we come to the Yard House one night every week on the average. for the past 4 years. we always receive perfect, happy service. you always anticipate our needs before we do. you always seem truly happy we are there. the definition of hospitality, in my opinion. we love having apps and drinks and always leave feeling happy. we tip very well. we are not needy guests. we always feel so welcomed in. tonight was so different. we have recently been sitting at the bar, because we like the vibe there. the bartenders are always friendly, welcoming, ready to take our order. fun, relaxed vibe. we arrived today, and sat at the bar at approx. 5:30 PM. our bartender greeted us, we quickly ordered our drinks. it was clear from the start she was not in a happy place. no smiles, no "welcome in", just "what are you having? no smile. her attitude communicated to me, "I'm here, but I don't really care. maybe she was having an off night. maybe something was going on in her personal life. whatever, I'm not sure. she took our order, then disappeared, maybe she had to take her break. anyway, no one checked in on us after we received our food and drinks. we had to flag another bartender down to order a second round. this was the vibe of the night. maybe someone called out. who knows. there is often a reason why service is uneven like this, and its usually not the server/bartenders's fault. my point is, it was a very uncharacterically "flat" experience for the Yard House. one interesting note: near the end of our stay there, a gentleman appeared next to us at the bar, and all the sudden, our bartender became all happy and smiley, animated. "whatever you want, I will be here, I will be right with you," to him. it was weird, she never smiled or was friendly with us. strange. all the sudden she totally " lit up" when he arrived. I never write these reviews. I despise "Yelpers", and the uninformed "reviews" that are often published. I hope this was just an off night and next time our experience will be perfect. read more

I have been here twice in the past year and I really wish I could like this place because it is one of the very few places with vegetarian and gf options in Bakersfield. I continue to highly recommend coming here during those hours as the deals are amazing. I came by once again last week and I was amazed! Had a fantastic time here as always. The inside is spacious and the atmosphere is loud and fun. The food selection is eclectic and tasty and the beer and cocktails leave you craving nothing! Try the pineapple cocktail. It is so refreshing and delicious! The steak bowl is my favorite with red quinoa and steak bits with a delicious Asian inspired sauce. Yard house is one of my top three sports bars! I came here for some beers with the hubby. The service was 5/5 staff are friendly and fast. As far as the ambiance it's was kinda slow on Monday night; which we didn't mind at all. Appetizers are really great along with a draft beer. HAPPY HOUR DEALS I couldn't have been happier with their happy hour deals, we got a pepperoni pizza with mushrooms, spinach dip and two beers for under $30!! Our service was great, the waitress helped us choose bevause we were stuck between dips, and just kept checking up on us. Great food! We went during happy hour, which is 3-6pm, where selected appetizers are half-off! We were seated immediately and used the little tablet thingy to order. Loud, fun environment! The food was great as usual. However, the server Miguel didn't deliver on drinks. He completely ignored on taking our order for drinks. As a waiter/waitress, it's their job to take a drink order before food, that's the regular standard protocol for a restaurant when it comes to serving customers and if there's any place that does it different, that's news to me. I asked Miguel for a soda drink and he still didn't bring it. The Yard House needs to improve on how they take orders regardless if it is packed or not because you shouldn't ignore drink orders as a waiter or even ignore taking the drink orders at the beginning in the first place and what's even worse is that it wasn't available to order on the tablet menu. read more

Stopped here on the halfway mark on the way back from a road trip in order to take a driving break and get dinner. I have been to my local (Bay Area) Yard House before so I know it's always packed so I wasn't surprised by the wait list. It wasn't long all things considered... maybe 20-25 minutes. Being a huge, sports bar-ish restaurant it is incredibly loud and service was careless at best, bordering on rude. All the way from the hostess to the server. Again, no surprise. This is why, after one meal, I've never been back to the one in San Jose. I had the chicken cobb and the lunch/small size was more than enough given the big portions. Unfortunately I can't recall what my SO had.. I want to say it was a burger and fries. It's his go-to. No complaints on the food. Beer menu was heavy on IPAs and mainstream offerings, whereas I'm more a fan of Imperial Stouts, Barrel Aged and Belgians. Expect more in the way of mixed drinks (especially sweet it seems) than wine. Bathrooms were clean. Parking lot is huge so you'll find something relatively easily. read more

Located in the confines of a planned community, Yard House sticks out as a popular drinking hole and restaurant for the unimaginative. They deliver a consistent menu and quite the beer list for lager and ale lovers. Always a fan favorite, weekends are packed with regulars that include all ages. When I say busy, it may not quite describe the atmosphere well. The music is very loud and sometimes feels like an echo chamber. The food menu is long and very well encompassing. The traditional bar grub is consistently good. Burgers and Chops are made to your preference. Appetizers are designed for the drinking affair to cut through the fats. For good measure, there are some salads to offer the balancing act. The staff is extremely nice and attentive. They're service has fallen off as of recent. I sit at the bar just to have a beer or two and because there's always a seat available. Maybe because they think they're not getting a good tip on a 2 beer tab I get horrible service. I usually get ignored and the bartenders are not friendly even when they're not busy. Quite often it's because they act like it's social hour amongst themselves instead of tending to customers. The server had a poop face up until the moment she handed us the check. Then she smiled and "appeared" friendly for that tip. I used to play in Metal bands so I don't mind loud music. However, the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk at the table. The good: Seated in a timely manner despite no reservation for a party of 6. Food temp was perfect. Almost like it went from grill straight to table without any time under the heat lamps. Table assignment was roomy. We had elbow room that was a plus with the "lefties" in our party. We have been to this Yardhouse 10+ times, we love the happy hour and the beer. However this time has been our favorite. Our server, Ren, went above and beyond to make our dining experience superb. As we initially sat down, we order 2 beers and a taster, when we received the drinks there was a mix up with which drink was the taster and which was the full drink (an understandable mistake on a busy Friday night). Ren fixed the mistake and when she came back, we came into conversation about how we loved sour beers. Ren was very knowledge on the menu which prompted great conversation. Ren recommended that we try a certain sour beers and ciders on the menu. We obliged and Ren returned with a great variety of tasters that she thought we'd enjoy. We ended up ordering one of her suggestions. If I could have Ren as my server every time I left the house, I would say yes in a heartbeat. I've been here a couple thousand times and is a go-to spot for me and my friends. Food is great and fairly priced for the ambiance. I usually don't trust going to places like this and ordering Asian food because I fear a lack of authenticity and perhaps a lack of flavor. However the orange chicken proved me wrong. It had fantastic crunch and the sauce was superb! I just wish it came with more vegetables. Lobster was a little dry on the garlic noodles in two different occasions but the rest of the dish was great. Don't get me started on happy hour. Amazing deals. One of my new most favorite places! They have an amazing gluten free menu that includes gluten free buns for burgers and sandwiches. You can also get their steak or shrimp tacos gf. They have corn tortillas that are listed on the gf menu, but I did not see that option on the regular menu. My last 3 times I ordered the same thing-a grilled chicken and avocado sandwich (GF). It is probably the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. I am 100% addicted. It's on a grilled GF bun that does not fall apart like the others, with a very tasty aioli sauce. There are many other options that all look so good, but I keep coming back for that sandwich. You can get salad instead of fries and that is delicious too. Service is typically pretty good as well. As of now (1/28/23) you can sign up for their e club and they will send you a coupon for a free appetizer that arrives on your email the next day or so. I highly recommend Yardhouse. I'm a fan of the industrial brew pub feel. Good music without drowning out all conversation. Our server was very nice, welcoming and provided attentive service. My cheese burger was juicy tender and cooked just right. Truffle fries were cooked very well with a nice truffle Parmesan kick. We tried this place when they first opened and thought that it was just ok and didn't go back for over a year. Recently we decided to give it another go and we're pleasantly surprised. It seems our initial experience was a one off probably due to the amount of people trying a new place and not enough staff to properly support it. We have been going here on my days off for lunch and really enjoying the experience! I'm a fan on the Chicken Avocado sandwich & the Blackened Shrimp Tacos. I decided to try the Vampire Tacos this last time. I'm not a cheese guy per say and not a fan of fried food either. I think the flavors were good, enjoyed the texture but the cheese flavor was just too much for me. I will stick with Shrimp moving forward and also try some of the other offerings as well.
