Generally speaking, I love Pat's Nursery. The staff always greets me immediately, is extremely…read moreprofessional and asks how they can assist. That being said, based upon our recent experience, I don't recommend their landscaping services. It's possible that the problem is the employee that came to our house to review what we wanted in order to give us a quote. Chuck was grumpy. My husband initiated the follow up call so we could discuss the proposal and we set up a time to meet. Our appointment was today and he wasn't there, but we did get a copy of his suggestions. We won't waste our time with a merchant that doesn't take the initiative to garner our business. Overall, Pat's Nursery is great. The landscaping experience was abysmal. We will move forward and get a quote from another vendor.

So now we have a very uneven yard where water puddles and gates that are difficult to open even though they came back to fix. We have what Nate Budd said was bahia grass and we should go to Tractor Supply and purchase weed killer to spray the bahia and it should work. Exactly what does it mean "We will remove all the old grass???" We live on a fixed income and are not able to maintain a difficult lawn is why we paid this amount of money for Sod Lot to take care of it but here we go again having to spray weeds. Our approximately $200 a month water bill to maintain the Provista just grows the weeds. So save your money.

I needed to re-sod a section of my yard so the second time I purchased two pallets which I picked up myself, because the delivery fee was the same if I were to get 5 pallets. I did have to come by and get a few more pieces of sod and the guy was helpful enough to help, but he was a little slow so I helped him pick up the slack. Wish I would have known about the place down the street, that could have saved me at least a few hundred bucks...

My husband and I learned about Nicholas Zimmer's nursery a couple of months ago when we went to his…read morebooth at the Vagabond Flea Market on a Saturday. We bought three tomato plant variants, one Rutgers indeterminate and two determinate tomato plants. We had also bought three tomato plants from Lowe's just to compare. One of the Lowe's tomato plants died within weeks but all three of Nick's tomato plants are producing a wealth of heathy and delicious tomatoes. The two determinate plants are close to the end of their life but the Rutgers is flourishing and producing an amazing amount of tomatoes. We also purchased some petunias that have done wonderful on our back deck. Today, we stopped by his booth outside of southern roots on King street and purchased some jasmine, coffee okra, lantana, coffee plants, and some other flowers to bring some more color to the backyard and I am excited to see how well they do. Each plant had excellent root structure! I highly recommend buying plants from Nick because he is very knowledgeable on what he grows. I believe he has a degree in horticulture and you are able to tell it by all the information he is able to provide you when you stop by his booth. About 3 years ago, I bought four beautiful trees from Southern Tree Farm and had them planted by…read morethe company. Two trees were in small containers and they have done wonderfully well after planting! However, the two larger trees have struggled for three years and one of the trees is slowly falling to pieces. The one that is clearly going to die had a cut main root when it was planted. I was told by the staff that it would live if it survived the year. It survived but is not going to be here by next year. The other large tree is struggling but might make it. I've recently read that when planting trees from containers you must unroll the root ball. I know this wasn't done and I suspect it is the main problem. The dying tree can easily be rocked back and forth and could probably be pushed over. The roots have not spread out. I've used other Shaw service with good results but I don't think I will in the future.
