I was 3 minutes late....walked to the table where friend was already sitting, waitress got our beverage order, returned about 5-8 minutes, said I'll give you time to check out the menu. Placed our orders, the food was brought out - in about 15 minutes. The meal was fine, other than the rye toast, which was very hard). Ate our meals, check was dropped off by waitress ( I wasn't paying attention to the time, but about 10 minutes later the owner stopped & asked "Are you staying for lunch!?" I said maybe supper. He said we need your table, people waiting at the door. I looked at my friend & said well I guess we better leave. By the time I got out of my chair & turn to look at the crowd...there was 1 person waiting. The owner picks up my scarf that was on top of my coat that I had put on the extra chair, sets my scarf on the table & picks up my coat, holding it from the bottom, I reached out and took it from him, saying I can dress myself. We went at the recommendation of a friend who says it's his favorite place for breakfast although their lunch and dinner menu also have a lot of options. Breakfast is served all day with free cups of coffee! My brother got the country skillet and I got the country fried steak. The portion sizes are GENEROUS. My steak and gravy were very flavorful and I enjoyed it. I thought the potatoes were a touch too bland but I like to douse them in ketchup anyway lol. I can't believe we waited a year to finally try this place given how close it is to where we live. It's good to get off the beaten path and explore, you'll be glad you did. We came on a busy Saturday morning. The place was packed but it was run very efficiently. As soon as a table stood up, it was cleaned off and the next in line immediately seated. They welcome you and take your drink orders promptly. We ordered a meat lovers omelette and skillet. No matter which way you go, you can't go wrong. Portions are HUUUUGE! Despite being busy and having such a small kitchen, they were able to pop out food quickly. The place definitely has a country vibe with a combination of tables and counter service. I may be quite biased as I have been eating at Yankee kitchen, For as long as I can remember. When my family comes in from Florida, that's the only place they want to go for breakfast! Depending on the time of day, you may have a short wait but I promise you the food is worth it! I personally recommend their French toast with hashbrowns for breakfast and a Gyro for lunch! I love that Yankee kitchen is a family owned business. You can sit at the coffee bar or a table. The restaurant is clean and well kept. I always have great service! Had an amazing turkey melt today at "The Yank", a variation from my usual choice of breakfast. Would highly recommend you do either. Dined with my mother who had a meatball splash and said the fries were so warm and fresh that they were the best she'd ever had there. What really made this meal amazing though was the service. Our waitress, who I believe was named Caroline, was tremendous in every way. She made sure our glasses of water had at least 8 ice cubes at all times. Delivered our food with a smile and brightly colored nails that stood out. They should start writing songs that feature her name because her service was that noteworthy. She made sure to offer us dessert and although only my mom got a paper listing Lentin specials, at least we got it. And I don't think it was a coincidence the fries were so fresh. I would recommend dining at the Yankee Kitchen, especially when you can be served by Caroline! Even if you don't get 5 star food you'll get 50 star service! read more

Brought the grandkids here for Sunday brunch. It's a very busy diner, we waited about 15 minutes for a table. The service staff is very friendly & welcoming. I ordered a breakfast platter. The French toast was excellent, my over-medium eggs perfect. We had an amazing server -- very attentive & friendly. Don't recall her name, but she's Yemeni. The grandkids very much enjoyed their food as well, and noticed how good our server was. This is a great choice for standard American fare. The price was decent, at $40 for 3. This is one of the best little restaurants. Great burgers. the California chicken sandwich is scrumptious. Breakfast is also on point with amazing omelettes. It is the perfect all-American style diner that is tucked away in the middle of nowhere. Update: The past two times we diner here we were disappointed. Unfortunately, as many restaurants have done in recent times, they have switched to pre-packaged, processed meat patties for chicken and burgers. I hope this doesn't last indefinitely. read more

Called in for a to go order, the older I lady just couldn't understand what I was asking for which was very simple, a Junior, bacon cheeseburger, plain with french fries on the side, as well as a junior cheeseburger with lettuce and mayo, onion rings on the side. She was very rude and made the comment that she guess she could make fries because there wasn't any, also did not say anything about the store being cash only so when I arrived, I had to use an ATM and pay the extra fee, also she had the order switched up and the burgers and the wrong containers after she put everything together with no gloves on right in front of me she giggled about the whole thing. was back in town visiting family. We used to come here often when I lived in Youngstown about 7 years ago. Same cook working the front...was nice to see. You get huge portions for a very reasonable price. That's one thing I miss about Youngstown. Reason for 4 stars vs 5 would be the fact that they do not accept debit/credit cards. We were waited on promptly and our drinks were to us in almost no time flat. They have a great menu selection and their prices are really great. I had the ham and cheese omelet with home fries and white toast and my husband had the cowboy omelette with home fries and sourdough toast. They arrived in less than ten minutes and were cooked perfectly. Do not let the fact they are flat looking omelets fool you - they are full of flavor and whatever you have had put in them. The home fries are so good! They cook them with onions and they are soft and so flavorful. Really good! The two of us ate for under $20 and were more than satisfied! We stumbled across this restaurant when we were meeting with family for lunch at a centralized location. I hadn't read any of the reviews prior to going here, but I was pleasantly surprised when we pulled into a packed parking lot. That's always a good sign, when the locals support so loyally. Two of us had breakfast, country skillet and everything omelet. The portion sizes were HUGE and oh so yummy. My husband had the jalapeño burger, I was stuffed but he made me try it because it was so good. My sister had the Reuben and she said that was good. I love the family atmosphere here, we had an older gentleman (assumed to be an owner) come and box our leftovers for us. He spoke to us and topped off the enjoyable lunch with great conversation.
