I hired Wesley to help me with a hoarder situation. He did not follow through with his agreements to clear the place out, even though we paid him in full, and then he took videos of it and posted it on the Internet I do not recommend him. read more

This guy was hired to help with a sensitive hoarding situation and instead of showing some much-needed compassion, he took videos inside the home without permission and posted at least a DOZEN videos about it on social media calling them disgusting. I work in mental health specializing in hoarding disorder and own a cleaning company that does this kind of work, and this guy needs to find a new job if that's how he treats his clients. What he thinks is so "disgusting", isn't even a fraction as disgusting as the way he treated those poor people. It's clear from his MANY one-star reviews that he is unprofessional all the way around. Do yourself a favor and don't give this waste of space your money. Find a real company. read more

I own a company that regularly requires moving and trash hauling services. I have used Wesley's company for 10 years working on hundreds of houses with me. They are professional, pleasant to deal with and honest. I like working with them so much that they have done several moves for me personally. I can't say enough good things about them. read more

As much as I hate to give them five stars since I have really high standards. Yao movers really proved that they are by far the best and most reliable moving company I've ever encountered. I don't normally leave reviews on yelp but I think this company really deserves it. Very happy with the outcome and looking forward to working with them again in the near future :) -Highly satisfied customer read more

My fiancee and I used Yao Movers to move from our apartment into our first home last weekend. We were initially hesitant to contact a small and seemingly very new moving company that we had only briefly heard about from a friend. But boy are we glad that we did! These guys were fantastic. They were careful, efficient, and timely. And all for a very competitive price. We booked our move through a well-mannered, charming personality named Wesley (who I believe is the supervisor and manager of the moving service). During our first call to Yao Movers--in which we were just trying to get a quick quote and feel for the company--Wesley quickly cleared away our initial hesitations. In the end, he was the difference maker and reason we decided to go with Yao Movers. If our experience with him is any indication, Wesley truly abides by the notion that the customer comes first and strives to make a typically convoluted moving process as painless as possible. If you give Yao Movers a call, I highly recommend asking to speak to Wesley and booking your move through him. We're certainly very happy that we did! read more

Great experiences with Yao Movers. They moved my furniture and porcelain store twice this past year. They also helped me deliver furnitures to customers. Great guys that know how to handle furnitures with care. Strongly recommended if you are moving. read more

Excellent experience. Our move was a bit complicated, but the company was able to make adjustments and get the job done efficiently within a reasonable amount of time. The final price (after almost a whole day of moving) came out to be much less than any other quotes we had received. I am hesitant to give the last of the 5 stars because one of the movers that the company had hired did a very minimum amount of work the whole day (at one point my roommate and I were carrying a bed frame, on our backs, through a hallway while he trotted past us carrying nothing but a light portrait frame). However, the supervisor of the moving company (who personally accompanied his movers and actually put in physical work himself) was quick to notice the aforementioned issue and made it a point to assure that the operation continued to run smoothly, regardless of the faineance of one his employees. I will recommend Yao Movers to anyone who is planning a residential or commercial shift in the DMV area. read more

While the movers were nice the overall service was unprofessional. They showed up two hours late with a truck that already had stuff in it and was way too small for my move. This caused them to need to make two trips which increased my costs and the "discount" didn't make up for this mistake. They damaged my headboard and broke a table I indicated was fragile. read more

I used Yao Movers yesterday for a local move, and it was a disaster. The crew arrived more than 2 hours after the appointment time. The three guys who came were very unprofessional and seemed very tired. They broke the corner of a mirror and the handle of my suitcase. Although they offered a discount for the damage, i will not use this company anymore. read more

For a moving nightmare, choose Yao. This is not a company you can trust. Wesley Yao looks out for himself, not his customers. Moving days are stressful, all the more so when the movers do a terrible job. Scheduling was easy and the crew of three seemed really professional, but they filled the truck while a quarter of my possessions still sat on the sidewalk. I spend the next nine hours repacking. Everything did fit. It's a bad sign that an amateur can do better than the pros. Wesley cared about my concerns until the check that I had unwisely given to the movers cleared, then he disappeared. read more

The affordable price was a bit suspicious but they really proved themselves. Usually you sacrifice some quality with affordability, this wasn't the case. I was impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail. read more

Excellent Movers! Will Def use again! The price was reasonable. Everything was done in a efficient and timely matter. I have used other movers in the area to move or get rid of furnitures and they have either damaged my furniture or the prices were crazy. Yao Movers got my furniture to the location in the same condition and there is def no complain abou read more

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!! I schedule a move for a Friday morning and the movers never showed up. They then called me three hours later to explain that they were unable to come in that they would come first thing Saturday morning. They did not arrive Saturday morning and did not even have to decency to give me a call to let me know what was going on. I left countless voicemails, Messages and text. And still no call back. Never in my life have I ever experienced such unprofessionalism from a company. In a bind I had to make other arrangements for movers. Absolutely horrible and not recommend. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

I actually know the owner of this business. He's a nice guy. He gave me a good discount on my one bedroom move from DC to Alexandria. The move was quick, they even helped me set up the bed and positioned all my furniture just so at the new place. Really nice guys--very professional. read more

YaoMovers were fantastic to work with. Jay & Greg were super friendly, cooperative, careful, and very thorough packing our furniture safely and efficiently. They maintained a professional impression even when my boyfriend and I were not being so mature. Highly recommended for any move within the DMV area read more

Words cannot be described for Wesley and the crew that he brought for a very complicated move to multiple locations. These guys are pros, and are very caring and considerate. Their prices are very flexible and attitude very humble. I moved from MD To PA, and had to send some furniture to VA at the same time. Wesley not only ensured that the long distance move happens smoothly, he also ensured that the stuff moved in the truck had no defects. Please use these guys, you won't regret it. I have used other movers earlier who were not only very expensive, but added a lot of restrictions (men, work, pieces of boxes and furniture). Thanks Guys. read more

We were suspicious at the price when we talked over the phone but the people working at Yao Movers were very nice and got the job done. We had to move from Kensington, MD all the way to New York and they did a great job in helping us do that. Thank you! Would definitely recommend to others~ read more

YaoMovers was wonderful helping me with my move. I set up my move with Wesley and they were very flexible with my constantly changing moving plans and came on time on the date and time we scheduled. My bed frame was partially disassembled for the move and promptly reassembled at the destination, and everything else arrived in perfect condition. The price was great and I was happy to tip the gentlemen who did the move, as they were very professional and efficient. I will certainly be using them again for my next move. read more

The movers showed up on time but I think I got 3rd party movers hired by Yao because 1 they did not seem very professional -like the previous reviews seem to have gotten - 1was constantly on the phone only 2 of them seems serious about working we felt the job could have been done quicker if they had proper equipment like a dolly for boxes there was also a misunderstanding about the travel charge I did hire them based on Yelp reviews so I feel it's only fair that I give my side of experience as well. The owner seemed very professional and good with communicating so I was expecting a better experience read more

Excellent move. Super smooth, super quick. Very accommodating and polite movers. I didn't have a chance to check how tight the reassembled bed frame was right after the move, but it was a bit loose. I gave them a call the next day and they had someone over to fix the issue the same day. Great service, highly recommended! read more

The short story: Super fast and super friendly. They helped me move into my apartment in bethesda and were so efficient! The movers were very polite and pleasant as well. Use them and be happy! read more

I am so grateful and appreciative of Yao Movers! They were very accommodating to my schedule and made my move so much easier! On the day of my move, I had a slight schedule change, and Wesley was thankfully very understanding and showed up at the perfect time. Also, it unfortunately rained on the day of my move and they usually reschedule it, but I absolutely had to move on that day and again they were VERY accommodating and were still willing to move my furniture. I couldn't have asked for anything more because my move took longer than expected, but they were patient, professional and finished the job as quickly as possible. I am completely satisfied with the service I received and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone else! Thank you again Yao Movers! read more

Best experience with Yao Movers! Hands down best moving experience on the east coast. When you work with Yao movers it's like a family helping you move. Every detail on the job was done with extra care. It was only 2 bedroom move but I bought them sandwiches and Gatorade to fuel their energy. With their great affordable price why not get them a great lunch since their providing my sentimental valued items with care. read more

I booked Yao Movers a few weeks ago to move my belongings into storage. They arrived early, worked pretty quickly, and are friendly. I highly recommend their services and they are quite affordable. I used Yao Movers last month when I moved to an apartment in Rockville. I heard about them from some friends who hired these guys for their moves and got in touch with Kevin. The quote he gave me was very fair. On the day of the move they got there right on time and carefully moved my belongings without any damages. They did everything in a very professional and safe manner. I don't usually stay at one place for that long so I will definitely be hiring them again for my next moves. read more

Firstly I just have to say the movers were very polite. This review is mainly on the administrative side I guess. So they came to move my friends 3 bedroom house today, she was given an estimate of arrival for 10-10:30am. They did not arrive until 12 PM and didn't bother calling my friend to let her know until 11:20 that they were running behind. When they arrived, it was one guy in a small truck probably fit 1 bedroom. The guy sat in the driveway for half an hour waiting for his coworker to come help move. The truck was filled with some junk also, so he had to empty the truck out. So as assumed they had to make 2 trips because the truck they brought was too small so the move took longer. They broke my friends heirloom table and scratch/dented her headboard. Shit happens ok we get it, however because of how long they took to get here and having to make 2 trips her day was screwed. The move didn't finish until 7pm, it shouldn't take that long to move a table, 3 beds, 1 couch and a few boxes (we took a lot of boxes over ourseleves). So all in all the owner called and said they'll knock off $10 per hour. I'm sorry but they just fucked up her day, and it was their fault for bringing the smaller truck when she told them more than once it was a 3 bedroom. All in all I would not reccomend them, they do not seem like professional movers. read more

I just finished my move and I am really happy with the service provided. Greg and John did a great job. They were on time, fast and on point. They were super polite and professional, I highly recommend Yao Movers. read more

Yao Movers did an EXCELLENT JOB! I would not have been able to move if it weren't for them. My wife and I downsized from a townhome to apartment and we had so much stuff to move, not to mention a newborn, and these guys (Antonio Owah, Darryl Dyer, Dayne Bolt) worked effortlessly to take care of us. They were every professional, expeditious, and respectful! I would use Yao again just because of THEM! They took a VERY stressful day for me and made it incredibly smooth! Kudos Yao! Owah, Dyer, and Bolt..Ya'll are dope man! read more

My wife and I required a dependable and efficient moving team, and Yao Movers delivered 100%. Antonio, Jay, and John were very friendly and hardworking, completing the job of moving heavy furniture and boxes from two separate locations in under the time quoted. I would highly recommend using this company for anyone looking for a stress free move experience headed by Welsey, who is very honest, courteous, and responsive. read more

I feel so awful that I've waited so long to do this review. They were amazing!!! That couch pic, yeah, that was us. 14 floors! But first, they moved us from Pittsburgh, PA to New Brunswick, NJ, dealt with crappy weather and crappy parking and, as I mentioned, small elevators that don't fit a standard couch. Their price was great, they took care to wrap everything beautifully and treated their staff with appreciation and respect. They're professional and hard working but down to earth and we really loved working with them. Thanks so much guys and sorry about the couch!!! read more

In an effort to minimize anxiety I did a good deal of research (reading reviews, collecting estimates, checking with the BBB and the like) before scheduling our move from Annapolis to Rockville. Even though it was a short move and our 2 bedroom apartment was fully packed our busy schedules didn't leave much margin for error so I tried to be thorough. From the very first call the guys at Yao Movers were polite, professional, and helpful. I honestly just really liked them. Even though the company was so recently established that the information available was minuscule, I went with my gut. We couldn't be more pleased, the whole thing went off without a hitch and they worked so quickly that the hourly came to $40 less then the flat rate I was originally quoted but we gave them the full amount in addition to the tip because we so appreciated their efficiency. I would highly recommend this company and will be using them again if at all possible. read more

Kevin, Wesley, and crew are great! Best moving company I've experienced. Excellent price, and not a single thing was damaged. Would highly recommend Yao Moving Company! read more

While they had good yelp reviews, they didn't have that many of them so I was a bit hesitant about hiring Yao Movers. But, we got a good impression when Wesley came to the house to assess the items to move and form an estimate. He and his team did a very professional job from the on-site estimate to loading at the house to unloading at the condo. Furniture was disassembled and re-assembled as needed and mirrors and fragile items were wrapped to ensure protection. Not only was their estimate the most fair and accurate out of all the bids received, there were no hidden fees. At 1am before the movers were supposed to arrive, we changed our minds on keeping some furniture so we texted Wesley and he was able to accommodate by asking his team to start later than planned. The only slight nit was we thought loading could have moved a bit more swiftly, but in the end, the project manager didn't round up the hour -- such a pleasant bonus! The job came in under estimate. Just more evidence that these guys are fair and professional. So glad we took a chance with Yao Movers! And, very happy to support a younger, local business like them. Highly recommend Yao Movers. read more

These guys were great - much less expensive than most other companies quoted, with no insane extra fees for travel (just a flat $50 fee). We hired a 3-man crew for our move; we moved from a 3-bedroom 3-floor townhouse, and had most of our items packed already. The guys were pretty fast, and had us moved out and moved into our new place in about 7 hours (we were guessing it would take 8). The guys were really nice, friendly, and polite. My only two complaints are that two of the guys seemed to be on their cell phones at various points of the day, so it felt like it was taking up moving time. Also, when they reassembled the beds, one of the beds had only been hand-tightened and was totally loose and wobbly. We just took off the mattress and re-tightened it ourselves, so not a huge deal. They did a great job, and it was a great value! read more

I called the number found in local grocery store and then called and talked to Kevin. Based on the price I got from another moving company, I said I would not use their service. However, Kevin called me later to said they wanted my business, so they would be willing to match the price. Consider they are closer to our home and they could speak Chinese, I decided to go with them. To avoid the potential issues, I emailed him and confirmed the service and the price. He agreed to waive my piano moving fee and fuel fee since I was close. To make sure, I confirmed my appointment with Kevin on last Wed evening for the Sat move. Kevin told me everything is set, I thought I was ready to go, but the nightmare started on Friday night.... I got a phone call from a person around 11pm Friday night (saying he was the owner of the company) and told me that Kevin was his partner and he just fired Kevin, more importantly he could not agree with the price Kevin told me. I told hime the email communications back and forth before with Kevin, but he said the personal email Kevin used before did not count. He said in order to come, he wanted to charge me more for fuel and piano, which was going to be at least $200 more. That was absurd, at the last minute to tell customers they won't honor the price they promised before ! I told him that Kevin was part of the company when the quote was sent and they should not treat customers like that. That is first time I have ever heard. The most annoying statement the guy made was that he did not want to do business with Chinese. When I asked him if he is Chinese, he admitted it. I was shocked by his comments and also was very disappointed by his "smart" way to trap customers, so I refused to pay extra he asked and decided to go to other companies after the mid-night... I personally think being honest to customers is No.1 important thing to run the business, you should keep promises you made to customers and should not use trick to get customers in first, then ask for more the last minute to take advantage of it. I honest do not know if they use the same trick to other customers before. I will definitely not do the business with this company again and remind other people to be careful with their trick! read more

This was the worst moving experience of my life (and we are a Navy family, so we moved a lot). We were given an estimate of 3 hours with 3 guys to move only 4 miles away. One of the guys never showed up. Okay, so I expected it to take longer because they were short one guy. But this was ridiculous! They started at 9:30 am and didn't finish until almost midnight. I've never seen two people move as slowly as these guys did. One of the guys spent half the day on the phone. On top of that, they informed me at 6:30 that not everything would fit on the truck and they would have to come back after unloading to pick up the leftover pieces. My husband, who had been on the phone countless times with Kevin, asked him to have someone pick up the remaining pieces the next day, otherwise it would have been 2:00 am at least. I was not going to subject my new (and old) neighbors to that. Fortunately the two guys who showed up the next day were quick and efficient and it was a much more pleasant experience. In the end we did not have to pay for the total of 16 hours, which was way more than we contracted for and ended up only paying for 9 hours. read more

Great moving experience. Movers are experienced, helpful and flexible. Would recommend.
