service call. Found our A/C was losing Freon (old system) and we needed a new thermostat. They replaced both and our A/C works better than it ever has. No pressure to buy new A/C system, just great service and good information. A/C is old and will probably need to be replaced next year. Two guesses who will get the job, and the first guess doesn't count....Control Temp of course. read more

Review update - Control Temp has been annually servicing my a/c for quite a few years, but when it showed signs of giving up, it was time to shop for a more efficient and energy saving hvac system. Seven companies gave quotes, and I found Control Temp's quote to be very competitive for an upgraded system. John worked with me to get just the kind of thermostat I wanted and recommended a modification of the ducting to get more air flowing to a room that really heats up in summer. Jeff, Justin, and Shawn worked professionally and diligently all day to remove the old system from the attic (not such an easy task, but they knew what to do), install the new furnace and compressor, add a new duct, test the system to make certain it was functioning as it should, cleaned up everything - and couldn't have been nicer (and that's important when techs are in your home all day!). It's daunting to consider the cost of a new hvac system (one quote approached the price of a small new car), but with Control Temp's fairer pricing and great people, the decision was easy and comfortable.
