I was looking for a nearby place when I saw this Cajun hole in the wall. I headed right over and I sure am glad I did! I was greeted by Logan and the chef who were both very friendly. I asked what he recommended to which he suggested the drunken chicken and the chili cheese crawfish étouffée. They were kind enough to allow me to enjoy half of each. All I can say is it was amazing. A burst of flavor in every bite. I looked at the menu after I was finished and the home made peanut butter pie called my name. Also amazing! Thank you for a great dining experience. Great food, friendly staff and definitely recommended. My wife and I crave this food shortly after leaving and find ourselves returning to the various locations. This particular restaurant could benefit from a little fine tuning on the ambiance. It definitely feels as though they just slapped up a few decorative pieces to make it like other locations but it isn't enough to cover up the very strip mall feel of the place. !! After all these years Still A fan !! I feel happy to say that after 3 years of not eating Yats due to relocation to Seattle, WA. On My adventure back to Indianapolis , I had to stop in and see if YATS was as good as I remember. - Cookie num num!! - décor - is still kick a$$ - Rice perfect and fluffy - Bread , crispy soft and still a perfect way to scoop! - B&B spot on "oh , that Indiana corn" - Vegan white chili just a little heat it was delish! - Beer , A few good selections. I was glad to have a Sunking! The Staff?? Just as nice and helpful as I remembered. My partner wasn't sure what to order, so They allowed us to have a few little tasters. To help her choose what to get. ? Improvements ? The only thing that I would give a negative mark on. Is the use of styro -foam plates at the 86th street location. I am not sure if every Yats does this. But I think a bio degradable or recyclable plastic or just good Glass plates would be an improvement. read more

I have been searching for a good Cajun/creole place in indianapolis for some time now. A friend brought me here and I've heard him and a few other people rave about it. I, however, did enjoy my meal but it was just mediocre. Service was good, guys were friendly. But food.... I would go back, but definitely wouldn't be my top pick for a place to eat. read more

Yats is fantastic! Great efouffes/gumbos and similar options. Their bread is dangerous - very good, make sure you don't have too much of it. I've been to a few different locations throughout the city and they were all great and the customer service is exceptional. read more

My favorite value Cajun restaurant. Get food to go here at least once a week. My son and wife love their bread. I recommend the chipotle alexio, drunken chicken, and chili cheese etouffee. Their jambalaya could be better, but they give a huge portion and often sell out of it. A staple of Indy food! read more

I have never been disappointed by Yats. My most recent trip was two nights ago, coming in from Chicago - arrived 10 minutes before they were due to close. Got a Drunken Chicken and a Chipotle Alexio with Chicken to go - drizzled on some Frank's and Cajun Power to add some heat...heavenly. read more

This area has exploded over the past ten years, and I am so glad that Yats is growing with it. I have tried numerous entrees here and they are all wonderful. Fast service, can be a little crowded during peak times, but the fare is a break from the norm. Fast food without feeling like its "fast food". If you have never been to Yats, this is one to add to your bucket list. And if you're a Duck Dynasty fan, you'll finally understand what all the fuss is about around crawfish. First time visiting. I don't recall ever eating Cajun food. Staff was awesome! Explained each dish and how the process worked. I chose the 1/2 and 1/2 hunters stew and spinach/mushroom étouffée. Very tasty and creative menu. The gumbo is thick, rich, and has just the right amount of spice. But not too much salt as can sometimes be the case. A highlight is the sauce table with various hot sauces to add more flavor. The local beers on tap add to the experience. Split an order and try two different dishes. read more

I first had Yats at a French festival downtown in early September and I enjoyed it. After months, I finally decided to try it out again. I've always heard bad things about Yats, especially about the rice. The place was almost empty and was very quiet. The staff was friendly. The decor was tacky. I got my meal quickly which made me happy at least. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad. I would return but it wouldn't be my first option in where to eat for the night. read more

Been here a few times, nice to have creole food at a good price. I'd give another star but got the white chicken chili tonight for takeout. The order was 75% rice and 25% chili. I would think ordering chili would mean you get chili as the main portion of the order. Need to work on the ratios guys. read more

Neat place, neat idea. For a cajun to give a cajun restaurant in Indy 4 stars is pretty good. Heck, other than my moms house, we usually avoid cajun places like the plague just because nothing compares to home. This place was good. Some ingredients like curry and cumin were a little weird to us. The cool thing was that they let you sample whatever you want. We tried 3-4 things and then picked a half and half plate of the best two. I was disappointed to learn it is somewhat of a chain and the food is brought in precooked. I LOVE YATZ. I love their quirky decor, super delicious cajun creole menu, live music on Saturdays, and quick service. Cooking up large pots of savory dishes in the morning means all the employees have to do is scoop some up and hand it to you, which is a sroke of genius in the marketing plan (props!). Yats is great, and I've also found that it is consistent across their franchise; this location just happens to be closest to my employer! My supervisor suggested it a month after I started work when one of my professors was visiting the area. Since the three of us all like spicy, we went out together and had a great talk over their amazing food. Since then, I've had it at other locations and catered (which was awesome! Sometimes I'd like to get a catering package and just eat off it for a week!) Any place that offers you a veritable buffet of hot sauces like Yats definitely has something good going on!
