This experience was so disappointing! We went in and asked for 2 plates to go Marissa who, was working the front desk said it was $42 We asked why so much and she said it was taxes. Keep in mind it was only me and another person. I've been a long-time resident of Killeen since 1984 and have pretty much seen this city grow. With that, there's a lot of fond memories to remember, but for this place and what it use to be.. not so much (Luby's massacre '91). Since then, I've refused to even set foot here for personal reasons. Twenty-three years later, I finally let my guard down when my parents invited me for lunch. Walking in, I found I really liked the decor and how much they changed up the place. The food? My family is way into the AYCE. I can't break them of it, so I just go with it. I was taken aback by the smoking or non-smoking question (we haven't been able to smoke in California restaurants for years). For about $11, we got a pretty good selection of stuff. Every time we go they are nice to my family and friends. They have a great selection of foods from sushi to desert. They have a few of my favorites that I enjoy when I'm back home. Their restaurant is very pretty and they have plenty of parking. We had my parents' birthday party there, and everyone enjoyed the venue and food. I debated with myself about posting this review. Yank Sing was one of my favorites until recently. The ladies at the counter are always very nice and pleasant. I'm giving them 1 star because of a very recent experience. I witnessed a lady wiping the bar down and eating food. Workers shouldn't do that. Especially in front of customers. That wasn't the deal breaker. I noticed a roach crawling by the chicken and going back through the window that food is coming out of. Sorry Yank Sing. Have you ever imagined what the inside of a dog's asshole tastes like? Visit Yank Sing and you won't have to imagine any longer! First of all, their "extensive" buffet offers sushi sprinkled with what tastes like cat piss, their "chicken" tastes like they found the nearest roadkill, took a shit on it and deep-fried it, and don't even get me started on the rest of their selection of "fine" Chinese buffet food. I've eaten meals cooked out of tin cans typically used to cook heroin that tasted better than 99% of the food at this restaurant. Waitresses even walk around leaving their tips in their carts, can hardly speak English and are not helpful whatsoever. Hell, last time I was there with my family we stepped outside to have a cigarette, alerting the staff that we did not abandon our table and we would be back in 5-10 minutes and the minute we stepped in the waitress, who should really have taken English classes before hopping the bus to America, was seating this other family right where we were sitting. We let it pass, after all she can't speak English anyway, and seated ourselves at another table. NOPE. We went to grab our plates, came back, and the same incompetent waitress seated another family where they clearly saw us sitting. Overall, I could trap 500 cats in my attic, let them shit and piss all over cardboard, then fry it and call it "chicken" and it would probably taste better than anything that comes out of this shithole that should be renamed to YANK STINK. read more

The inside is very nice but still casual. Everyone from the hostess to the busboys were really nice and polite, and were really sweet to our kids. The buffet had a nice selection of everything, so anyone could find something too eat. Large selection of fresh fruits as well. I'm very happy with the price for the quality of food. read more

Was here for defensive driving class. The class saw through the glass door that staff was sticking there own hands into the food. Also the food here is terrible. I ate here once when I was in high school and got very sick. We went to Yank Sing the first time for dinner. You come in and have to pay up front what is in my opinion to problem at all. A lady showed us our table. I was reading in previous ratings that the food was not hot. Well I can't agree with that. Everything was heated well. Also, I always saw somebody from the restaurant bringing out fresh dishes and taking care of dishes which were running out. All in all we really liked the food! We normally eat at Asia buffet. We wanted to give this place a try. They are definitely not worth the money. You can tell that they use the cheapest indrediants. The rice was very bland. The sushi was small and almost flavorless. I enjoyed the lo mein noodles and the cocktail shrimp. Towards the end of our visit, I saw a baby roach on the buffet near the kitchen. I informed the lady working at the counter. She just walked to the back. I'm hoping she informed someone about the roach problem. I felt ripped off. They are open to 10pm on Fridays. We got there at 9:15 and our party joined us 5 minutes later. They suggested that we check out the buffet and see if we still wanted to eat here. They told us that they closed the kitchen at 9:30p at 9:40 they started cleaning and taking food away. They obviously wanted to go home and not deal with customers. If you go here, I would come by 7-7:30. I think the food goes down hill after that. I am a pretty easy going guy. But this was the worst service I've ever received. Probably not coming back. First of all....the reputation this place has from the Luby's Massacre is irrelevant to the quality of food and service. I will admit I did steer clear of this place when I first heard about that story but really, how will that affect your dining experience? I got over it. Turns out that was a good decision because by the building and decor alone, this is one of the nicest looking places in Killeen. Traditional Chinese furniture, glass walls etched with koi and lily pads and several dining areas. The food is hit or miss. Some items are mediocre and some are a let down. Beijing Shrimp didnt taste too fresh but the peel and eat shrimp on ice were good. Chinese style pork chops are tasty and crispy. Lo Mein has a slight char from the wok that has a hint of smoke Cashew chicken is flavorful and has tons of cashews! Satay chicken is good Now most people here think Chinese food is all about fried rice and orange chicken....the fried rice is fine.....the orange chicken is mediocre. I urge you to try something else. especially here where if you dont like it, you dont have to finish it. And seriously? 9.95 for a lunch buffet that includes your drink, 9.95 for food thats better than Ryan's or Golden Corral? This is NOT overpriced. try it! read more

I've been here numerous times with family ans friends. The staff is generally nice and they clear empty, used plates very quickly and efficiently. The place itself is okay looking, not the best in terms of decoration, interior design, and layout, but not bad. The food, however, is mediocre. The sushi tastes..pretty bad. H.E.Bs prepackaged sushi tastes so much better, and that's saying something. The green beans are very greasy, but well seasoned. The orange shrimp are actually good while warm, but if you get takeout and it gets cold, they taste pretty bad when anything less than hot/warm. The fish in general is pretty bland. The kimchi is purely awful; I've had kimchi made in Korean restaurants and sold in Korean shops, and the kimchi here tastes literally just like rotten, spoiled iceberg lettuce with some sauce on it. The watermelon slices they offer are pretty good though, and the bread rolls are nice. I can't vouch for any of the other food since I haven't tried anything other than what I've listed. In general, it's an okay buffet. Are there better ones out there? Absolutely. But if you're hungry and don't mind not too bad (but not amazing) food, this is a decent place to go to. read more

This place was never all that great to me and has gotten worse since I left Killeen a few years ago. Their prices are ridiculous for a buffet. 3 adults (1 senior) and 1 child was $48 for dinner. We were charged for drinks whether we drank only water or not. The hot food was lukewarm to the point that the egg drop soup and hot and sour soup had that old, stale and too cold glaze over the top of it. No one waits the tables; they only have busboys to clean the tables. Shame on me, but I started wasting food just so I could feel like I got my $12 worth.
